Tyler got denied by so many people for a feature. I feel like they all regret it but the project came out better with fewer voices on it. Love Flower Boy!
@@joshbaino3087 Honestly, as an artist, if another artist just doesn't like your idea, the main thing to take away is that isn't the artist you want on your shit. They're basically just letting you know they don't think they can do whatever ideas you have justice. It usually isn't personal. I mean Tyler being Tyler he can be seen as an outsider. But you could also say he's massively successful in his own lane. It's entirely possible it was just too far out of their element, at which point declining is more out of respect than not wanting to fw you. You can still be cool and all, it's just understood that they can't really help you with that project. Happens all of the time. Probably 2 of those for every 1 good collab that makes it out.
yo this guy asks the dopest shit. He was really focused on the creation of his music with his questions, but he did it in a way that he got real answers from the artist. I feel like even some of the top interviewers and radio hosts who tend to do it.. cannot achieve this.
Yea I wish more interviewers would actually be interested in the music of the artists they’re interview. Or at least try to if u didn’t get an artist u like.
Jerrod Carmichael is one of the best, up and coming comics. Check out his HBO stand-up special called "8", he's really funny. The interview is amazing because you can tell there is mutual respect between the two of them...
i remember an old interview of tyler i saw when i was first getting into it and he was being so mean to the interviewer for asking simple questions that anyone can find on wikipedia and at the time i didnt understand what the big deal was. Seeing this interview brings new expectations for interviewers in my mind. Its so tight
The cinematography is fucking great. It makes you feel like an outsider looking at them, noticing every single new detail of these people, but you know these people so its so familiar but also a feel of admiration, idk I just love it.
Also the backdrop makes it feel like they have an eternity to talk about anything in the coziness middle of nowhere. The split camera work limits what you see icing emphasis to what they're speaking but also let's you see and feel their reactions, fuck I love it.
This is the dopest interview I’ve seen as far as the filter, backdrop, chairs, and the camera work. It’s art. Tyler’s a genius producer and definitely had the dopest album of 2017. Much love to everyone.
TotallyNotAMoose Tyler is 100% an artist in every aspect of the word, every detail is thought about, and it’s one of the most beautiful things in this world.
So many famous artists refused to help Tyler with this album and it still ended up being some of his best work. Aint that some heavy shit. If you have the vision (and the skills), don't be afraid to DIY.
Just the fact that Jerrod is so fucking into it and is so fucking present in this interview makes it all worth while like the fact that yeah their talking about flower boy but when they go off on a tangent about chords it still holds the same amount of substance is just so heart warming
I will forever respect Tyler because he actually speaks out about how black people always pressure each other to stay in this judgmental mindset of what's cool and what's not He encourages black people to be them and love who they are no matter if they're outcasts He is the living example I always felt insecure to do shit like listen to rock music or wear Converses instead of Jordans Just to see an example like him lets me know that the things I do is not abnormal it's me being me forever love and respect Tyler thank you
roszina jones I think that's great, coming from a pasty white dude. Be whoever the fuck you want. Don't feel pressured to be anything. We're all humans. I'm so glad that Tyler is smashing cultural forces.
I feel you on this. I always got called oreo or white washed cause i was that one black kid listening to punk rock and reading instead of rap or wearing button up shirts and converse instead of b-ball jerseys and Jordan's. I could go on and on but my point still stands. I was original and it's so comforting hearing and watching a famous artist say it and live it and how other people in general just relate to it. Who's weird now tho? Lmao
