I’m sad to see one of the best series on youtube end. Bjarne cinematography is movie production worthy. Cody’s storytelling in these episodes is very heartfelt. I’ve watched every 50 episode at least 5 times. You two are amazing❤️
As a newish (last 3-4 years) backcountry skier I feel pretty confident that this series has saved lives. Modelling proper behavior is more powerful than we may give credit and you and Bjarne's consistent will to turn around and NOT ski the line when it's not appropriate (Mt Superior, Split, many others) is strong antidote to summit fever and the near ubiquitous attitude to "just send it". Thanks for the show of strength and humility.
Cody, Bjarne, it's been a privilege. Yeah the pics have been stunning, but what captured me was your sense of appreciation for and humility in the mountains. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
I think my favorite part of the whole series has been getting to know Bjarne Salen. The lines, the friends, the epicness, everything else about this project is almost beyond description. And yet, getting to know the guy behind the lens for so much of it, the guy who's been there with Cody the whole time, with his extra dry sense of humor, has been the most rewarding to me. It hasn't just been Cody's project to me, it's been Cody and Bjarne's project. Its only fitting the last shot of this episode is a hug between you two! Thanks so much for everything over the past five years, fellas. It's been an amazing show!!
My most anticipated video so far, looks like it might be the last episode? Pretty sure he flew out to Mt Saint-Elias last season but maybe wasn't worth putting an ep together for it... Going to miss the series, it brings joy, one of the best on YT. My ideal scenario is Cody and Bjarne make their own fifty best lines they want to ski in North America and go get them. As someone that has never been there, I love seeing the scenery, travelling and cool mountains over there. The first two seasons were great as there was an episode every week or so. It would be cool if they went back to doing more lines per season, Cody is great at telling a story so I wouldn't care if the lines are super easy and not spectacular.
First off, thank you for the kind words. So appreciated. While I would love to be producing weekly episodes like we did in year one, I can tell you there is no way I could handle that workload again. It was the single most stressful, difficult and exhausting year of my life. Bjarne and I lived on the road for 5 months straight, were simultaneously publishing, editing and making episodes on top of each other. I almost burned myself out entirely after one year of it...plus now, I have a son added into life. So the focus moving forward will still be adventuring, skiing and making films, but just focused more on quality as opposed to quantity. Thank you.

@@houstonbuffalo4514 I don't think that's it, I think it's more that the last 4 lines are all so serious and so weather dependent that they didn't want the requirement of making episodes to lead them into a sense that they had to keep trying every year. I've loved every minute of this series. You and Bjarne could film The Fifty Classic Bunny Slopes of North America and I'd watch it. The fun of the series isn't in the finishing of the Classic Lines project, its in the storytelling of the lines that you got to ski and the stunning visuals that you captured. Thank you for all of it.
Man, to be honest I had more hope for "still making episodes, but abandoning the fifty," than "still skiing the lines, but done making episodes." But I'm happy they're doing what's good for them, so congratulations!
Best TH-cam series EVER. CODY & Bjorne, you are right up there with the best and everything you’ve shared. It’s been a privilege to watch you grow. Love backcountry skiing, love and respect mountains …
Hello everyone Thank you for the impressive film. Congratulations! This is a magnificent high mountain world. I wish you good mountain and ski tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
Cody and Bjarne, this has been my favorite “tv show” since its inception. Mountains, friends, tough times and good ones, personal growth, it had it all. This is what “reality tv” should be. Thanks for taking us along on the ride.

I have watched every single episode. You guys are legends.
I'll keep watching everything you do Cody. You're such an inspiration to us all. I'm old, 63, and you help me get out and live my life. Thank you for all you do. I hope you do get the last 4 lines, but even if you don't, whatever you do, safe travels!
Ya’ll started this adventure right as I was teaching my 6 y/o how to ski. Together he and I have watched every one of the episodes. And the intervening 5 years skiing at Taos has made him a fair little ripper, for a kid that lives in Oklahoma anyway. On more than one occasion, especially early on, he say thing to the effect of “I feel like Cody” and then put his hands in the air and hoot. Thanks.
