Hi. As you know, I love these dramas but I was thinking about a drama that I heard many years ago. It’s a dramatisation of the Rose and the Ring by William Makepeace Thackery. I thought it might be good for your second channel when you start it. I’ve only heard the dramatisation of the rose and the ring ones, so I don’t really remember it, but I think it stars Prunella Scales.
@@mysteriousmagpie I wonder if it’s available on CD. I must take a look. Another good drama is the Snow Queen, starring Dirk, Bogart and Diana Rigg. It’s usually repeated at Christmas time on BBC Radio 4 extra. I recently bought the radio 4 dramatisation of Stardust by Neil Gaiman.
She didn’t really seem to be getting the core points of the Jamesian story very well. All these stories seem to be character dramas with very vague supernatural aspects which are somehow both abruptly appended AND obvious from the beginning without buildup or atmosphere. Will probably still listen to all of them
I do enjoy the dramas by Sheila Hodgson. I find them all entertaining and atmospheric. Wonderful escapism in these difficult times.
She also adapted Algernon Blackwood's John Silence stories for BBC radio around the same time - I've got those on the channel too...
Another fun MR James from Sheila Hodgson
Excellent t

That sounds like the one from 1997ish... I used to have that on cassette, but I don't know if I ever digitised it...

Shelia Hodgson should try her talents in another direction. As that was awful
