Sometimes our country will choose well and sometimes we just need to support whomever is a shining star in a particular year. NO PC activities, NO PC speeches, NO hatred for anyone, eliminating b**ches (el tocuyo!) and just having fun! I miss those days!❤❤
You are the kind of influencer that I wanna be so blunt but with class I wish I knew more Hispanic influencers like you Luis 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 btw your English it’s amazing very eloquent and great accent.
Regarding the self-proclaimed ”Major Pageant”, in defence of some new pageants I followed, they just focus on their advocacy and aim for the big title with humility, they know it takes time and they are ok with that. Just the fans keep arguing about which ones are the Alpha pageants. So I'm not sure which 1-year-old pageant you mentioned but I hope you can distinguish the fan’s opinion and the organization’s proclamation.
Very well said. Things have goe astray and im thinking of two of the most popular ones. It isnt uplifting their brand and pageantry at all. And very true, fans are fans. They can critique and voice opinions without being mean or unprofessional (sinc ethey call themselves "experts"). As for answering questions, it's good to be prepared but losing the substance, losing the authenticity, the fun, the spontaneity, yeah, I'd score down too. All that being said, I'm really loving the new do ❤❤❤Happy New Year Luis!
One other trend I would love to see the end of: screaming introductions! Oh, how I long for the days when contestants' introductions were confident yet classy rather than the ridiculous and tacky scream fests that they've become of late. I'm sure many eardrums across the globe would be happy to see this silly trend disappear once and for all in 2025!! 😜
And further to what l said, candidates competing for a particular country must have a two-year residency before she can b allowed to compete. Hence the locals have lesser chances to win.
I’ve noticed that in recent beauty pageants, the rehearsed answers seem to be getting a bit repetitive. It’s almost too obvious now, and you can tell contestants have prepped answers for specific questions. The fact that most interviews are on social media makes it easier for delegates to watch and practice those responses ahead of time. What I find interesting is how judges or pageantry organisations often rephrase the same question in different ways, but as an audience, we still recognize the pattern because we've heard it before. It's almost like they're testing the same concept in various forms, which kind of takes away from the originality.
@ or if you say a Leader should have empathy or if you are passionate or you love to inspire people. I’ll score you down! I’ve heard that from a few during national and international pageants.
Amen, to the 1st point, can someone explain to me why Anne and Raul got more screentime during the MU 24 telecast than some of the delegates got in both the preliminary and finals night.
If I was a judge, I would score down a candidate if she says, "I was the winner from last year actually" 💡❌️ If I hear anyone says this, she's not authentic at all
I have only recently started showing a deep interest in these beauty pageants. I so enjoy your feedback around these pageants. You really are insightful. And I agree with you on the highlighted points. 😍😍😍
Wow time go so fast when you speak , i did not want you to stop lol , Just keep going !! But you are so on point with everything I get so excited when i see you have a new video . Lots of love from South Africa x x x
Major pageants don't need to tell people they are number one or a major pageant. Similar with rich people - they do not need to wear flashy clothes or proclaim they are rich, because they do not care or they let their action speaks louder than words
What about the countries that are self-proclaimed Powerhouses. And countries that buys titles, or host countries let their host candidate place higher despite the lackluster performance?
Yes Beauty Queen Should Not be arrogant, yeah she should have attitude but not arrogance 😊😊.My second Issue is Every National Peagent Should be given timeline bcz queens not getting enough time to prepare with compare to others.
Thank you for including the male pageants cos there was unpleasant energy from one of the male pageants' contestants to the point where they started to question criteria for placing in the top 5 cos they didn't place as highly as they were certain they would.
Okay but which pageant is overall the most unproblematic. Grand int. had the best production this year but Nawat sparking drama was soooooo tired and unprofessional. Yes Miss Myanmar was wrong but he literally sat there and informally spoke unpreparedly on a press conference where it wasn't even relevant to speak on it, despite being asked to. Idk that took away the moment from grand especially after miss france's dismissal. I miss when the owners didn't really get involved. Dare I say Donald trump (a known public figure in his own capacity) set a very good example in this regard, having HIGH calibre queens win from various DIFFERENT countries with a very different top 5 like every year? Crazy how tryna get clout is what these owners are chasing instead of producing something of HIGH quality and letting THAT speak for itself.