Your first touring experience 20 years ago is so similar to my first touring experience a few years prior to yours. The fun, passion, inexperience, and bravado of youth,... and the stupidity, ignorance, and sheer luck. Being amongst it hooked me, and I've been learning ever since. Dropped out of touring because of a few hard losses; I wasn't involved, but lost several good friends in several incidences. Days when I was "Mr. Safety" and decided it wasn't my day to go out for a walk, and both the relief and the guilt were crushing. Eventually got back into touring, after a while. To paraphrase conversations I've had with MikeD, skiing is not worth dying for. And I'm still here doing it, and a mix of touring and resort is something I'm going to do, to continue to do, for as long as I possibly can. Thank you Cody and Bjarne. It's been a trip.
So bummed! One of the most genuine and refreshing ski mountaineering adventure shows on TH-cam. The places you took us and the people we met along the way. Brilliant! Thank you Cody & Bjarne.
Thank you Cody and Bjarne for all the Beautiful videos !!! Move to Mammoth in 92, did Bloody twice in 94 and 98. At 65 years old still getting out on my splitboard. Good Luck on the other 4, Safe Travels !!!
Proud of you, Cody. When we interviewed you at SIA after your line of the year, you were already a badass skier. Now you’re a badass human. Keep reminding us how to stay curious, adventurous, and humble.
As a snowboarder, and aspiring backcountry student, I watched every single one of these. You’re inspiringly humble yet hard charging in the mountains. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thank you Cody and Bjarne and friends. We will all miss these amazing videos. I’ve watched them all. They continue to inspire and motivate me. I wish you all the best.
Congrats on what you've done so far, for the growth of the channel, and thanks for the great entertainment! I came in somewhere in the first 5, and watching you and Bjarne's journey on the 50 has been really enjoyable. I'll probably never do any of the 50, but your videos inspire me to get out and go on adventures. I very much hope we get to see the rest of the 50, whenever that happens. And I'd also love to see other non-50 adventures, gear talk, etc., you guys have a great video style.
They say that you should never meet your heroes but I like to think of Cody and Bjarne as homies I haven't met yet. Since leaving the mountains a few years ago, this channel has kept me feeling involved and I will always cherish that. Thanks guys ❤
The sheer authenticity, intelligence, connection and wonderful vistas of this series is what made "The Fifty" so special for me. Cody and Bjarne, thanks SO much for taking us on a truly unique journey - and I use "journey" in EVERY sense of that word. The lessons we've learnt, the excitement we've shared with your achievements along the way and even a few of the tears I'm sure a few of us have shed at a couple of moments reflecting on friends lost....it's been incredible! I look forward to seeing what's next, but in the meantime, enjoy that family time, enjoy those runs WITHOUT a camera tracking your every move and above all, continue to enjoy life and stay safe! 🙏
Thank you Cody and Bjarne. This series has been by far the best to watch on TH-cam for the last couple of years. You boys took many of us through the pandemic years and kept things about mountains, how to safely plan and execute back country missions without the moral grandstanding the way other big named mountain outfits I won’t name spend half a video on. You introduced us to your tech stack, your kit, your planning approach, your backcountryX files with your routes, and the video quality has been amazing. You both deserve big awards for this. Really very well done! Thank you, it had meant a lot
Have to say, I did a 2 bike, hike, car shuttle, ski up one ridge across a glacier, and down another ridge years ago. Fun stuff. But a litter bittersweet knowing this is the last 50 vid. Hope to see more of some extraordinary content of something in the future.
It has been such a pleasure to be taken along on this journey. To see first hand what it takes to pull these descents off, the planning, the humility, the guts, the respect for the mountains. And the story telling, such great story telling. It has made me a better back country skier and all of us better humans. Thank you, can't wait to see what comes next!
I will never have the skill to ski any of these lines but even so, I eagerly awaited each episode. Each one was better than the last in terms of storytelling and amazing cinematography. You and Bjarne - and all you friends - drew me into an adventure I never knew I wanted to take. You are both amazing and I truly hope your journey continues and you let us come with you now and again. Until we see you again - safe travels.
