That... explains all of the times I've gotten the "#1 superjump destination" label. Thank you. Pity there's no way to flag oneself in the map as "actively stalking a target, please don't jump here."
@@k.jespersen6145 I get it all the time. It's also easy to get Overall Splatter due to survivability. For example, me being a charger, I can actively defend and hear my teammates jumping to be by being a safe yet effective point. When in doubt, be a spawn point lol

Me opening the map: Ah, yes. This is a nice inkblot test. That part looks like a chair! This guy: I see my enemy ate a small tuna sandwich for breakfast this morning. I will time my attacks to their bowel movements.
This map vid is great. Im ALREADY using it in my games and im so much more aware. I never considered using the map mid fight and its changed my game even in the first few matches. Keep up the good guides!
i’ve been doing the first two levels for a while, but using the map during fights is definitely something i need to work on. thanks for the guide! very well made as always
Good stuff, the map is super important for awareness and I'm always disappointed to hear if people I play with don't use it much. This is the perfect video to spread around!
This is embarrassing for me to admit, but for the entire time I played Splatoon 2, I didn't know how to super jump to beacons. You have to use the right stick.
Thanks you for the vid! Could you please make a video on when to use a squid roll? I was high-powerx rank player but i still cant get used to the squid-roll. Thank you!
Taking all this into consideration is going to be so helpful, especially as a Carbon Roller main. It's going to make knowing where essential picks are so much more efficient, but it also helps with knowing that my flank can be anticipated even if I'm out of a line of sight.
Me as a between core player but casual player, I tend to open the map at the start of a match most of the times; although for me its useful only a few times because I haven't learned to read it fast yet. For beginers it is a good habit to start just opening the map while moving at the start of a match, because you can see where the opponents are heading. At least thats something.
I miss the wii u gamepad, being able to see the map on your controller instead of having it cover the screen was so convenient, and super jumping didn't need a motion controlled cursor
@@julianrobertson1869 Sorry, I worded that a bit poorly, I had just woken up. But yeah, you got what I meant, the d-pad can't be used for quickly jumping to squid beakons or big bubblers
Great Vid WADSM !! I have a suggestion for a guide. Could you explain how to know where bombs are going to hit, for example on tower how do I know whats the safe place or if the bomb is above or behind wall, I still struggle with this and think new players could benefit from it too.
Great guide but I feel it should also include the ultimate Master Class of map usage: Using it to keep track of where that stupid Inkbrush is in Clam Blitz so you can splat them before something stupid happens.
I occasionally use maps during fights but I only remember to if the enemy is retreating since I know they will probably be marked on my map if they feel the need to retreat(unless they retreat because of man disadvantage), so I can catch their escape
Hey Wadsm, I'm an explosher main and I was wondering if you could tell me which modes it's best for and why? (Other than splat zones.) I love using the weapon but I know it's low tier and I don't really have enough game sense knowledge to tell if something like tc or rainmaker would be good or not for it.
Hi, not Wadsm replying here; the Explosher is NOT low tier. I don't main it, but it is useful and VERY powerful on all maps with walls and slopes, as it can paint over high surfaces/terrain from a distance. IMO, this would make it useful for some clam maps and Tower Control DEFINITELY. There's a high level X Rank player called Brian? I think, check some of his videos, as I'm sure Explosher is/used to be, one of his mains. I hope this helps. Anyone is free to correct what I've said, if it's wrong. One thing I've realised, IMO, is that there isn't a low tier weapon; it depends on the player, and your own play style. I've seen top level play with most of the weapons, including those that some people say are low tier.
It kind of struggles in all other modes a bit. You can pull it off in all modes but it just gets harder. I'd say with the changes in specials and modes CB is probably the best for it since it's the slowest one of the remeaining three.
Honestly the new replay mode is such a gamechanger for reviewing matches cause the worst part about watching top level vods is how often players open the map and it gets SUPER annoying in a hurry lol
if you're watching a top player vod to see how they play. and they play by getting information from the map. is that not an important part of the video to see to understand their gameplay
sponges. the color of the corner indicated what color ink is being shot at it. shooting it with the right color makes it larger, and shooting it with the opposite color makes it smaller. you can swim on a sponge, and many sponges on multiplayer maps are put in locations where filling them up either half-way or to full size gives people who can swim in them new options to advance, retreat, or hide behind cover.
This is great wadsm but I’ve been running into a problem: When I open the map and look at it, I need to close it afterwards. I don’t know the button I need to press to close the map. I’m blind all game cause I just don’t know how to close it what do I dooo wasmd how do I put the map away
Why doesn't Nintendo add a mini-map option that would be up in the corner at all times? The map filling the screen feels like a design gimmick artifact from the WiiU gamepad, where you had to take your eyes off the screen and look down. Some players held up the gamepad so they could quickly glance at it.
For backliners, I feel the map is essential. Especially since you're the active Spawn point for your team.

You don't need to use the curser to pick where to jump. Each teammate is assigned to a d-pad button that can be used to select them.
