  • I hang my tarps without knots. It's easy & fast, especially if the weather is bad. The Nite Ize Camjam is amazing. I like to hang my tarp line without knots and that's why I use the Nite Ize CamJam's. If you want to tighten cords and pitch a tarp without knots, the Nite Ize CamJam may be just what you are looking for. I just picked these CamJam's at Lowe's home Improvement and I absolutely love their capabilities. These CamJam's easily take the place of tying knots.
I highly recommend these small camjam cord tighteners. In the video you will see that I pitched a tarp and I used the Nite Ize for the tarp line as well as the tarp. I left it overnight and when I checked the next day, there was no slippage whatsoever on the plastic CamJam.
These would be great to add to your camping supplies or even general use around the house.

FYI for future readers.. as for weight.. The polymer cam jams are not weight weighted.. But using the same size nite ize polymer biners they at going to be good for somewhere around 15-25lbs each.. The aluminum ones are way better and the same size aluminum cam jam is rated to 280 lbs and hardly weigh more. They also make a slightly larger one good for up to 8-9mm rope that is rated to 500lbs each.. They are pretty heavy by comparison though.. So for bushcraft, hiking etc.. I would recommend using the smaller 5mm aluminum models they are a great bargain buy and very durable with good positive springs on the biner ends..

what if you clipped the clip to the tarp and then went around one tree, back under the tarp, around the other tree, and then clipped the other canjam to the other side of the tarp? seems like that would tension the tarp as well as the ridgeline

Check Amazon Jim, I'm pretty sure they have them. I'm sure you could put these to good use in the forests of Nova Scotia.

That cord ain't bad and will hold a decent bit of weight but it's definitely not as good as paracord.