Cody is the man.Thoroughly enjoyed this series.I lived in Mammoth Lakes for 10 years. With friends skied Bloody Mt. twice.Back in the early '80's.On metal edge Telemark skiis,3-pin bindings, and leather boots. There's nothing like being in the mountains, and backcountry skiing.
Thank you Cody and Bjarne. I hope you know that these videos provided a great primer for backcountry travel and evaluation of terrain. No, it is not the end-all-be-all (go take your avy courses folks!), but I think it did help educate skiers. That seems like a pretty amazing legacy, when you think about it. All the best.
Thanks Chris. It's cool that so many people took something away from our journey. If that's the legacy this series leaves, then I'm incredibly proud of what we did.
Been a blast watching this series over the past 5 years. The first episode came out right around when I put skins on for the first time. Thanks for inspiring us all and being such a great role model for the industry, showcasing humility, growth, and some bad-ass skiing!
Well congrats to almost completing this 50 project & having started on another one: Fatherhood. Your son & you will be spending a lot of precious moment together in the next decade to come. Just remember he will grow up so fast in a blink of an eye & you will be missing it more than the mountain fomo in the meantime. Enjoy your next life journey & we look forward seeing to you, Elise, & your son doing some family ski mountaineering together in about 15 years or so!!!
I enjoyed every second of this adventure! Cody and Bjarne are such a good backcountry team, hope they continue to film together over the coming years. Thanks to them for showing the world how to safely get after it!
This series was recommended to me by youtube when there were only 3 episodes out and it instantly captivated me and I started following that day after binging the first 3 episodes and have have looked forward to every upload since. Can't wait to see the completion of The Fifty and whatever else you upload here but I am definitely sad to see an end to a regular schedule/seasons of The Fifty project that brought me here initially.
Might be my favorite episode! Great work, totally encapsulates the feeling of getting out in the mountains with friends, even if the snow conditions aren't the best. I'll be looking forward to the other releases in the future!
OH NO!! What am are my family and I going to watch now?!? Cody & Bjarne, this journey has been AMAZING! My family love you and Bjarne so much, thank you for sharing this journey! Enjoy your beautiful family, my daughter and I were so excited to have met you here in Telluride (at such a sad event over the loss of our mutual friend), but that was a bright spot in our day!
I saw your first videos as a Midwestern kid living in a pancake-flat state, dreaming of skiing big mountains Your humble determination, drive, and storytelling were a big reason I moved West and made the leap to touring Your videos have been a transformative source of joy and inspiration in my life. Thank you for helping us learn the mountains. I wish you and Elyse all the best as you raise your beautiful son - he’s got one hell of a dad
As a lifetime snowboarder, this was the first series to give me an appreciation for skiers and the mutual stoke we all seem to share for speed, pow, and adventure. I hope to see you remaster and sell this as a box set one day, I would buy it. It would also be cool to recreate this with 5 extra lines you think should have been included in the original 50. Something to keep the fire alive for us all. Happy shredding.
Its like coming to the death. A little empty of the heart. And a great memory. Thanks for letting me go up the mountain and down the mountain with the various teams that were there. I also appreciated all the suffering. Suffering makes for great stories. Thanks!
It's sad to see this come to an end. What an amazing journey it's been to follow--we've also learned a ton, been inspired, had fear instilled in us, and joy outpoured. We'll miss you guys!!
As a snowboarder from the East coast, nothing has motivated me to get into the backcountry more than this series - what a ride! So full of great information on how to navigate the mountains with safety and respect, whether it be on skis/boards or on foot.
Cody, i want to thank you so much for taking me in a world that i have never been. 40 years ago i did some winter hiking in the white mountains which i loved. Thanks so much, Ken
I had always wanted to get into backcountry skiing but was very intimated and none of my friends were into it. This series gave me the confidence to just go for it and sign up for an Avy 1 by myself. I now have a buddy I recruited and we've done ~10 tours together. This show 100% gave me the push to do it, and now I have something I can pursue for a lifetime. Gracias 🙏
Thanks Cody and Bjarne!! I will continue to follow what ever content you guys decide to post, its been super fun! Keep bringing us along on your adventures...
