I contacted them for a custom order but when it came to checking out they wouldn't allow me to pay with PayPal but rather with a money order...can I trust that? I prefer PayPal because you can always have proof of the interchange

I actually love that guitar. Unfortunately I didn't have the money when they were Being sold at amazon. The reason I wanted One of those Guitars is. Back in 1999. My whole life changed and I moved halfway across the country. In 2000. Phil Collin of death leppard. Played Ace Harville. On the promises video of their new album euphoria. I had moved to a small town in nebraska and I had to drive so far every day. I listen to Euphoria and this song Promises hundreds of times And I'll always remember that video. And how much I loved that album and Back guitar he was playing. It looks lthe one on your video. Hopefully someday they will re release that decor and makes some more. I'll be watching your live wednesday.. Always look forward to it.
I must be a little dyslexic. I always read it as IVY instead of IYV. I stand corrected. Nice guitar. As of October 2023, they are back in stock on Amazon.
I don't think there are very many copies of this guitar out there. It seems they sell out on Amazon really quickly and then it takes a while to get back in stock. It still sold out.
YOU got FedX. Doubtful everyone else will. Not an issue. Patience is a virtue. Sounds great, looks great....I have no issue with cheaper guitars as I have a few, and all play well above their weight/price point. They all needed some massaging but at the end of the day, that makes it more fun and turns it into a deeper hobby than just playing the instrument. I sometimes read of people taking their guitar to a shop for a string change and i just cringe.
I really enjoy working on and modding the cheaper guitars. This lead me into making my own custom guitars, which is even more fun. Thanks for watching.
@@thebaldshredder oh man. Oh OK. I'm sure one day you'll try one. They are seriously insane. But 400 USD give or take. I don't know about the newer models. I have the t first run. Wish it was strat type but its amazing anyway. Haha. They spec them out well ...they are not extremely expensive hardware and pups are Roswell but they are quite responsive and all. I'm sure you've seen the line anyway. They are very cool.
I have a custom electric made in Vietnam by a Chinese luthier. It's hand-made and some of the parts are cheap but it looks and plays so great I haven't bothered upgrading anything. Based on my experience I wouldn't hesitate a bit to buy a production guitar from there.
I got mine and it has some issues. Frets are rough and some of the edges are sharp. No big deal and easy to fix. Tuning keys are terrible. 3 out of the 6 are loose and won’t tighten up. Fret board was dry. Again, no big deal. Tuning keys and fretboard are easy to fix. Nut is plastic as usual. What really bothers me is the saddle height adjustment screws are too short or too long. I can’t adjust the saddles properly because of this. So a setup is impossible. I have 3 IYV guitars and this one is the worst in quality. I don’t know if I’ll keep it or invest the time and money to fix it. It’s a beautiful guitar and would probably be worth it to fix. I’m just really disappointed with this one. IYV is usually more attentive to these things. Maybe this one just slipped through.
*contoured neck joint😂 Those IYV are spectacular guitars. I own 5 different models. A couple are rubbish (I’m looking at you Brian May clone) but most are AMAZING. Especially for the price
Richard you may be able to get even cheaper shipping on that from iyv themselves because iyv lately has been offering shipping with the guitar broken down, meaning that they will ship it without the neck attached. I would go to their website and find out directly from them if that is still possible but that would be a significant savings of almost 50% on shipping
@@thebaldshredder 👍...loved the review. While I have your attention; what (if anything) do you know of a Chinese guitar company called Otenee? They've got a heap of awesome looking axes listing between 200-400$... A neck thru Tele style has my attention, but there are zero reviews that I can find on them. If you hear of anything by them, would like to see a review...
Interesting... On Amazon, it's $164.75 w/free shipping, but sold out. On Ebay, it's $154, PLUS $167.07 shipping. 😬 Update: You mentioned this right after I typed it out.
Anyone noticing the ol' bait and switch recently on these budget Asian guitars? Eart (to this day) offers incredible value on their Strandberg and Kiesel copies but they're going for $500 plus $150 shipping. Initially they were plugged to every TH-camr with $250 all in prices and once they built steam, the prices are now up. Like your pot dealer in highschool who gave you the goodgood in big amounts then cut back quality and quantity once you were loyal. My conspiracy theory is that these are actually $500-$800 guitars but to get exposure they price them at almost break-even numbers. Can't blame them; even for $500 this guitar is a steal. But things like roasted maple necks, locking tuners, stainless frets, exotic woods, and premium fitment only existed on custom shops or elite $3000 guitars until a few years ago and these companies are now offering $300, so I'm not surprised their prices aren't stable. One of my favourite things about these guitars is it's removing that elitist gatekeeping and forcing companies to do better and offer more; Epiphone offers more options than Gibson these days and even still people are bored of nickle frets, poly finishes and "classic" (old) designs. Great review btw!
I used to think playing guitar well, or in your case shredding on your level, is being presented as a sideshow, wich would have been the main course in the old days. My compliments to your ability to shred so well. To shred or not to shred ...that is the question..whether it is nobler in the hands and fingers, the strings and tensions of outrageous speed, the mind that tries to follow .....oh..and of course, the main feat...the instrument on wich such dazzling performance can be executed so well!!
Man I can believe it,S.Korea guitars are blowing U S A away on building .Why not Vatnam Ive worked veatnamise people ,They out work the americans I was superviser at a wood carving company. They were perfectionist
These things are not what you get. The crap I received twice, is not good at all. Replace everything and you have an okay guitar but that Baretta Special is a lot better for example. Way more consistent.
I know the feeling. That's why one of my new year's resolutions is to teach myself to refret a guitar neck. I got three packs of jumbo 6100 frets ready to go!
The body is killer, the headstock is horrific. Strat, Explorer, Les Paul, Jackson, or Baretta Special/Vintage all have acceptable headstocks. That's ALMOST a Strat and it's almost ok.
Disappointed. Bought 1 from Amazon, exchanged it. Both had the same issues: Neck is completely different color than what's in this video, headstock isn't even finished, other defects but with both of them, the scale length is incorrect. You cannot intonate these, even with the saddles all the forward, all strings are flat after the 12th fret. The two I received are not like what's reviewed here.
@@thebaldshredder I had a similar experience however I kept it with a SIGNIFICANT discount applied. I was most disappointed that the neck and headstock color was not dark at all and barely roasted. Pickups are quite microphonic. So now to fix/upgrade. What is the model number of the Tusq nut that you installed Richard? I don't want to order the wrong one. I made this mod on my Kramer Baretta Specials which helped significantly. Any other mods you can suggest with brand specfic parts?
@@JudgeShred I too kept it with a discount after I exchanged it. The second was even worse than the first. Surprisingly, the nut slots on the second were actually filed, it's just that the nut itself was a mile high. I simply filed the top of the nut in place so the strings weren't buried in it. On the first guitar, the nut was slanted in the slot and would need to be replaced. Other mods: replaced the coil split switch since it arrived broken and soldered incorrectly anyway. Tighten neck bolts because they were loose, as well as the tuners. 2 other solder joints were loose so I redid them -- maybe check those and then try the pickups. After fixing those issues, it actually sounds pretty good and plays well too. Sorry I know the question wasn't directed to me :D
@@MattL-iq3uq Appreciate the reply and advice. I’ll review your recommendations. The neck actually feels very nice with ZERO fret sprout. Lots of potential so let’s see what we can turn this into. Look forward to hearing more.
@@JudgeShred TUSQ XL 5042-00. However, you need to make sure that's the right one since the neck on yours appears to be different. Look up the 5042-00 and look at the measurements. Then look at the nut on the guitar and make sure it matches up. Like the total width across, and from E to E. Good luck!

