Simon’s lap commentary is awesome and what he just did in the wet on the weapon that is the M1000RR for us mortals is in another league. Thank you MotoGP for always making this happen.
Watching Simon ride each GP circuit is always a priority. This was one of the better ones he’s done. Can you guys add another GoPro camera for extra footage of the cockpit instrumentation, or perhaps an overlay such as they already have for the MotoGP bikes?
hearing Simon's comments about the Michelin rains gripping/being better or atleast as good as the slicks were 20 years ago was pretty interesting but in reality probably not far from the truth
Blind apexes are all part of the fun and a good test of visual, spacial and memory skills. More difficult than Mugello but not as difficult as Caldwell Park IMHO.
The tread on wet tyres can deal with puddles at low speed but high speed fully wet sections are more concerning due to aqua-planning. So it's important to have fresh wets with sharp edges to reach the tarmac surface. Of course Simon does!
This is getting MUCH better with the circuit map and a tracker in the bottom! If you could add other MotoGP like features (speed and braking) it would be complete!!
We just got this track in iRacing a couple weeks ago, and it quickly became my favorite! However, I couldnt imagine riding a 300+Hp MotoGp bike around here lol! Or even just a Superbike tbh.
A 600 SuperSport bike would give great feel and precision without excess power and weight on corner exit. With six gears a SuperSport 600 will get to high speed on the straight just not as quickly as the 1000s. Corner entry confidence too especially on the first two corners. There's a lot of blind corners at Portimao so learning the track must come first, whatever you choose to ride.
Media recently tested the upcoming Honda CBR600RR and Fireblade on this track and the onboard shots look incredible. But (obviously) none of those even compare to this one by Simon Crafar.
CBR 1000RR-R FireBlade is comparable to M1000R so presumably you mean the riders. Previous BSB riders don't compare to a previous MotoGP rider. Those 500 GP bikes were beasts.
@@lonpfrb definitely implied the riders. And afaik the Fireblade is more comparable to the S1000RR rather than the M1000 which is like double the price.
Electronics do so much on traction control and braking that wet tyres (race not highway use) can do a great job in keeping it rubber side down. Race wets are nothing like road tyres other than round and black...
Agree with you, or just another camera that showed the cockpit instrumentation. Hopefully there is enough stabilization in these cameras so the image would be fairly clear. Overlay of telemetry would be preferred.
@@Adair9800 That would require the BMW M1000R to be fitted with data logging and post processing the GoPro video to overlay the data. So it's very possible with some planning.
Simon has a relationship with BMW and they are not yet in MotoGP but might be so several good reasons why an M1000R production bike is a good choice. There will be no shortage of Ducati over the race weekend.
Miguel Oliveira és mesmo um triste..... Só fazes figuras tristes meu......eu despedia a te já hoje, não fazes nada de jeito . Neste momento estás em penúltimo meu.....

Excellent, as always! Thanks, Simon. Love your laps.
Hardest track on the calendar with damp spots and excellent narration- Simon you're a legend
Simon is a gem, his insights on the track, in the paddock, and in the announcer's box are the best.
Love Simon's ride-along with a description of the track from a rider's point of view. Adds so much to the race viewing.

2:13 seconds in the wet. Good job, Simon! Thanks for giving us the grand tour!
These are my favorite lead up videos. Thank you so much Simon, you're a legend.
Simon has got to be one of the best parts of watching a MotoGP weekend.
Love your efforts in narrating whilst riding Simon. Well done!
Great track too.
Love your pure enjoyment, excitement and knowledgable feedback,,,feels like I'm riding the lap
Thanks Simon for an amazing riders eye view of the course 😃👍!
Amazing content moto gp. Excelent ride by simon!
Nice one, we're more prepared to enjoy the race. Thanks Simon.
Simon's the man. Love it.
Merci! C'est vraiment impressionnant!
Fantastic, struck gold with Simon
Great to watch...
Simon the goat
hearing Simon's comments about the Michelin rains gripping/being better or atleast as good as the slicks were 20 years ago was pretty interesting but in reality probably not far from the truth
He still must be reasonably brave to find out! I'll take his word for it, definitely.
Great to have GoPro laps back. Can't wait for the Circuit of the Americas.
this was so fun and entertaining!
This track looks incredibly difficult!

Seeing the standing water in puddles mid corner made me clench a little every time 🥴
It was easy to miss the apex in those conditions, especially loading the front up, great lap SC 👍
me too...woooooooo.

bring back the mini lap during race!

Can we get some highlights when the race is over please 😭😭😭

One day I hope to be confident enough in my skills to ride a top spec liter bike on a damp track with no frame sliders.

Simon is the best😊
Woo Hoo! I hear the sand and dust are nasty there..
Finally Toprak goes to motogp
Νice but unfortunatetly, no telemetry data displayed... A GPS speedometer would help a lot.

😁😁😁😁😁
Yay
Still more faster than RC213V Luca Marini 🗿
Let's get him riding a bike, which represents one of the manufacturers in the series perhaps?
I like he's on a bike "we" can ride like many do on track days and road bikes, might help a few seeing that Crafar respects the wet too 👍
I’d give one of my kidneys to get a day of teaching with Simon
Give him a Panigale, Ducati...sheesh.

Not so bad for an old man.
Former GP winner.