@cody I hope life is treating you kindly. I hope you are okay with what’s happening. You have some lovely people around you. Thank you for bringing some smiles and escapism to me in England. I’m sure you will continue to do so, somehow, if that is your wish. Ride on cowboy. ❤
As a snowboarder this has been one of my favourite channels to watch on TH-cam. Very sad to see the 'finish' and I have enjoyed every video from the first to whatever comes next on the channel, thanks for allowing us along with you both on these adventures.
I'm dashed that it's over, but I get it. It's time. I've enjoyed watching every episode, each one generated lively discussion amongst ski friends. Bjarne's camera work is worthy of an award, with fantastic storytelling by Cody. Best of luck with Mt. Robson when you get around to it, it's a big gnarly beast like many other of the 50 objectives, but hopefully, you can ski it soon. Thanks for creating my favourite series on TH-cam, good luck with whatever comes next.
What a treat for these eyes....OMG, it may be the LAST Fifty and what a cast of characters...JT Holmes amoungst the superstars....( I am sure that peeps like Hilaree, Shane McConkey, Rob Gaffney, Kipp Garre and Allison Kreutzen.....were there in spirit cheering your group on) WE are here on this side a very short time and its the Community you speak of that brings joy to this Cdn adventurer....Cheers, Bruce Spanton P.s NO matter what you produce, I know I will be watching (Thank you) and your community for sharing what truly is the key to life (Community) and the outdoors...Carpe Diem and always remember to embrace the Suck...because what on the other side is worth the adventure!!!
Utmost respect for the years and years of incredible art documenting your time in the mountains. As a skier who grew up watching you rip big mountains in classic matchstick productions to where you are now its been nothing short of inspiring. Thank you for the hard work and insight. Excited for the next chapter.
Production quality aside (which is outstanding - as someone who makes videos for a living I'm constantly blown away by how hard Bjarne works on these) the coolest part of watching this series has been feeling like you're joining the homie next door while he goes for a rip... This series has been an outstanding watch start to finish and it's been so amazing to see you both modelling not just proper backcountry etiquette but proper human etiquette; I think it's safe to say that what started as a series has transcended it's goal of documenting 50 lines and will go down as one of the classic pieces of ski culture alongside every McConkey part + Warren Miller. Kudos to you two and I'll be raising a cold one to you both this evening down in Nelson.
I’ve really enjoyed this entire series, which my wife refers to as “That show we watched in Utah [skiing for a week]?” All the best on the next set of adventures… we’ll be waiting 😊. Thanks Cody, Bjarne and all the awesome friends/guests you introduced us to!
I got a bit choked up at the end of this one. Thanks for taking us along with you for such an awesome ride, Cody and Bjarne! I hope you eventually nail the last 4 and share them with us. But no big deal if you don't. Just keep loving life... and especially family life! Cody, I hope our paths cross again somewhere along the way. Keep it real, brother! Au revoir!
The Fifty is one of the most epic journey ever. This entire series has been an inspiration and has redefined to me what an adventure should be. Will keep tuning in and rewatching those epic lines and fun times!
Aaaaahh….you are teasing us Cody & Bjarne! There will be more I am sure. Thanks for the entertainment so far and perhaps above all, the honest and profound appreciation of nature. Nothing but respect. But hey, what can go wrong with an awesome swede as company ;-)
When I first came across these adventures during Covid, I didn't realise how much the films would develop and how invested I would become. I hope we get to finish the 50 with you in the future, but will look forward to following your next adventures. Thank you, Cody. Thank you, Bjarne. Thank you, team.
Congratulations When you started on this adventure I suggested that achieving 49 and being alive toasting your achievement is success , trying 50 and your friends toasting your memory in a bar is failure. I take my hat off to you, an amazing set of stories thank you for sharing this part of your life with us all, it make me wish I was 30 years younger and could do all this.
