Hi PJ, if you pre drill holes in the pine wood in a slightly smaller zize then the screw you are using, and then put the screws in, it tends to help stop the wood from splitting. Thanks for the content as always
Cats CAN get splinters. My furbaby climbed on new decking that had not been sanded correctly and... one expensive vet bill later had a big owie removed from her hind leg. Top tier cat dad PJ!

So cute Fuji loving the bed! Now onto the pine splitting a lot of woods will split if you screw with no pilot hole, you need to drill a small hole first so it won't split the wood on the grain. But otherwise it ended up looking great.

I feel she will lose interest within a week but it looks so so good!! It definitely goes with the rest of the furniture so I'll keep my fingers crossed that she continues to enjoy it-

It's great to provide many different textures for them to rest on, in places where your cat is already hanging out. I have a cat sized matress, nothing special about it really, but since I've put it on the desk right behind my computer that is usually where my cat will be when I'm on the computer since he likes being where I am. He also has a big cardboard bed on my arts and crafts table(that I've made like a real bed, with pillows, a sheet, a blanket etc). My cat has never been a floor enjoyer(except maybe to cool himself down on a hot day), so putting beds for him there just makes sure he never sleeps on them.

That was so cute!! I loved the little bed leggies! I made my dog a table so she wouldn’t have to bend to eat and she loved it (she didn’t use it much because she wasn’t well by the time I made it but she appreciated it)!

I’ve been recently working on reupholstering parts of my cat tree, and it’s been so satisfying seeing my cat sleep in the hanging basket part I sewed.

Wood splits if you drill/nail in a sharp object, either dull the tip or first drill a hole then drill in the screw.