The Grote only cost $151 with tax and shipping from Amazon. These budget guitars have come along way , I don't know how they're keeping the prices so low , but I ain't complaining! Good demo bro , from the bald subscriber 🤣 Power to the bald crew!✌️🤘
Thanks dude. Bald power! 🤘
@@thebaldshredder ✌️🤘
After CNC became a thing, the man-hours involved dropped considerably.
@@minkorrh Yeah I'm sure that's a big part of keeping the costs down. I'm still amazed at how nice they're though , neither one had a flaw or blemish. The Grote is gloss black and I couldn't find swirl marks or anything and both came with the pearloid inlays. I wish we had this many options 30 years ago!
just ordered one today. It is available today
I contacted them for a custom order but when it came to checking out they wouldn't allow me to pay with PayPal but rather with a money order...can I trust that? I prefer PayPal because you can always have proof of the interchange
They are 100% legit. They aren't out to scam anyone. Over a dozen of my viewers have sent me pics of their custom orders. If you pay them, they will make it and ship it to you.
They have a neck through, ISSY-200, double humbuckersa and Wilkinson 2 point trem. It seems like a good fit for you.
That was one of the best original jams on YT ever!
Thanks! I try to make an original jam for most of my guitar reviews.
What you're saying is, if I buy this guitar, I can play like this? Yeah, baby! I am soooo getting one! Lol
Very good, informative and entertaining video. Thanks.
Yes, exactly! Thanks.
From Vietnam with love
So I got a question how does this compare to the Yamaha Pacifica PA012?
No idea. Never played one.
I can’t believe this is the only video on this instrument.
I don't think there are very many copies of this guitar out there. It seems they sell out on Amazon really quickly and then it takes a while to get back in stock. It still sold out.
Can't find the specs to replace that nut anywhere. Can you post specs or a link so we can order guitar and nut at same time. Thanks
It's best to get the guitar and then measure the nut. Not every batch is going to be the same so impossible to say the exact size of the nut.
Got mine. Sadly it does not have a roasted maple neck.
Great new jam Richard and very nice review of the guitar. By the way what amp simulation software are you using? Regards,