Man! I don't even know what to say. So good, so much growth, such a great run. I can't thank you two enough for inviting us along. Filming something changes it, for sure; but you guys seemed to keep it so real. To see you and those close to you enjoying the each other's company in the mountains was the perfect book end. Be well you two.
Cody & Bjarne! THANK YOU. It was clear things needed to get closed out in the series, but please know that all you have done has been a constant source of joy, excitement and kinship for so many skiers. Can't wait to see what y'all get up to next!
Whoa, easy on the Day Wreckers, fella! Those Alpine Trekkers got you into the backcountry in the first place. You should be calling them Life Makers! Joking aside (April Fool), great series. So refreshing to see what's really behind skiing big lines, not just the glamorous part. Happy parenting to you and Elyse. The greatest adventure of them all!
It’s been an amazing series and I look forward to seeing when productions for the last 4 find their way onto the interwebs in coming years. Thank you for bringing us along in the journey. I always thank the mountain for passage now because of this series. It’s a beautiful way to respect our world.
Thanks for sharing so much of the journey and the learning. In my 41st year of a 50 year field glacier project this has resonated with my learning, approach and reason for starting and continuing. Working on Mount Baker and Shuksan each of the last 40 summers, two or your lines in particular were my favorites. Three of my kids have also worked 5-15 years in the field with me, so it became a family endeavor.
You’re 50 project is why my wife and I got into ski mountaineering! We’re east coasters. We’ve made 2 attempts on Turkmens ravine but had to turn back due to bad weather conditions. But seeing and learning from your channel made us feel better about the decisions we made. If it don’t feel right don’t do it. Thank you and Bjarne for everything! Will continue to watch!
I was late to this party only discovering this a couple of months ago. Sad to see it end. I chugged. Maybe you’ll have more in store for us. But if you’re off to focus on your family now, you are no less noble. Thank you for sharing these rad adventures with the world.
Sad to see it end, even though there was always a finite number of fifty looming over everything! Yours and Nicolai Schirmers are my absolute favourite ski channels, hope to see more skiing in the future! Cheers!
Such an epic series on so many levels. Having the guts to say “Enough” to chasing deadlines and giving yourself the best chance possible of completing the remaining lines when the stars align maybe the bravest decision yet. Thankyou

Thank you for all of it.
THIS is why TH-cam is amazing. We get to see productions that would not ever hit the airwaves.
Thanks for taking us on the ride(s), Cody & Team!
Man, to be honest I had more hope for "still making episodes, but abandoning the fifty," than "still skiing the lines, but done making episodes." But I'm happy they're doing what's good for them, so congratulations!
Just stay tuned, there will be more to come.
Best TH-cam series EVER. CODY & Bjorne, you are right up there with the best and everything you’ve shared. It’s been a privilege to watch you grow. Love backcountry skiing, love and respect mountains …
Hello everyone
Thank you for the impressive film. Congratulations! This is a magnificent high mountain world.
I wish you good mountain and ski tours.
With alpine greetings
Raphael Wellig
Cody and Bjarne, this has been my favorite “tv show” since its inception. Mountains, friends, tough times and good ones, personal growth, it had it all. This is what “reality tv” should be. Thanks for taking us along on the ride.
I have watched every single episode. You guys are legends.
Thank you Frederic
I'll keep watching everything you do Cody. You're such an inspiration to us all. I'm old, 63, and you help me get out and live my life. Thank you for all you do. I hope you do get the last 4 lines, but even if you don't, whatever you do, safe travels!
Thanks Michael. That's really amazing to hear. Thank you.
@@CodyTownsendmichael - just for the record: i'm 63, but i'm not old in any way.
I am a snowboarder, and this skiing project has been one of my favorite things over the last few years. Thanks for sharing 🤙
Great to hear!
A long strange trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
As a dad I knew when the kid showed up this show was down for the count. Thanks for the rides and the vibes.
Bravo! Thanks for taking us along- every one
Appreciate you checking it out. Stoked to have you along for the ride.
I may have shed a tiny tear with this series ending. Its been amazing to come along on your adventures, and inspiring for my own adventures.