omg I relate so much I'm 13 and black I have mostly white friends because other black people in my school think I act like them because I dress in all black and listen to alternative pop punk or indie bands instead of mainstream auto tuned rap bullshit like everyone else.
I feel inspired hearing Tyler talk about how even though many rappers denied to help him on the album and how other artists still don't appreciate what he has made to reach out to him, yet he still radiates happiness and creativity. Really shows me that you don't need anyone else other than yourself to create art and someone out there will appreciate it.
Tyler truly is a creator. Everything on this record has a purpose. There is a story behind every loop and sample. Tracks and verses are where they are at for a specific reason. I've said this before but Tyler is one of the only rappers in the game who is a visionary artist. The record as a whole sounds like the album art, being a portrait of Tyler himself. After dissecting this album, you feel like you know Tyler in person, and I never get that from any other Hip-Hop album. Tyler goes down as a GOAT just for that reason in my opinion. He's incredible.
Man, it's always awesome just to hear someone talk about their craft with such energy and passion. It's equally as awesome to hear the interviewer be just intrigued by it because he understands from an empathetic point of view.
Every time we get insight on the music it just makes you listen and appreciate the vision more. Tyler is an amazing artist. I hope he continues to inspire us all.
This is legit the best interview I have seen, usually can't stand them but this feels like a conversation between two friends. Very organic and you can tell both are genuinely enjoying it.
I love the chemistry between Jerrod and Tyler. It’s a real genuine vibe and friendship between the two. The title, “A conversation” is correct. This feels like a conversation these two would have without the cameras present. I love when artists can be themselves when speaking on their art. It’s like they become a kid again for that moment. This is a great video, and I can’t wait to see Tyler live next Tuesday 🌻 P.S. Mild High Club is fucking dope. Tesselation has been on repeat since it dropped
Guest1243 Yeah him and Jerrod are actually friends so it just has that vibe of two friends chilling together and there just happens to be somebody filming them😂
Flower boy came in to my life at a really dark time. The warmth that it brought helped me out of that place. I love that he’s influenced by so many beautiful bands and people, like portishead, hell yeeeeee.
I think it's kinda sad how Tyler wanted all of these artists to be on this album and no one really wanted to be on with him, however, I think it's a blessing for him because it gave him a way of expressing his feelings himself. The album might have collapsed if he had all of those artists instead of him actually conveying those emotions. Still loving it
the only two i wouldve really enjoyed are q and carti. carti's input wouldve been a minimal yet cool addition and q couldve really rapped over who dat boy.
he makes music. Humira nets as much money as Tyler, and EVERY other music creator a year. Let's be honest, legend? no one will remember him in 150 years tbh. People who make software that ushers us into the future have a better shot @ being legend
Paul Ahrenholtz word. People use that word loosely smh. He has a legendary mindset but his work does not mirror that. He is a great creative. Not a living legend
honestly, I love Bruno Mars' album, but it's not as good as it's competitors, if he would've just one best R&B album, I would've been happen. Tyler had the best album, musically at least. Jay and Kendrick had better lyrical albums, but no one can replace Tyler's creativity in Flower Boy
I love how organic this conversation was, I regularly listen to this because everytime I find it more interesting. This just validates how talented and knowledgable Tyler is. How he talks about his inspirations and his stories makes the album more enjoyable to listen to. Love this so much!
I am complete. It’s aesthetically pleasing and so insightful. This is going to change the way interviews are done. I personally have not seen anything like this before. The backdrop is also bomb.

