Just watched this last night, nicely done. What got may attention was the opening sequence, W.A.F. = 3. I'm thinking the first, from the north, mile of Lockhart Basin. My wife would probably give it a 2.

Love your vibes and the WAF. My husband and l are planning to overland with the CJ, and I have standards I know will increase my/our comfort.

I desparately want to get into overlanding and will be buying a 2020 Tacoma in a few months soon after they're released. It's good to see a Canadian point of view on this subject. Subscribed!

Love this video. My wife and I started this last year. My wife came in last year and said we are going to start camping again. About a month later she came in and said we are gonna get a roof top tent. My response was “whats a roof top tent?” Since then we did Colorado and saw the aspens. Doing big bend at Christmas. Which of you other videos do you go around your camp and talk with each other like this? Love it.

I agree on the WAF. I made a compromise to get there: I bought a teardrop trailer and had it modified for off-road use. Of course, being a trailer it can't go all the way rock crawling, but it's worthy enough with 35's (also fitting my jeep, so I have 2 spares now) and it fit the criteria for my wife's comfort: a comfy bed, a propane furnace built in for the colder nights and for my delight a full kitchen with fridge in the back. Of course I carry the obligatory shower and toilet. We had real good results with a simple 12V hand shower (tiny pump, long hose, showerhead and a 12V plug). It allows to use a bucket of water from a lake or river, heat some of it on the stove and mix it to temp. A 5 gal bucket is easily 2 warm showers. The bucket doubles as toilet (we use the bucket toilet seat instead of the foldable one because I always bring 2 buckets anyways - the rest of the system is the same as yours)
There's one difference though: I do bring glass wine glasses - just because they're nicer than plastic (although a pain to transport...) and since I have a bit of extra space with the trailer I have zero gravity chairs for extra comforts.

Sounds like a great setup. Our goal to make memories. If Nicole had wanted a trailer Id be pulling one and just as happy and getting a better nights sleep. Thanks, for watching... Mark

The part about getting into camp before evening is right on!! It’s why I never feel tempted to put fancy lights on my rig... what am I supposed to use all those lights for? Setting up my camp in the middle of the night?!? Why is that enjoyable???

    • @markbouliane6289
      @markbouliane6289  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree with you 100%! I will say this though, things don't always work out so well on the trail. Not often, but I have been pushed into the night due to events on the trail, you just have to be prepared.
The first time I was caught on the trail at night I learned how dark it can be. I had got approval to leave work at noon but my boss kept me to 4:30 and meeting friends at the campsite. The last bit of trail was a very narrow rocky wash. I overshot my escape out of the wash by about 50' and had to back up, I couldn't see a thing! At the time I didn't have the rear lights, I do now!
Rear lights are a must, I learned that the hard way, the rest you can get by without... Mark

Excellent video! Came across it while surfing YT instead of shoveling out of the 12” of snow we got yesterday 🥶
We are totally new to Overlanding, but share a similar methodology outlined in your video
We have a capable 4x4 Ford Ranger, RTT, camping gear .....but no real experience so planning to start out by exploring some local wildlife management areas, state parks and National Forest and venture out from there.
Look forward to more videos and insight.

Thank you, Dan!! We appreciate the feedback. I can feel your pain with regards to the snow. In our corner of the world, we only have two seasons winter and road construction.
I think that you will find our upcoming video's very interesting and informative. We have a huge list of things we want to cover in detail. Right now we're just trying to roll out the basic foundation. ... Mark

Nicely done guys. Looks like a truly relaxing lifestyle with some amazing scenery and locations. One question for you; which is the most important item for you to pack, the can of bear spray, the container of poo powder, or the box(s) of Copper Moon??? Looking forward to following your upcoming vids. Congrats on launching your channel. Brent

+Brent Raycraft well Brent, we may NEVER encounter a bear, but one must AlWAYS poop and believe it or not I can go without the wine( even though the thought scares me), so poo powder wins this one...Nicole
