Joes would come second for me. Glad you enjoyed the box.
Good job with the box! :) Yes, KC BBQ (and burnt ends in particular) is the BEST! I'm from Iowa so I visit KC every now and then - I have to try your restaurant recommendations!
Great goody box! So thoughtful to include the dog! I don't know whether they didn't see this, or if they don't know it's you! If they did, I'm sure they'd pin it. Right, @YourNZFamily? ;)
That was such a wonderful idea to send them girl scout cookies! We got 2 people at work every year from Europe or one from France and 1 from Latin America. I always make an effort to order some for them so that they can experience it as well. Particularly in the last year when they can't go out and do a lot of things because of the pandemic I try to make their stay here as interesting as possible
Girl Scout Cookies are an American institution. It's only sold for a few months each year. When I was in Iraq girl scout groups donated cookies and sent them to the soldiers. It was such a wonderful feeling of home except the desert heat melted the cookies in transit so the Thin Mints for example melted into Log Mints. They were still tasty!
A lot of us bought a bunch of cookies and asked the Girl Scouts to send them to the Troops. We gave them the extra money for shipping, of course. But, that was done quite often.
Hello from a former girl scout. The scouts sold these cookies to raise money for our troop projects and trips. I was the only girl in my county who completed every level of scouts starting at daisy's all the way through seniors in high school. I learned so much from being a girl scout from lessons in teamwork to survival skills. FYI thin mints best served after freezing and peanut butter sandwiches are delicious dipped in a glass of cold milk.
I'm not a fan of dipping them (peanut butter patties) in milk. Mainly because the milk just rolls off of the chocolate. You need a dry cookie to soak up the milk. Just don't get the same result with the patties. But I agree 100% with the Thinmints in the freezer
Now you know the "problem" with Girl Scout Cookies...they’re as addictive as crack cocaine; they are REALLY good. My weakness is the "Thin Mints;" I can go through a sleeve of those without even realizing it. They're really good if you put them in the freezer.
@@spsniper1170 Oh, those are REALLY good, too. I'm able to hold off...only to find that my wife has eaten the rest of the box. I guess that's why I haven't gained much weight in years... I didn't say it, and you shouldn't have thought it... 😆
Many Americans look forward to Girl Scout "season" each year! It is a charitable fund raiser for the Girl Scouts. The cookies are great and we all have favorites.
I have bought the Thin mints in multiple cases at times. I used them for bribes with load planners when I drove trucks over the road. I would get the loads I wanted 99% of the time when walking in with a box of thin Mints in hand. Thin Mints is also my weakness I love them frozen with a cold glass of milk, plain and simple works for me.
Thin mints on s'mores instead of chocolate is the BEST THING EVER! That idea came from girl scout camp. Also... Does anyone else remember when each cookie had one name and not multiple depending on bakery, shortbread was called Trefoils, caramel delights were called Samoas, peanut butter patties were called Do-si-Dos, peanut butter sandwiches were called tagalongs and they looked different, the amount of lemon cookie types and names we've gone through. I was a girl scout, I've been in 2 states and they always had ONE name, now I keep getting different troops with different cookie names depending on which bakery supplies them and it's just so confusing. Like they're all girl scout cookies, why does each bakery have different names for the cookies?🤔🤨
We can only get girl scout cookies once a year so whoever got you these planned this box for when they came out. Which means your channel is very special to them. Glad you all enjoy our favorite treats
I used to be able to buy them all year round here where I live, then Radio Shack went out of business. I still get them through my local Taco John's where the manager gets them for me.😊❤
For years now the Girl Scouts have been selling outside of grocery stores, and other businesses. When I was a Girl Scout, we still went door to door. Also, our parents would take an order sheet to work for their co-workers to order some too. The varieties are actually very regional. Not all flavors are available in all locations across the states. I like Lemonades and Peanut Butter Patties, but my all-time fav is Samoas. Hands down. SO good. And as others have said, Thin Mints in the freezer. You won't regret it!
There are 2 bakers in the US for Girl Scout cookies. The Thin Mints at each are the same recipe, the main cookies (Samoas/Caramel Delights, Trefoils/Shortbreads, Do-Si-Dos/Peanut butter sandwiches, Tagalongs/Peanut butter patties) are always there. The lemon and others change but each baker has 1 lemon flavored cookie each year and 1 gluten free each year. In the last several years they added the S'Mores cookies. The types you get depend on which of the 2 bakers your council chooses to partner with. Ours uses Little Brownie which is actually the original bakery.
@@yowyo2006 , Wisconsin troops must partner with both because some kids have cookies that others don't, but it is one town over to get the ones they are missing.
Peanut Butter Patties are my favorite! Except where I live, they're called Tagalongs. Interesting fact about Girl Scout cookie names: The Girl Scouts contract with two different cookie manufacturers who make the same cookies, but use different names. So while your box said Peanut Butter Patties, if I ordered them where I live, they'd be called Tagalongs. The Caramel Delights are called Samoas. Shortbread cookies are also known as Trefoils, and Peanut Butter Sandwiches are also called Do-Si-Dos.
There are 200 million boxes of girl scout cookies sold each year. When we hear they're going to get ready to sell them, we go ahead and order then to make sure we get our favorites