I had a LTD from Vietnam. M80. Nice build quality. Great Axe and review Bald Shredder! Is this close to Harley Benton Fusion in feel and finish ???/
Thanks. I've never tried a Fusion. I've only played the one cheap black Harley Benton that I have and it's not very good.
Yeah I've seen them. When HB decides to send me one for free, then I'll give it a try! lol
I have a custom electric made in Vietnam by a Chinese luthier. It's hand-made and some of the parts are cheap but it looks and plays so great I haven't bothered upgrading anything. Based on my experience I wouldn't hesitate a bit to buy a production guitar from there.
Whats the fret material?
nickel
Do they make a hsh version of that guitar

Thanks! It's on my new album Speed of Light.
Any idea as what the weight is on these?
They will ship with neck removed for about half that eBay shipping price. Have to ask for that
Not in stock today. I really like the look of that one over the racing stripe one.
Looks and sounds nice.
Is the neck thin? I like thin necks
It's not Ibanez thin, but still fairly thin.
@@thebaldshredder well I just ordered one, It got bad reviews, but I trust the bald shredder!
Luckily it has free returns, so if you don't like it just send it back.
What pedal boatd u used?
No pedals. Line 6 POD Farm on my computer.
@@thebaldshredder love the tones....can I say what amp model was used?
Solo 100
@@thebaldshredder thx! Caribbean viewer here.
Maybe this one just slipped through.
what´s the neck radius?
*contoured neck joint😂
Those IYV are spectacular guitars. I own 5 different models. A couple are rubbish (I’m looking at you Brian May clone) but most are AMAZING. Especially for the price
I agree, even with the contoured neck joint! 😁
Blad guy can shred!
Good to know!
Never heard of them, but I'll be on the lookout.
Interesting... On Amazon, it's $164.75 w/free shipping, but sold out. On Ebay, it's $154, PLUS $167.07 shipping. 😬
Update: You mentioned this right after I typed it out.
Yep
Cuestion please... ¿¿¿Is it heavy or not??? (I like the heavy guitars) Can you hand me the net weight? if you don't mind of course.
7 pounds
@@thebaldshredder Thanks my friend...
Thanks! That's why I always say get 'em now. Don't wait because prices will just go up.
Pleasantly surprised, but I really cannot buy another guitar, I already have 5 guitars and am running out of space.
I'm going with a custom 7 string
There's a storm coming meahahaha 😉

These things are not what you get. The crap I received twice, is not good at all. Replace everything and you have an okay guitar but that Baretta Special is a lot better for example. Way more consistent.
IYV makes most guitars labeled made in vietnam
I had no idea! 😃
I’m tired of buying medium Jumbos fret guitars, I need Jumbo, but side for metal/ shred guitars they are not standard on anything else.
I know the feeling. That's why one of my new year's resolutions is to teach myself to refret a guitar neck. I got three packs of jumbo 6100 frets ready to go!
@@thebaldshredder that’s smart, I’ve weighed my options of buying new necks with jumbo ss or paying someone both are over $400.
A pack of Dunlop jumbo frets is under $20. Imagine how much we can save by refretting a guitar ourselves! I have to learn.
My LTD EC256 was made in Vietnam
How is it?
@@thebaldshredder
I bought it circa 2014, well made, but the pickups sounded a bit muddy for me, at the time I paid $299, they're about $600 now lol
The body is killer, the headstock is horrific. Strat, Explorer, Les Paul, Jackson, or Baretta Special/Vintage all have acceptable headstocks. That's ALMOST a Strat and it's almost ok.
😅 yeah thanks
Disappointed. Bought 1 from Amazon, exchanged it. Both had the same issues: Neck is completely different color than what's in this video, headstock isn't even finished, other defects but with both of them, the scale length is incorrect. You cannot intonate these, even with the saddles all the forward, all strings are flat after the 12th fret. The two I received are not like what's reviewed here.
Sorry to hear this.
Good luck!