😂😂Had to come back here after the reality show to confirm that Jerrod really did like he was flirting a bit lol, the way he looks at Tyler and the constant smile
Tyler the Creator will never get enough respect. This album is my favorite of his because no one is doing what he’s doing with the unique incorporation of all these sounds into rap. Using rap as the cherry on top of incredible compositions. Tyler the Creator is a true artist and people need to stop taking this man for granted, because there might never be another person as beautifully unique and creative in his process. Thank you for being you, Tyler. 🙏🏽

the interviewer meshed with T so perfectly, this video is very artfully done. props to y’all
He’s one of the funniest young comedians ya doof
You could release an album of all the different versions of 911/Mr.Lonely and ninety percent of the people who watched this entire video would buy it
Untalented says who?
I would definitely buy it
PLEASE TYLER
DO IT NOW TYLER
I would most def
Tyler's happy face just makes me wanna play all his songs back to back
An awkward, "weirdo", openly *not straight, black comedian interviewing an awkward, "weirdo", openly *not straight, black rapper about an album that is so raw and honest... I love how more and more my people aren't afraid to just be themselves whatever that looks like 🥰 I love this interview so much!
Edit: changed it from bi to *not straight. Super happy for Jerrod and can't wait to watch Rothaniel, it looks great!
Y is he awkward
@@astarothamon2113 Haha, Tyler intentionally drops the pin. I swear he lives for that moment when people gotta look up. And then he doesn't even acknowledge it so it's like like "Yeah, this is me. We ain't gotta talk about it. Your turn." with no fucks given. He's confidently awkward, the most endearing kind. Like, I just imagine talking to him, you become subservient to that flow. Conversations with Tyler can only be... conversations with Tyler. Because Tyler says weird shit and he knows it's weird. And he knows you know too. But he doesn't care.
@@coreejacobs4780 I mean he’s made music about being attracted to men and music about being attracted to women. I guess he could be pan if that’s what you’re getting at (which I doubt) but it seems pretty clear.
@@coreejacobs4780 he said “I could fuck a trillion bitches every country I done been in
Men or women, it don't matter, if I seen 'em, then I had 'em” in his new album on the track wilshire
@@coreejacobs4780 If you mean he's never used the word bisexual then you're correct but then neither has Frank Ocean to my knowledge. If you're implying that he's straight... He's talked (seriously) about being attracted to guys and girls for 3 albums in a row, Westside Gunn said he loves that Tyler can just be himself when he mentioned f'ing a guy on his song "327", Adin Rose joked that Tyler was ok with people acting gay around him to which Lil Yatchy replied "that's because he's ACTUALLY gay" which suprised Adin, Tyler mentioned wanting to come to London during the pandemic to hook up with a guy during his Slowthai interview and he's mentioned multiple times that what people love about Flower Boys is that he doesn't really joke on it...

Tyler got denied by so many people for a feature. I feel like they all regret it but the project came out better with fewer voices on it. Love Flower Boy!

@@ZoMnz11 he said Schoolboy Q and justin bieber and other people. I feel bad for him but the album was better off for it
@@joshbaino3087 and nicki minaj and kanye
@@lzydaizies why?
I can see the love in Jerrod’s eyes here this is the same way I look at the love of my life that doesn’t want me lmao
The only thing I found hard watching this video was fighting the urge to close the vid and listen to the entire album again.
JeremyKage YES
An hour. Holy shit. This is everything I ever wanted. Tyler is so passionate about music and him talking about it is so fucking cool.

damn, being called a "real music lover" by tyler makes me feel really intelligent.
Same 🙈

Cherry bomb fucking dope‼️
yo this guy asks the dopest shit. He was really focused on the creation of his music with his questions, but he did it in a way that he got real answers from the artist. I feel like even some of the top interviewers and radio hosts who tend to do it.. cannot achieve this.
also those interviewers and radio hosts aren't musicians themselves, so they can't ask those kind of questions as easily
Agree!!
This is the dopest interview I’ve seen as far as the filter, backdrop, chairs, and the camera work. It’s art. Tyler’s a genius producer and definitely had the dopest album of 2017. Much love to everyone.
TotallyNotAMoose Tyler is 100% an artist in every aspect of the word, every detail is thought about, and it’s one of the most beautiful things in this world.
tyler is actually a genius. listen to the way he talks about music and remembers it down to the number of the song on the album.
So many famous artists refused to help Tyler with this album and it still ended up being some of his best work. Aint that some heavy shit. If you have the vision (and the skills), don't be afraid to DIY.
im still mad kanye and nicki weren't on there. that would've been so fucking good

Just the fact that Jerrod is so fucking into it and is so fucking present in this interview makes it all worth while like the fact that yeah their talking about flower boy but when they go off on a tangent about chords it still holds the same amount of substance is just so heart warming
This video takes me back to November...
Michael Kelley every time i read this “take me back to november” is always in tylers voice😂