I was a Girl Scout and my daughter was too. The practical lessons learned have been core values that have guided my life. I am now in my early fifties and am grateful for what Girl Scouts has done for my daughter and me.
I was “COOKIE MOM” for our daughters Girl Scout troop for 5 years….. huge job, but so much fun! We love Girl Scout cookies in US. In season you can’t enter or exit a local grocery without the girls outside selling their delicious cookies. Great video! ~Cara 😊
@@FirstNameLastName-wt5to Every year that is not a pandemic year, they have set up a table inside of the dorm where our cafeteria is, just outside the cafeteria doors. Brilliant marketing!

Dr pepper was invented in Texas in a pharmacy back when there were old fashioned sodas where they would add the syrups to the carbonation by hand. The inventor put every syrup available in the shop, cherry being one of them. The 23 on the packaging is in reference to the syrups used.
Ashley I'm old enough to remember and to have enjoyed the old fashioned soda fountains! The desegregation of them in the 60s was a pivotal part of the Civil rights movement!
@@oldfogey4679 Your name gave me a smile. While I am fairly young (30), it has been said that I have an old soul. I think I would have enjoyed living during that time. Minus the segregation bit. I've always thought it was a terrible thing.
Yes. Originally (the syrup) was used for medicinal…digestion, I believe. There is a Dr. Pepper museum in Waco, Tx. I can’t remember the whole story, been too long since I’ve been there.
When I was a girl scout in the mid '60's, there were only 3 cookies available (at least in my area), Thin Mints (my mom would freeze them), Shortbread (Trefoils) and my still favorite, peanut butter sandwich (Do-si-dos) and sold for 50₵ a box, which was quite expensive even though the boxes were larger. I have hard time remembering when they go on sale and since I'm retired, I don't get them from coworker's daughters anymore.
Oh no! You need to write that on your calendar! They're sold outside almost every store in my area (some stores even let them set up inside) so it's hard for me to miss them.... And buy all the thin mints.
@Carrieann McLeod I remember when the Do-si-dos were still called "Peanut Butter Round-ups"-I loved both those and the Shortbread (thin mints were okay), but I've just never really gotten into the "new" flavors. :-)
Im from canada and I wish we had girl scout cookies here for me to try in my taste testing videos !!! We have Girl Guides of canada and they only have two cookies as far as I know. Im actually planning on doing a whole video trying that same brand of beef jerky !!!!
I love thin mints, and also the peanut butter cookies you liked too. Really can’t go wrong with Girl Scott cookies. Very high quality. They are expensive though, so this was VERY generous of your contributor! In the last few months I discovered the nacho cheese bugles and LOVE them too. And the chocolate covered pretzels are great, my favorite being the white chocolate though. This guy who sent you this had great taste, this is high quality snack food!
Hi, I'm from Connecticut and I just want to say that I found it interesting that except for Thin Mints, the cookie you got are named differently then from Missouri. Caramel delites ( I say caramel like you guys do ) are called Samoas, the shortbread ones are called Trefoils, The peanut butter patties are called Tag-a-longs, the lemonades are designed differently and called Lemon-ups, the peanut butter sandwiches are called Do-si-dos and I personally haven't heard or tried the other ones. Samoas, Trefoils, Tag-a-longs and Do-si-dos, if I remember correctly, have been that name since as long as I remember and I'm in my 50's. Must be a marketing thing.
It depends on which baker the local Girl Scout council has the contract with. Girl Scouts of Maine where I live has the contract with ABC cookies, so in Maine I'd find the line of cookies featured in this video. However, if I jumped the border to New Hampshire, the council there is contracted with Little Brownie Bakers, and they have the trademark for the cookie names you mentioned. In addition to differences in names, the cookies themselves are slightly different. For example, thin mints from ABC are solid chocolate in color, and the last time I got a batch from LBB, the cookie inside was beige. Additionally, each baker is required to have the standard 5 flavors of thin mint, caramel coconut, shortbread, and the two peanut butter varieties, beyond that they can put out 3 unique flavors that season.
My sister was a Girl Scout (well Brownie) and one year we were the cookie house cuz the normal cookie family couldn't do it that year. There is nothing quite like seeing your dinning room filled floor to ceiling with girl scout cookies and knowing you can't eat them. Being the cookie family is a lot of work, props to the ones that do it every year, we never wanted to do it again lol.
FIrst off... Everone on this side of the screen watching y'all could actually taste the cookies you were eating.. we knew you would not like the shortbreads.. or the peanutbutter after you ate the chocolate peanut butter one.. the thin mints I would give a second look at.. Put them in the freezer.. and try them with our with out milk the next day.. its a treat.. Well done.
Im from canada and I wish we had girl scout cookies here for me to try in my taste testing videos !!! We have Girl Guides of canada and they only have two cookies as far as I know.
I have been binging your videos for days. Such a nice break from our politics right now. I just had to comment about your sweet dog. He was laying quietly to the side but the minute the box opened he was all about something in there is DEFINITELY for me! So sweet dog treats were included.
My favorites are Peanut Butter Patties and Thin Mints. Girl Scout Cookies are only sold for a few weeks in February each year and a good amount of the profits are given to each troop. My mom, may she RIP, was a troop leader for me and my sisters decades ago and each winter our family room would be chalk full of Girl Scout cookies and tons of cardboard boxes that we would fill with orders from church friends, family, my parent co-workers, neighbors, and teachers. Thanks for providing a bit of nostalgia for us.
My mom was a troop leader too but it was when we were stationed in France -Air Force brat - and my sister and I ALWAYS had to be in full uniform. We had a sister troop of French Girl Scouts that we had many activities with, very fond memories and they LOVED our cookies 😊
As a former Girl Scout, I love the caramel Delites or (Samoas in some states) and the Thin mints. A nice trick with the Thin Mint is to put them in the freezer. They are so good cold! Thin Mints and also good with ice cream.
My daughter is a girl scout and every cookie season when they sell these we end up with a whole case or two of each cookie then mom and dad gain 5lbs each in a short amount of time. Good stuff 👏
Jack Links makes a teriyaki flavor that's my favorite flavor. Walkers shortbread is the only good brand we have access to here. Girl Scout cookies are basically a yearly fund raising vehicle. Some types are better than others, but the exclusivity of being available only for a short time every year makes them that much more special to us enthusiasts :)

