I usually like to demo with cotton yarn but had gotten a few requests to do a full chunky yarn tutorial. I like this feedback and will make more tutorials with yarn where it’s easier to see the stitches, so thank you! 🙏
I always just single crochet two little circles and sew them on. Youngsters can work a button off, even “safety eyes” really are a choking hazard. It’s a little extra work but it’s worth it, imo.
Adorable and I am using Bernat baby blanket yarn, with a 10 mm hook, and the first 4 rounds are not flat, why?? Also, I am trying with a 9 mm hook and it is worst! Why!!
You will need ~7 oz. (~200 g) which is about 1 skein of this brand of yarn. If you use a different hook size than I do though, this amount will vary. Hope that helps!
you should try! for me it was difficult to keep track of my stitches when i first started using fluffy yarn, but you there’s videos with tips you can watch. it can also be annoying to find the perfect hook size
I finished it but my star got a big butt somehow😂🥲
A juicy butt?! Maybe you stuffed it extra
@@curiouspapaya No, it was even before I stuffed it🥲 I think I miscounted the stitches haha
@@Snowsie575 oh! Hahaha I’m sure it’s still adorable! The sea stars at the aquarium with the cute butts are my fave ;)
@@curiouspapaya I did it for my boyfriend and he said its still cute!😂
do you think theres any way to make a striped version of this? like with 2 or 3 colors
This is sooooo adorable. Thank you for this amazing tutorial ❤
You are so welcome! Hope you enjoy it!
Yes! Finally 😭 I'm currently in the process of making one but ran out of yarn 😢
oh no!! hope you get some more soon :)
Since it's so fluffy is it possible for you to do it in a tie dye or changing coloring so it's easier to see the stitches

i dont understad. when i finished my first star center am i supposed to cut the yarn?
Yes, you make "two" star centers and will join them together so you do cut the yarn. :)
Im gonna make it! It looks SO CUTE! but i dont have button eyes.. :/
You can always cut eyes out of felt or go without a face! 🌞
@@curiouspapaya okay ty!

@@amandahugginkiss61 I love the look of crocheted eyes too!

Is it coning or is it turning wavy?
Wavy@@curiouspapayaBut I keep going and it is looking good so far. Thanks!
@@cCeret I'm glad to hear!
So cute
Thank you so much
Can u use a thinner yarn and a 4.5mm hook (this is all I have ) for this pattern or will it turn out differently x
You can use thinner yarn; your project will turn out smaller and the details like tieing the knot will be more visible if not done differently
You can certainly try! It might come out too rounded. Increments of 8 would be better for that size :)
How much yards does this take??

@@curiouspapaya thank you so much! Can’t wait to make it!⭐️🩷
What's the difference between inc and sc inc?
It's the repetition, first you do a sc and then a inc
The commas separate each abbreviation, so you would alternate a single crochet stitch and an increase stitch!
Cute
Thank you!!
Is this doable for a beginner? 😂

Absolutely. It would help to know the basic stitches tho!
