Wow, that baler was just pounding them out! Nice video - have the same thrower (#70) but mounted on a Massey 124 baler. Does a great job, never quite understood the need to change to the 72
Oh Man! This is my youth! Helped bale hay near Millville PA in the late 60's-early 70's. The farmer had pretty much this same set-up. 1206 IH with a New Holland baler with kicker. Even had a Farmall M and an H to shuttle the loads to the barn.
We did it that way for many years until we bought a wagon. Even cut it with a sickle bar. We upgraded our equipment to get it done faster and since help is hard to find to make it easier. Next purchase a discbine.
With just my son and I we can put in about 400 bales per day without killing ourselves in the heat. That includes mowing for the next day and raking what we'll bale that day usually twice. We have a New Holland pull type stacker that makes a difference, but it still takes time and a little bit of skill and luck.
we use an international 434 and a massey ferguson model 9 baler on our farm, we have a 384 for mowing, last year we had a 1952 ferguson TE20 but we traded it for a new 2008 belarus 5440 and the ferguson was used to rake... now we have a 4wd to go on an old vogel & noot rake =) and thats our baling crew
I made out good for the weather last year got all my hay in and none got wet ,even got sec cutting in last year with out getting wet , I am about a hour north east of Wilkes Barre
Did you ever hear of a NH 1033 bale wagon? The price you paid for bale injector you would have bought a nice used baled wagon. Just my thoughts. I put up 160 acres two cuts per year. I only do 1500 to 2000 small squares a year the rest goes rounds. I do it by myself and I don’t touch any bales.
Well on my farm I have places I cut hay that you could never take a one of them and the fact that my barn is pre 1900 and you could never get one of them in to unload it , and the fact that I work a full time job on top of it all dont help much , I do mostly round bales but last year I had 90 left over and did 136 more so I was out of room pretty fast so I had to do squares to finish up the last 3 sections of a field
Looks strange to see headlights mounted on the sides of the hood and none in the fenders on that 856. Do you think that tractor was built new without fenders, or with shell fenders? Flat top fenders were on nearly every big tractor by the time of the 56 series, but they might have still been an option, I guess. Is there some other explanation for the unusual headlights?
Found it to be pretty difficult to put up 1000 bales with only six people and having to stack wagons. Much easier now that we have 6 wagons and a bigger baler.
The farm next to mine does 1,000 bales all the time with about 6 people they have done 2,000 in one day with about 10 or 12 people , I am glad to get 250 or 300 done beings there is only 2 or 3 of us doing it
I think I'll stick to the accumulator and grabber method of operations.... I'd hate to be the guy at the other end sorting that mess into the shed.....
you kidding me? all those bales are unloaded by hands at the elevator, then stacked in the barn, last time I did that (which was last week) a probly lost a couple pounds in sweat cause it was just me and my friend unloading...
Hey, (pardon the pun, folks) I'm a over weight American and I guarantee you that I can white eye you, whoever you think you are. No brag just 65 year old fact.
Some times us Farmers dont have the help we need to stack the wagons , more inportant to stack it in the barn , 99% of farmers are not fat , Guess that part of your comment shows us how ingorant you are , next time you pick up some thing to eat thank us farmerers ;)

Beautiful looking hay, bet the barn smells great.

Nice job,It's nice when everything works like it should.I use a 268 and a 271 I'm getting ready as a back-up with a 1066 and a 766 they all run nice!!

Loved the quick flash up your nose. 🤛🏼✌🏼👍🏼

Kind of old school way of doing it. Most folks use round balers anymore and haul them off with 3 point lift spikes or loader spike to trailers.
looks like it was a nice day out...my grandma always said...gotta make hay while the suns shining
I made out good for the weather last year got all my hay in and none got wet ,even got sec cutting in last year with out getting wet , I am about a hour north east of Wilkes Barre
beautiful looking hay. can't wait till winter is over here in N.E CT
The knotter was the biggest pain. My father kept trying to fix it when he just should have replaced it as it was worn out.

Nice operation you have there! How many acres is the hayfield?

That "grasshopper" just wanted to get into the act. :) Thanks for the memories.

great looking 856 how is the torque amplifier?

whaere in P.A. Are you? looks great tho im from around the clarion area and our hay didnt look this good in 2011 .
How can you tell when your hay is dry enough to bale ? What stage of growth do you cut it at for baling?
o spent many of summer days putting up hay!!...it's a great workout
nice 326 those old girls could eat hay and nice 856 i wish i owned one
Nice video. Nice to see good PA farmers on here.
Hey about a hour from me , How do you like the 856? ,Hay looks good like mine did
Looks like you need to make them a little heavier
The farm next to mine does 1,000 bales all the time with about 6 people they have done 2,000 in one day with about 10 or 12 people , I am glad to get 250 or 300 done beings there is only 2 or 3 of us doing it
We are in the Wilkes Barre area..
Where at near Wilkes Barre cause I live in Wilkes Barre and if you need help I've done hayin for years before I moved.
Nice color! Technicolor!
what model international tractor is that?
How many acres was that and you think you could make a living off of hay farming
david travis you couldn’t make a living off of any farming these days, unless you somehow acquire lots of land in a week.
INTERNATINAL!!! and also nice baler
Pretty lumpy bales. You need to slow down the ground speed to allow the baler to put more strokes in each bale.
I hope by now you learned how to use a video camera and are now aiming the camera at what we are supposed to be watching instead of off into nothing.
I think I'll stick to the accumulator and grabber method of operations.... I'd hate to be the guy at the other end sorting that mess into the shed.....
Nice video.
Great video but you should get a 10 year old to hold that camera still.
Thank you..
you kidding me? all those bales are unloaded by hands at the elevator, then stacked in the barn, last time I did that (which was last week) a probly lost a couple pounds in sweat cause it was just me and my friend unloading...
The old baling system, even with the thrower, was still very labor intensive, if not in the field but in the barn. Usually both.
Mark My dad and I still do it this way even without a thrower lol
Nice video. one bale every 4 to 5 seconds.
A bale every 5 seconds... not bad
good video and subbed
Замечательно очень красиво!
once you buy a discbine, you'll never go back.
Awesome!!! Just pukin bakes out!!!
I live in PA.
INTERNATINAL!!!

BTW nice video
Now this is how farming should be done
Some times us Farmers dont have the help we need to stack the wagons , more inportant to stack it in the barn , 99% of farmers are not fat , Guess that part of your comment shows us how ingorant you are , next time you pick up some thing to eat thank us farmerers ;)
Please, next time you video, GET A TRIPOD!
its a bit quicker actually not stacking them, and stop listening to the stereotypes, not everyone is fat
if we do everything the hard way we won't have time to post or view vids on youtube....
Well there are no fat farmers around me and my self included
baling hay can be sexy
99% arent fat? id say 60% or better are fat. at least in my area anyways. lol