Who would have thought that watching a video of people tasting food would be SOOOOOOO entertaining? I'm not sure how I stumbled on your channel, but I'm glad I did. I am really enjoying watching you all experience some of the different flavors of our country. I was stationed in Europe when I was in the Air Force and I had the opportunity to visit many countries. I always enjoyed trying the different foods. My favorite food to try were the different breads. But here in the United States, every state that you go to is like visiting a different country because every state has their unique tradition. And with tradition, comes EXCELLENT food. I'm from New Mexico, and we have a completely different type of food, some of which is not recognized in any other states (& New Mexican food is different than Mexican food, although we do share a lot flavors) It is very touching to see all the generosity some folks here in the U.S. have. There are a lot of great people here in the U.S. who are kind, caring and generous. But we do have more than our fair share of the opposite kind as well. Enjoy and keep having fun & making videos. They are great. If ever you are in New Mexico, send me a message
When I was in Iraq, my roommate's family owned a beef jerky company. I got to eat free beef jerky the entire time I was there because they kept sending him care packages.

3 - 2 - ONE! That was so, so cute! I loved it! I’m so happy that the generous sender included Thin Mints in your goody package! They are probably the most popular Girl Scout cookie.
As a former leader I can confirm that Thin Mints are the #1 cookie! Girls sell as many Thin Mints as all of the other flavors combined. Our orders tend to be 50% thin mints then the other 50% divided by the popularity of each cookie (Samoas and Tagalongs come in at 2nd and 3rd for popularity).
Wow, I’m from Missouri as well! It’s crazy just a century ago we would never have been able to accomplish sharing anything like this with each other. Greetings from St. Louis and best wishes to you and your incredible family!
Ther my great friend was from east st Louis! He always called Missouri misery! He said i left misery and brought my misery with me meaning his wife! So I'm guilty of mispronounced ur states name! Some say Missoura is this correct? I've been to st Louis and really like Missourians!
One key difference from a century ago is the long distance flight needed to deliver that box from Missouri to New Zealand. And speaking of the history of long distance flight- the name of your city plays a role “The Spirit of St Louis”
@@oldfogey4679 Our state was named after the Missouri Indians who lived here. Since all of them are dead, no one actually knows how they pronounced it. I was told "There is no misery in Missoura" but you can pronounce it any way you choose. I have noticed country folk usually say Misery and city folk often say Missoura. Fun fact: St Louis is in the growing cusp and can successfully grow northern and southern plants, so have more variety of plants than anywhere else (hence why we are first on the allergy list in Spring!). It is why the Danforth Center to end world hunger is here. BTW East St Louis is in Illinois, not Missouri.
I’m from Southern Missouri (from SE, but mostly grew up in SW), lived in small towns my whole life. I naturally say Missour-ee, not Missour-uh. Though when I’m watching Mizzou, I say Mizzou-RAH!… Or, more so lately, “son of a #$&@%”.🤦🏻♂️

