Weihrauch HW97k Cleaning & Lubrication

  • I'm showing you the method I use to clean and lubricate my HW97k. I only recorded the cleaning of the receiver and piston tube as all the other stuff is pretty much self explanatory how to clean.
    Weihrauch uses either too much or too little grease on their guns. Also, it is always good to examine the rifle for metal shavings inside because this will damage the internals and seals.
    Every new HW I buy, I usually do a take down (to examine for any litter that doesn't belong inside) - and complete lubrication job.
    This way I get a decent greased airgun with peace of mind that it is indeed free of metal shavings and or splinters. I already found metal remains inside of HW guns in a new HW95 and again in this gun. Usually metal splinters can be found around the end piece where the trigger mechansim is located and if you are unlucky, in the grease of the compression chamber.

    That main seal needs fitting way to,tight this will,take months to break in you can even hear them,themgreasenon the trigger housing why ?

      Stock HW seals have a good fit, greasing the trigger housing will prevent rust.

    Only difference l do is l put more moly grease on the spring as it quietens down the gun, 97s are a brill gun,

      Motul Chain Lube Factory Line is what I put on springs. It is way better than smearing Moly Grease all over the spring as it will just fling off. The Chain lube is like glue and will adhere way better and dampens the spring noise. That's also the stuff they put on the overpriced V-Mach springs.

    Just bought brand new HW-95, stripped it down degreased the cylinder and piston, then greased up a new ox spring, guide and cocking shoe, with moly grease l had from car shop, it's used in CV joints, just the same as you'd buy from a gun shop, little tub from gun shop costs same as big tub from car shop, gun is now spot on.

    Great video. Very informative. Just received my hw97k(early Christmas present) and I absolutely love it. I really wanted to see how it shot out of the box and review the overall quality before disassembling. I'm not disappointed. After I get a few tins of pellets through it I'll clean the spring and see impact on performance. This won't take long. Regarding the grease...you have two different types. Is this just to demonstrate that one or the other can be used, or do you use both during the process? I have the FAC version, is it difficult to re-install the spring?

    • @joekelly9369
      @joekelly9369 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont know what sludge this guys using on the piston seal but you need abbey silicone oil .. a shim(sleeve) for your 97k piston , the spring a titan xs is gonna be a two man wrestle .theyre a bitch but , after wrestling for 20 + years with weihrauch 77s 97s i shortened the pistons .more power without a tough spring . ( the extra air volume doubles under pressure ) sooo much easier to cock although the cocking lever comes all the way down near the trigger guard now .

    Thank you for the material, because everyone is important. But it would be nice if you showed how to unfold and assemble an air rifle because some people do it for the first time outside of the service factors themselves. On the principle of service literally from the beginning to the end.

    Get a high density 30mm rubber washer under that metal washer on the spring guide , theres no point putting a top hat on the spring otherwise !

    Beginner here...do you use anything on the paper towels or are they just dry? Also, I see you use the power grease but not the mona lisa grease. What do you use the mona lisa grease on? Or is that used on the paper towels maybe? Thanks!

    • @2lbsTrigrPull
      @2lbsTrigrPull  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,
      when cleaning and getting the old grease off, the paper towels are dry with nothing on it. Then, after everything is cleaned up in the cylinder, you can use a little grease on a towel to "prelube" the cylinder but that's not really necessary. You can do this in thousand different ways. I just showed my method I used a few years back. I don't use different lubes anymore. I used the Power lube around the seal and the MoS2 grease on the piston and cylinder. Now I would only use MoS2 grease on anything, put a little on the piston and shove it in, then assemble. A lot of people are a bit "over the top" with their methods. Those guns are not rockets with complex electrical systems. A little lube will go a long way.

    • @joekelly9369

      Use moly grease from a car shop , abbey silicone oil fron web , get a top hat for spring a nylon spring guide for bottom of spring , (if you have a 97k get a piston sleeve ) a titan xs spring , if needed and last but not least a 2mm high density rubber washer for the trigger block , ( this is the last thing in the tube just behind the spring guide )

  • @joekelly9369
    @joekelly9369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do people still use that sludge moly slug grease , there are far superior lubes that actually speed up your springers internals , and prolong the internals integrity , stick like nasty to a nappy stop internal burring rubbing of metal parts , no dieselling the stuffs slicker than slick , speeds up your lock times giving more power for less spring tension , and its clear !