You and me both. I got a little choked up watching the end for the first time. Thank you Jon.
Cody, you're a legend. Thanks for years of epic storytelling! I hope you do finish all 50 lines. Cheers, brother, and buenas noches!
They say that you should never meet your heroes but I like to think of Cody and Bjarne as homies I haven't met yet. Since leaving the mountains a few years ago, this channel has kept me feeling involved and I will always cherish that. Thanks guys ❤
I like that. Thanks
Much love brother
Thanks Cody & Bjarne for showing us how to dream big and sharing the lessons you've learned along the way 💙
Our pleasure!
Thanks Cody and Bjarne for the privilege of bringing us along for the ride, truly enjoyed it over the years. Peace out
Cody and Bjarne! What an inspiration. Way to give yourself permission to do what you feel is right for you and your family. Staying tuned!
Glad you like them. Thank you Colten
One of the best video series I have seen to date, hope you keep producing top notch content, even if no more fifty project video happen
And thank you
Josh and drew are two of the nicest people i have gotten to meet in the ski industry.. Great guys with a great attitude on life!
I saw your first videos as a Midwestern kid living in a pancake-flat state, dreaming of skiing big mountains
Your humble determination, drive, and storytelling were a big reason I moved West and made the leap to touring
Your videos have been a transformative source of joy and inspiration in my life. Thank you for helping us learn the mountains. I wish you and Elyse all the best as you raise your beautiful son - he’s got one hell of a dad
Dang, I can’t help but be bummed … the best thing to ever hit TH-cam!!! Also, thank you, it’s been a fun ride!
From one Cody to another, thanks to you and Bjarne for many hours of wonderful mountain lines...
Knowing it was finite has not made this easier. Loved it, will rewatch and continue showing my wife the joy of skiing through your excellent videos.
Loved the epic journey. Feeling a bit sad today to be honest... thanks for the journey
Damn I can't believe it's been 5 years. I started watching this when I started Skiing and working in a ski shop. I've lived every episode.
Well done Cody, Bjarne , crew. Enjoy whatever the next adventure, chapter brings.
Keep giving them the beans Cody! Thank you and your partners for showing us the Lines that most of us can only dream of taking.
Cody and Bjarne, thank you both for the series. You kept the stoke high, and encouraged us all to go find our own adventures with great friends.
I’m glad Cody and friends are keeping this going. Inspiring content, great people, mountains.
I’ve really enjoyed this entire series, which my wife refers to as “That show we watched in Utah [skiing for a week]?”
All the best on the next set of adventures… we’ll be waiting 😊.
Dude thanks so much. I appreciate you making it such a small deal about “ending the fifty search” get home safe, that’s the goal.
When I first came across these adventures during Covid, I didn't realise how much the films would develop and how invested I would become. Its been a wild ride and a lot of fun, and we've met a lot of amazing people along the way. I hope we get to finish the 50 with you in the future, but will look forward to following your next adventures.
Thank you, Cody. Thank you, Bjarne. Thank you, team.
This series is the second best series ever made. After The Sopranos of cause. Thanks a lot for making it happen!
Congratulations
When you started on this adventure I suggested that achieving 49 and being alive toasting your achievement is success , trying 50 and your friends toasting your memory in a bar is failure.
I take my hat off to you, an amazing set of stories
thank you for sharing this part of your life with us all, it make me wish I was 30 years younger and could do all this.
Cheers!
All good. This was a MOMUMENTAL effort and very entertaining. Thanks Bjarne and Cody and team!
what fun!! sure will miss the 50!!! thanks for the last 5 years!!
Soul of skiing right there. Cody and Bjarne, thanks for keeping us inspired yet grounded through this series.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, Cody and Bjarne!!
Thanks to the FIFTY crew. Awesome series. Keep the faith!
Such an epic series on so many levels.
Having the guts to say “Enough” to chasing deadlines and giving yourself the best chance possible of completing the remaining lines when the stars align maybe the bravest decision yet.
Thankyou
Thank you - Bjarne & Cody... beautiful locations, amazing cinematography & stories..Safe journeys..God bless..