So, many Americans are very excited for Girl Scout “season”. My favorites are the peanut butter patties and caramel delights! I like the Thin mints too but I have to be in a certain mood to snack on mint flavored stuff.😊💜
First off I’m from Missouri as well and I just absolutely love your guys videos! Ok so you may know this by now but a potato skin is a whole potato cut in half with a filling in it and sometimes it’s baked again. It may have cheese, bacon, chives, butter, sour cream. And those tgi friday chips are just in the flavor of a potato sling from tgi Friday’s!!! So the potatoes are usually baked until the middle is cooked through, then you scoop out the filling of each half of the potatoes and combine all of your ingredients in a bowl, mix it together, then put it back into the potato. Now you can stop there or you can put the potatoes back into the oven to cook more!
Commenting before watching but I hope whoever sent them told you to freeze the Thin Mints before eating them. I also freeze the Samoas(caramel delights, they are named different in different areas). Now that I have seen it, you definitely need to try those two frozen, might get all 8 of those thumbs up.
I just love and adore that you guys are so observant of all the little details each package comes with. It just goes to show how much you truly appreciate your packages, and no doubt means alot to the sender. It's always a pleasure watching you experience American culture. 😊
I stumbled across this channel a couple days ago, and I just love hearing your reactions. I am totally blind so cannot see the video. But, I was a Girl Scout growing up. And the person who said we all look forward to Girl Scout season is correct. It runs from about mid January to the end of March. We are coming up to the end of it this year. Each year, the Girl Scouts come up with a couple of new flavors. So some stick around for a while, while others are gone quickly. We have two bakeries that make them in the United States ABC bakers and little brownie bakers. Growing up, we got all of ours from little brownie bakers because, they have more fun names to the cookies. ABC do the same type of cookies, just without the fun names. Example, ABC call them caramel delights, wild little brownie bakers call them samoas And, oh yeah thin mints out of the freezer or refrigerator they are the bomb.
I was a Girl Scout and the Trefoils (Shortbread) is my favorite GS Cookie! I like using them to make the crust for my lemon meringue pie! Girl Scout cookies are fairly ubiquitous here in the states. I wish shipping to NZ from here (Ohio) wasn't so expensive, they just released a new flavor... Caramel Brownie!

I love that you still try the ones you don't think you will like. Sometimes you like it and sometimes you don't, but at least you're willing to try. I think the purpose of selling the Girl Scout cookies is printed on the boxes. If you didn't read it before you got rid of the boxes, you might want to look it up online.

They said chocolate and cherry don’t go good together. First and probably last time I’ll ever hear that. It’s like a match made in heaven according to everyone I know lol
Yeah what?? Lol... And I think the "medicine" taste they kids were referring to might have been alcohol. I haven't had those specific cherry treats, but a lot of those chocolate covered cherry type candies almost always have some type of liqueur in with the cherry part.
Samoa's are my all time favorite Girl Scout cookie, I like putting mine in the Refrigerator, They're so much better cold, I also have mine with a Large Glass of Milk, Sooo Freakin Good..

I think because of your videos, I'll be enjoying my American snacks with a new level of appreciation. You're all amazing! Thank you.
Girl Scout cookies are a national treasure. They’re only available seasonally, so we buy them and freeze them. Out of season, people pay top dollar for GS cookies, up to $50 per box!
They were a treasure but as the years have gone by it has become a scandal. The local troops do not get as much financial support from the sales and they have lowered the cookie count to around 25 for $5.00. It was meant to teach kids to organize, accounting, sales and responsibility. Now it is forcing quotas and pressuring parents to sell for them. Many offer prizes for sales but they are only obtained if parents set it all up so kids get credit for set ups at malls or the office sales and the kid wasn’t even involved. It’s basically a racket. They are failing our youth for a hidden agenda of profit.

