    I saw it live. I was in tears at the end of the song. Probably the most powerful moment I’ve ever experienced at a concert.

      I can't imagine how intense this must have been to see live!

    Madonna has done so much for AIDS, Malawi, the LGBTQ+ community and she has always found away to add these messages into her art while on stage. She's the best at it

      What makes her artistry stand the test of time is her courage to use that platform to message her advocacy for various worthy causes. She’s taken a lot of heat for this, but she persists and I admire her for it. Really appreciate you reacting to Madonna’s artistry.

    Besides Blond Ambition, this is the best Madonna concert - most are well-thought out, provocative and next level, but this is beyond next level. It’s a master class, as was Blond Ambition.

    Madonna is a performance artist. Started training as a dancer at 10, became a professional at 19 , at 25 she was elevating music videos to art and at 32 recreated the rock concert into the pop spectacle. Every performance has a ton of messages.

    Full body chills when I saw this live as well. It was a much more profound moment than I ever expected. I think growing up in an evangelical Christian home caused me to really question the feelings that were coming through at the time instead of just seeing and feeling it the way I finally was able to after the second show. One of the greatest pop songs ever in my opinion, in both lyric and music, with those minor chords leaving a sense of haunting and turmoil...for me at least.

    Not everybody knows : The sample at the intro is a tribute to Giorgio Moroder, one of the father of Disco Music, taken from the song "Tears" ( 1972 ). Confessions Era is wonderful tribute to Disco Music.

      I knew I had heard that before - at the tour I couldn’t put my finger in it, but of course it is G. Moroder - Tears! Thank you.

    Her humanitarian work is and has always been there. From the beginning with her gender equality, diversity and militant support of the lgbqt community. Her unequalled support and tireless education and promotion on the sad and basically ignored Aids crises destroying the gay communities around the world when no one was doing a thing for these scared, suffering communities are monumental and brave. Many of her friends dying in front of her one by one without help or support or compassion by the government or anyone else really shook her to the core and put her in fighting mode to change things. For compassion, acceptance, empathy and education she put herself out there to make a difference and change things. When it was a joke and not fashionable at all she stood there proudly to give these ppl hope and purpose and dignity when they were abandoned and discriminated against and left to their own devices to face God's wrath and hate for their amoral lifestyles and choices. She changed and influenced so many forgotten discarded and scared ppls lives that to this day I don't think ppl truly realise what an impact she had and how many ppls lives she impacted and changed for the better. She was the first one to promote and educate the general public about the Aids crises by including an anti-Aids leaflet in every copy of the Like a Prayer album. She gave a crap and took all the shit from a judgemental, bigoted, uninformed public that wanted to burn her at the stake for her unapologetic fearless support of these abused minorities. What she did for her close friend and artist Keith Haring in his last few years to try and help him however she could as he was suffering and dying in front of her eyes is beautiful, touching and so brave it always breaks my heart. Sorry for the long rant. I just think credit should be given where it is due. J

    The cross is based on the Salvador Dali painting 'Corpus hypercubis'..one of many instances where Madonna has used fine art as inspiration to carry her message

    "Live To Tell" is the first major song Madonna had written that showed critics (and may be herself) such a great and consummate songwriter she really is. I read it years ago when Patrick Leonard wrote the melody of this song for the movie and it was rejected by the company he asked "what if I got Madonna to write the lyrics for the song" and he called Madonna and requested it, Madonna sat down and wrote the whole lyrics in an hour and sang it just for one time for the recording and the result was there amazing her 3rd number one single in The US Billboard Hot 100 and a global smash hit, gave Madonna the respect in music bussiness (may be for the very first time).

    • @deantailor357
      @deantailor357 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, Leonard was hired to score "Fire with Fire" but he got fired from that gig. But because he'd pretty much already written the score, he played it for Madonna (who'd come over to write lyrics for a song for FWF) and she wrote Live to Tell, recorded the guide vocal, and later that day they went to James Foley's house, who was directing Madonna's then husband Sean Penn in "At Close Range". So that's how LTT got into that film, because Leonard was hired to score Foley's film instead. Originally, Madonna wasn't planning on singing LTT as she thought it was too low for her but everyone else thought she should and her original guide vocal (recorded at Leonard's house) is what you hear on the record.

      @ehuffnsd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Madonna wrote the melody and lyrics the instrumental was all Pat wrote. And the song was originally going to be given to a male singer and the vocal that was used was her scratch guide vocal

    Королева эпатажа, неординарная, единственная в своём роде!!! Практически все песни - хиты! Конечно, Мадонна не может принадлежать одному мужчине, к счастью или сожалению, но это факт! И вместе с тем в шоу-бизнесе она уже оставила свой след, и сделала в свое время переворот в музыке!
