Personally, I love every freaking song this man sings/writes!!! But, this song is up there at the top of the list from my favorite Chris Stapleton song! If there’s anybody out there who says they don’t like Chris Stapleton, that’s all right dude, just gives more for us! The man is up there, really!!! It’s Sunday night and I just recorded 60 minutes doing an interview with Chris. The man is so modest and humble. How can you not live him!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
First song was done by willie Nelson “Night life”. You are my sunshine Chris did a cover with his wife. Both songs covered by Aretha on her 1967 album “Aretha Arrives”. A tribute to both Willie Nelson and Aretha.

This was actually a tribute to Aretha Franklin. Jennifer is in the movie about Aretha, Respect. Chris did a tribute to Aretha when she died also saying Aretha was one of his favorite. These are songs Aretha performed both I believe were released as country music when Aretha performed them

"You are my sunshine" is a tribute to Willie Nelson and so is the song before it. Willie Nelson is a well known country artist. They chose those songs as a tribute to him. He recorded these songs as well. I wanted them to sing something that would showcase both voices. But these were chosen out of respect for Willie Nelson.

The Statler Brothers brought back the song into the modern era, they are extremely country and this song was published in 1939, “You Are My Sunshine”, written by Jimmie Davis, is one of the most popular country songs. It has been adopted by the Louisiana State as the state song. They were giving country music homage to the Statler Brothers.

It is funny. I don't have any Stapleton or Hudson on my playlist, but I fully recognize that the two of them could single circles around any of the artists on my playlist. Well, with the possible exceptions of Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston and Axl Rose. But you just know that virtually every super-star artist in that audience was envious of those two voices.

Chris is great, no doubt. But even Chris stayed in his lane with JHud on the stage. I love JHud! Can't think of any better than JHud out there right now.
Jennifer is a better technical singer with a bigger range… but Chris is a whole ass experience. He doesn’t have to hit every note perfectly for it to be just as amazing. They’re still two of the best today has to offer, regardless.

This dude is crazy reacting to the video. Instead of enjoying the performance he’s salty because Chris Stapleton didn’t out sing Jennifer Hudson. What rock has he been under? First, this is the second time Jennifer’s been at a country music event and she had the audience on their feet then when she performed Believe. Second, there aren’t too many singers who are going to out sing Jennifer Hudson and that’s a fact. Stapleton knew that and bailed out on a note when he looked at his guitar player and ended it. We all saw that. It doesn’t mean Stapleton isn’t a great singer, it meant that he recognized he was in over his head vocally. But I enjoyed what both artists brought to the stage. It was a fantastic performance.
Dude.. Chris didn't bail on nothing... he supported Jennifer beutifully. Jennifer sings effortlessly. But Stevie appreciates Stapleton's gritty vocals, and fire soul. I'm gonna be honest... Jennifer needs to dig deeper for that grit and soul. If she ever connected that with her effortless singing.. she would be greater than Whitney and Aretha combined. But she ain't there yet...