Girl Scout cookies are addictive! My favorites are Somoas and Thin Mints!
Many Americans look forward to Girl Scout "season" each year! It is a charitable fund raiser for the Girl Scouts. The cookies are great and we all have favorites.
I'm totally one of those Americans!
@@einnAnnie right! Lol. They don’t usually make it to the cupboard.
Yes we buy 12 boxes of the Caramel delight and freeze 21. We also buy 12 of thin mints and the lemon drops.
Or they could have a kid whose a Girl Scout because as a Girl Scout we normally have leftovers and a ton of them
I used to be able to buy them all year round here where I live, then Radio Shack went out of business.
@@profanepersonality it all depends on each, individual council :)
The cookie nazis get you everytime. I'll literally have cases in my garage after cookie season.
I am old enough to have sold door to door and sold before the Carmel delights. When I sold them they were only 50 cents a box.
I was wondering why they didn’t say Tagalong or Samoa!
The peanut butter patties are called Tagalongs in Georgia as well! Those are my favorite too!
haha, I just made the same comment 😄
I am still laughing at the little girl 2 years ago whose mother pasted ilprints of Jason Momoa on her Samoa boxes and called them Momoas...
Do-Si-Dos are my favorite
“My socks are gone, officially”

There are 200 million boxes of girl scout cookies sold each year. When we hear they're going to get ready to sell them, we go ahead and order then to make sure we get our favorites

Dr pepper was invented in Texas in a pharmacy back when there were old fashioned sodas where they would add the syrups to the carbonation by hand. The inventor put every syrup available in the shop, cherry being one of them. The 23 on the packaging is in reference to the syrups used.

The girl scouts changed the name to several cookies. Same cookie, different name.
There is a site that gives the regional names of Girl Scout Cookies.
They have the same names you listed here in Texas. ;-)

I'm from New Mexico, and we have a completely different type of food, some of which is not recognized in any other states (& New Mexican food is different than Mexican food, although we do share a lot flavors)

3 - 2 - ONE! That was so, so cute! I loved it! I’m so happy that the generous sender included Thin Mints in your goody package! They are probably the most popular Girl Scout cookie.
I suspect that the coordinators of most Girl Scout cookie sales would confirm with actual numbers that the Thin Mint is indeed the most popular.
I also like the Samoas (AKA, "Caramel Delights"?)...

So the potatoes are usually baked until the middle is cooked through, then you scoop out the filling of each half of the potatoes and combine all of your ingredients in a bowl, mix it together, then put it back into the potato. Now you can stop there or you can put the potatoes back into the oven to cook more!

Example, ABC call them caramel delights, wild little brownie bakers call them samoas
And, oh yeah thin mints out of the freezer or refrigerator they are the bomb.
Watching your family is absolutely delightful.

@@Laura-vj8uu that cause is a candy only found mostly in the mid west like here in Missouri where it is made
My daughter was in the girl scouts. I still support them every year as they sell their cookies in front of the markets and banks. My favourite is still the mint and the peanut butter.
Aww love how the doggie has treats to eat too 😍
I really like you guys. You’re such a nice family. I’d love to send you something uniquely American, but it seems like you’ve already gotten most everything.
I love that you still try the ones you don't think you will like. Sometimes you like it and sometimes you don't, but at least you're willing to try. I think the purpose of selling the Girl Scout cookies is printed on the boxes. If you didn't read it before you got rid of the boxes, you might want to look it up online.
The dog is excited about the beef jerky too! 😂😂
It's nice to hear a package from a familiar town. I live less than an hour from Cameron and lived a few of my grade school years there.
Glad you did a video on Girl Scout cookies! They sell HUNDREDS of boxes in front of Walmart every Saturday in the late winter months--and they're so hard to resist! The lemonade is new this year, but I'm crazy about the Thin Mints and the peanut butter patties! And btw, I've realized what I love MOST about you guys... you let your kids eat ANYTHING and don't worry about the health side of it! So proud of you for letting your kids BE kids!!
Agreed!!
I agree lol
Samoa's are my all time favorite Girl Scout cookie, I like putting mine in the Refrigerator, They're so much better cold, I also have mine with a Large Glass of Milk, Sooo Freakin Good..
Family goals for sure, man you all are just so pleasant!
You're such a beautiful family. You give me such a warm feeling. Christmas was made for you. Diane, I could watch you react to confections all day. 😆 The way you experience each bite makes me feel like a child again.
Out of season, when buying them will not benefit GS's, go to Aldi and try their imitations. Some of the flavors are very good.
I've never paid $50 per box for GS cookies. Now I have bought over $50 worth. Can't wait for the middle of January when our troop start selling them
They were a treasure but as the years have gone by it has become a scandal.
