Flawless. You did this six or more years ago on your PT channel. It was awesome then and even more so now. This has to be one of the best rhythm electric guitar songs ever. Nicely done. I strive to play this one. Maybe someday...
Damn if this song doesn't bring back some good ole Flat as a Pankcake 70s memories. This is one of those songs that radio stations played 2-3 times a day everyday for close to 10 years.
I saw Head East in 1982, while i was stationed in North Carolina, they played at a very small venue bar, and it was awesome. good memories, Thanks for this one.
oh my god i loved this song. I can remember staring at the album cover every time I went into the record store trying to decide if one song was worth paying for an album. It wasn't, I guess, cos i never bought it
I played this in Everybody Wants Some (our classic rock cover band). I was just starting to learn bass and couldn't figure out the bass fills, so I winged it...🤣
Nice, thanks for sharing. Well remember your PSA well i go in surgery in the morning for my neck. Picking some this eve before i have to put it down for recovery. Ill be watching your videos.
For some reason I always connect these guys with Argent. Maybe its the organ, over all production qualities, the harmonies with the kick ass riffs. What ever, they would have made for one hell of a show together!
They're from Illinois where I'm from. REO Speedwagon was cut out of the same cloth. Bob Heil of Heil Sound was really the wizard behind that curtain because he had clout all across music land, and he had a soft spot for the local garage bands, loaning them truckloads of amps and getting them gigs. Bob Heil invented the Heil Squalk (?) Box, which was the speaker in a can with a funnel and a tube up into your mouth for the talking guitar effect.
I’m flabbergasted that their first LP (from whence this song comes) sold 500,000 and they got a gold record for it. “Never Been” is really catchy, but hardly strong enough to drive a half-mil in sales. Nice retrieval from the vault though James. Thanks!
Good song choice. I used to listen to them at the Red Lion Inn, they were a local band. REO Speedwagon also played there when they were Stiller local. 😎
great job more keyboards than I like awesome song tho. Any chance you could make a video talking about how you use your right hand and how it rests on the body for picking /strumming and do you feel more mechanical strumming or more comfortable winging it with your wrist? I see a lot of wrist.
Great song. I notice that sometimes you're using a root note on the E string when playing 2nd position power chords. Like, a D power chord with an A root note.
If you listen closely, he hits that low A note on the D chord the first time through on each one. Then he follows it with a regular slide up from C to D. It’s a little subtlety a lot of people miss...including the guy who’s been playing guitar in Head East for the last few years.
Great job,one of my alltime faves...Seen them a few different times in the 70's...

BTW They had one of the greatest singing drummers EVER!!

Hay JJ good tune & playing))
This song makes me wish I'd lived in the 70s.
If you had lived the 70s you would be in your 60s. Be careful what you wish for.
Trust me...you missed A LOT! ;)
Great sports car driving song!! Corvette C-5 turn it up and pull off the rear view mirror. “What is behind me.. it does not matter” (gumball rally)
Awesome

Interesting tee shirt.
Nice job
You don't see that one very often-or ever!
Fucking badass brother 🤘✌️🤘
Good song
A bar band staple. Played it many, many times. Try to keep your foot still.
He moves his foot in all his videos...
I think he means it's a toe taper for all.
Don't listen to these guys james, just keep tapping that foot brother.. if I couldn't tap my foot I'd be lost
I need a les Paul.
Everyone does.
OH YEA
I'll add my 2 cents , awesome shirt James! where the heck did u find that?
Where do you get your t shirts???
More cowbell!

@@jamesjames9275 This guy missed it too. HA!
Didn't know there still is a Head East. Always liked this song but couldn't tell you another song of theirs.
good catch Quentin James. Had to watch vid a second time to see it
A song to be played in a Camaro SS with large back tires while cruising on a Friday night....Stealin' by Uriah Heep can't be far behind.
Stealin', or maybe Easy Living, followed by Jungle Love by the Steve Miller Band!
How bout an identifier so we know when it's the Tokai?
I haven't used the Gibson since I got the Tokai. I'm probably not going to play the other one much.
What year is that guitar?
1958. Sorry, I mean 1980. :)
Hahaha, I was thinking possibly 70s . I was close.😁