Luis Portelles just solidify his space in the pageant world as a REAL and TRUSTED pageant Analyst! A man whonis over the glits and gloss of pageants. Di gaya ng iba dyan!
indeed all you said are true, its hard for Ms. Grand to become major coz the no. of participating countries are fewer compared to the big four. and the cooperation of participating countries Ms. Grand national pageant is almost non existence among countries it is handpicked didnt bother to have no nat'l competition. big 4 were declared way before Ms Grand was born the ranking is undisputable.
For Me Advocacy Is Something Which Carriers A Legacy Which Is Important For Spreading Awareness Sustainability In This World And We Have Such An Great Examples Like Miss Earth,Miss World , Miss International And Miss Universe in Past We Have Seen This Pageant Have Such An Great Advocacy and Worked For Charity In Project When It Comes To Entertainment The Miss Grand Is Overrated it Doesn't Have A Proper Advocacy The Queen's Are Only For Entertainment Legacy That's Why Miss Grand Can't Be Big 4 Miss Grand = Entertainment
And yeah, I'm REALLY tired of Asian fans being racist to literally every good African or black representative. Like them STILL bashing Zozi to this day is so crazy and wild to me. It's ALWAYS the Asians, not even Europe.🙄🥴🤡
Zozi is like a President of a country (or First Lady), with such commanding presence. She opens her mouth and people will listen! She's so good! Well-deserved crown/victory! Unfortunately, there will always be racist people.
Great list. All facts. Well-articulated. Though word of caution, you may tone down a little on the use of AAVE when delivering your points. To me it's okay, as it does imbue whatever you're talking about with sass and bite, but others, particularly in the African-American community, may not take too kindly to it and accuse you of cultural appropriation. You are perfectly fine speaking as you normally would with your own regional accent that's already charming as it is.
Luis...how about too much emphasis on PASARELLA WALK, especially in the swimsuit competition? At what point during her reign will the beauty queen be required to execute a pasarella walk wearing a swimsuit?
@@LuisPortelles Which makes me wonder how first round semifinalists with inferior pasarella walks get to advance to the next round despite less than impressive performances in the semifinal swimsuit competition. At the 2024 MU, for example...how on earth did Misses NIGERIA, CANADA, THAILAND, PERU, and BOLIVIA beat Misses DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, CUBA, PHILIPPINES, FINLAND, and ECUADOR in the semifinal swimsuit competition if pasarella walk, confidence, and physical fitness were the criteria for selecting the top 12? And if pasarella walk were again a factor in selecting the top 5, then please explain how Misses NIGERIA, MEXICO, and THAILAND outscore Misses CHILE and PUERTO RICO in the top 12 evening gown competition? Too...the MISS WORLD Beauty Pageant, which many would argue as most prestigious of them all, places almost zero bearing to pasarella walk in choosing their queen.
@@paengs.delrosario7804because only pasarela is not being scored.. Sometimes if a girl score less in pasarela then she might surpass other girls (with good walk) in different rounds....sum total for her is more than other good walkers
You missed the trend of using the term 'Grandslam Pageants'. It's so cringy. I get the other terms like Major, Big, Alpha Pageants. But Grandslam???? It's a term related to sports like tennis and it doesn't even relate to the word MAJOR or BIG. I really cringe when I see it on pageant pages. 🤭🤢
Actually I think this entire paegentry being "motivational and inspirational(too much used words in paegentry)" is fake. In the end its all about business, physical beauty and fit bodies!
I think all pageants should be stopped, as they have become irrelevant in this modern era. Back in the '90s, pageants were a significant platform for women to show the world that they could work and were capable of doing the same jobs as men. Women could be leaders and so on. But now, in 2025, women are already more active and involved, just like men. We can already see the equality between men and women when it comes to professional work and other areas. In today's era, what more can pageants accomplish? Everything that needed to be done has already been achieved and is ongoing. Hearing about pageants in this day and age just seems boring and irrelevant.🧐🙄
Pageants now are becoming very frustrating when age limit was moved upwards, married women are allowed to compete, and even trans are already welcome to join. Gone are d days when truly d essence of beauty was pure. The old ladies who had been joining pageants for quite sometime are monopolizing d stage. Pageants was better when candidates’s age was pegged at 28, no married women, no trans.