I will forever respect Tyler because he actually speaks out about how black people always pressure each other to stay in this judgmental mindset of what's cool and what's not
He encourages black people to be them and love who they are no matter if they're outcasts
He is the living example
I always felt insecure to do shit like listen to rock music or wear Converses instead of Jordans
Just to see an example like him lets me know that the things I do is not abnormal it's me being me
forever love and respect Tyler thank you
roszina jones
I think that's great, coming from a pasty white dude.
Lmao
roszina jones amen!!
roszina jones I totally agree
omg I relate so much I'm 13 and black I have mostly white friends because other black people in my school think I act like them because I dress in all black and listen to alternative pop punk or indie bands instead of mainstream auto tuned rap bullshit like everyone else.
This interview hit way different in 2024😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Super different 😂
It’s wild, because it’s clear he’s flirting bc now 👀
he wants him sooo bad
Tyler has a preference and it’s vanilla. Dude had no chance.
This is the most satisfying interview I've ever watched. They both just look so genuine in their conversation and reactions and emotions
I thought he was just good at questions. Mans was in love the whole time damn
Man, it's always awesome just to hear someone talk about their craft with such energy and passion. It's equally as awesome to hear the interviewer be just intrigued by it because he understands from an empathetic point of view.

This is a great video, and I can’t wait to see Tyler live next Tuesday 🌻
P.S. Mild High Club is fucking dope. Tesselation has been on repeat since it dropped
BasedPhenom you explain it so well 🙂

I thought I was the only person that felt empowered by that "Tell these black kids they can be who they are line". It helped me so much.
Ryan Ricketts happy for you💯
Tyler's living proof that true artistry and soul still lives on in the music scene.
He deserved that Grammy forsure, I’m so sad he didn’t win.
Kendrick deserved it
Migg debatable
Agree, but if he had to lose to someone, kendrick was the best choice
Migg DAMN wasn't as good as Kendrick's previous albums
Filthy Frank If humble wasn't on the album he wouldn't have won.
Really good interviewer. Gets the best out of Tyler by asking questions but doesn't overstep the mark.
I.e doesn’t ask about him being gay
Also the fact that he actually is a fan of Tyler's probably inspired good and relevant questions
I like that the interviewer has this “fan” vibe about him. Makes the interview more enjoyable and relatable. Good shit for sure.
Guest1243 Yeah him and Jerrod are actually friends so it just has that vibe of two friends chilling together and there just happens to be somebody filming them😂
The best interviewer is one who likes the person in front of him cause only in this situation he can reveal person's mind.
Guest1243 well because the interviewer is just one of his famous friends talking to him about music lol.
SuperNerdGavin i don’t get what you say
Guest1243 the interviewer is a famous comedian who loves rap music and is close friends with Tyler
Knowing that Jerrod has been in love with Tyler all this time makes me see this very diff

it's pretty easy to fall in love with Tyler just basing off of this, can't blame Jerrod
Seriously. It’s clear as day
Flower boy came in to my life at a really dark time. The warmth that it brought helped me out of that place.
I love that he’s influenced by so many beautiful bands and people, like portishead, hell yeeeeee.
Me with Goblin and WOLF
I think it's kinda sad how Tyler wanted all of these artists to be on this album and no one really wanted to be on with him, however, I think it's a blessing for him because it gave him a way of expressing his feelings himself. The album might have collapsed if he had all of those artists instead of him actually conveying those emotions. Still loving it
the only two i wouldve really enjoyed are q and carti. carti's input wouldve been a minimal yet cool addition and q couldve really rapped over who dat boy.
as it stands, the album allowed rex, estelle, steve lacy, etc all to gain greater exposure they actually deserve.

he makes music. Humira nets as much money as Tyler, and EVERY other music creator a year. Let's be honest, legend? no one will remember him in 150 years tbh. People who make software that ushers us into the future have a better shot @ being legend
So is the saturation trilogy
Paul Ahrenholtz word. People use that word loosely smh. He has a legendary mindset but his work does not mirror that. He is a great creative. Not a living legend

Flower Boy was a great album but DAMN. had outclassed every other album at that time
Roam I disagree mac miller dropped a great album as well. Either way I think all 3 should be looked at as classics.
honestly, I love Bruno Mars' album, but it's not as good as it's competitors, if he would've just one best R&B album, I would've been happen. Tyler had the best album, musically at least. Jay and Kendrick had better lyrical albums, but no one can replace Tyler's creativity in Flower Boy

Tyler the Creator will never get enough respect. This album is my favorite of his because no one is doing what he’s doing with the unique incorporation of all these sounds into rap. Using rap as the cherry on top of incredible compositions.
