    You got it all broke up now so dragging a heavy 10' or so steel I-beam over it will get it flat and smooth.

    I have a question. What is the purpose of grading this Field ? I know to make it smoother but what are you going to use it for ? It didn't look too bad to me.

    Controls are the same as an older Cat, pretty much standard. Ran one that size years ago that had a 6 or a 4. That is a 2-71. Buddy had one like that and said it was probably the best machine he had. Tranny went out. Keep your blade on a 45, cut with the toe and leave the heel pretty much alone. Always carry a windrow. Go from side to side and then blade it the other way. The more you wipe it the smoother it gets. Not rocket science and this is what you can do with an angle blade and it's a funny looking Bobcat. GBWYou!

    Real late to this but, having run a 503L and becoming a pretty fair had with it, you did the right thing by calling someone who knows. You can slime your way through with a backhoe, but you have to "operate" a grader if you want any kind of result. Would have loved to have been your neighbor. I work for food.

    Thanks to your friend Johnny for coming over and running the motor grader for you. Agree with you Hank, if you are not familiar with a piece of equipment, have someone help that is. He did a great job for you. Buy him a good meal.

    That's near smooth enough to raise sod. Allegedly, the "trick" with a grader, it pitch the spoil into the next bit of work.

  • @carlformsma8075
    @carlformsma8075 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Grading that sod is wasted of time, too many equipment to used turn over dirt,could have better used a field tiller and get with one equipment, maybe slower but it's, it's done in one, my dad had one ,done it many times...

    If you want to get the sticks and rocks out you can wind row it up and work it back and forth along with someone to pick out the sticks. Probably could use a mixer and run it down the wind rows.
    Then use a water truck to water it and work it back and forth building your base and then lay it down and roll it with a roller . It just depends on what you are wanting to do or what kind of base your needing

    Soft soil and debris suck. If you had clean soil and a steel drum roller to seal and flatten with, he could make it like glass. I've been running motor graders for many years. The biggest most recent issue that I've had is the Cat 140M that they got me. Joysticks and no steering wheel. Old dog, new tricks. I got it figured out though.
