Wow. Modern artists skip a concert for having a slight headache yet Art sings one of the most challenging songs ever written with a throat infection. A true professional. Beautiful.
@bj0urne It was awful and if I paid $ to see them at this show I would have been livid. Any artist or group that doesn't reschedule a show or tour when they are unable to perform clearly doesn't respect their audience. From everything I learned about this time period it seemed that Garfunkel was well aware of his vocal problems. Why reschedule when you could fleece the audience for a quick crash grab and go home. It's one thing for a performer/musician to have a rough night or their vocal cords to get fried part way through a concert but what we see here is blatant disrespect to the audience. Can't believe the original commenter from 11 years ago is actually praising this 😂. If I was Paul I would have been upset too.
Aw this is so cute, Paul is such a Sweetheart cheering for Artie like that.. Bless Art, I'm glad his voice has recovered enough for him to now be touring this year!
That was awsome Art must have done his best to make it more exciting and Paul was there cheering for him Art & Paul are still the best God Bless Simon & Garfunkel!!
Thanks for posting this! We drove down from Memphis, dodging tornadoes near Yazoo, just for that show. What the video misses is how frustrated and embarrassed Garfunkel was at the beginning of the song, and how Simon and the band modulated the key down to allow Garfunkel to sing on! The crowd was enraptured! It was the most beautiful piece of musical showmanship I have ever witnessed. I have repeated the story to friends on numerous occasions. It has become part of my concert mythology, so it is good to see evidence that they truly made it happen. I am a little dewy-eyed just thinking about it now, and oh so glad you posted this!
Oh my god. I'm shocked. What happened to Artie's voice? I know it's gone 5 years ago but after listening to this, I got goose bumps. Amazing. Fell in love with Paul and Artie 2 years ago and Bridge over troubled water once was my favorite song, but I didn't know Cecilia then... love them.
So happy I traveled across the country for this show!!

really touching moment esp with the crowd singing along
It didn't really sound good tho... Paul was furious after the concert for not telling him his voice was shit

Wow, what a trouper. His voice was shot due to illness, yet he made it through the gig.

This performance of this song and that final note is burned in my memory. I’m so glad someone recorded it.
Last ever simon and garfunkel concert

I thought he was going to bomb from the news that his voice was shot but HE DID IT! WOW! That high note at the end was powerful!!
airy falsetto, anything but powerful
I feel bad for Artie yet at the same time it's beautiful.
...and that was that.
@walshfan2470 Yes he's had vocal paresis since then and will be going back on stage
sometime soon, he already has , but not for a full concert.
I felt so sorry for Art, but he has gotten much better now, according to his own home page on the Internet's
They really are buddies after all these years. That was sad though...
Lol are you kidding? They absolutely hate eachother
@@Maxibo234 Seems like a love/hate deal
Enjoy much Artie
Ooh! Happy for Artie I like Paul how compassionate feeling
Happy feeling like brother in blood.
No more partnerships for these two after this concert. Simon thinks he was hoodwinked.
@walshfan2470 Yes hi have Laryngit it's a viris. But hi is better now and next summer hi will perform again.
Garfunkel voice shot by illness
God that was awful from Art, no wonder they left it there
That is BAD! 🤷🏼♂️
