I left this comment on a different video but I just wanted to share my feeling here too......I'm a Celtic supporter and I grew up watching Davie Cooper play for Rangers and Scotland (should of had loads more caps btw), he really was one of the greatest players there ever was. Modern so called "greats" could have learned so much from Davie, not just the skills he had but also the manner in which he played the game. This guy loved his Rangers, a true Rangers man of that time. An absolute tragedy dying so young with still so much left to offer.
"One of the greatest players there ever was" ?? Ffs, give your head a wobble! He wasn't even the best player in Scotland, that accolade went to a young Paul McStay!!
Davie never said ever WE ARE THE PEOPLE he will be turnin in his grave wae that pish, he is buried in Hamilton next tae ma granda....... so leave that pish at the door Mark.
Moody Blue ...my dad gave him that name at Ibrox .fond memories of him slipping me a pound note for a matchbox car ...while my dad was treating him on the treatment bench ....a gentleman with a genius brain coordination to feet especially that left one . ❤
he was a legend my first true idol 💙 he signed my autograph book at my first rangers game in the old East inclosure I couldn't believe he was in front of me ,I used to try and create his goal against Aberdeen in the cup final in my dads back garden I used to take it from a small slope on the edge of the garden later on I named it the Cooper slope davie Cooper davie Cooper on the wing 💙 ❤️🤍💙
Of his generation one of the best. Players today will usually not run at defences but he did and that made him a footie fans player. However, no young man should pass at that age. RIP.
Say he was in his prime around then, took Scotland to the 86 World Cup, was at Cardiff when he scored the penalty, i couldn't watch and was right behind the net and heard Southall get hand to the ball
I'll always remember Super's Free kick in the Skol Cup Final v the Sheep. Leighton never even smelt the ball until it was back out in the six yard box.
Absolutely worshipped Davie when I was a youngster…couldn’t hit a coo on the arse with a shovel with his right foot but his left foot well that’s another story
What a ridiculous comment. He wasn’t a “good” player on his day he was a sensational player. And if you think Jimmy was better then fine but what’s the need with the couldn’t lace his boots part? complete disrespect for a scottish footballing legend.

Thank God For Davie Cooper.
Iam a Tim ,Cooper was the last player you wanted to see on the ball against Celtic, but he had a lot of quite games as well.
Say he was in his prime around then, took Scotland to the 86 World Cup, was at Cardiff when he scored the penalty, i couldn't watch and was right behind the net and heard Southall get hand to the ball

Craig Guild Jim Leighton said he got a hand to it, Davie Cooper replied “Aye, on the way out.”
And by the way this was my first old firm game, so get it right up ye
Brilliant player died to young RIP
Happy memories I was there.
Super Cooper RIP
Ideally at 1:49 there'd be a Davie Cooper clone steaming in from the left to take the pass Davie was looking to play. What a player.
WHAT A GAME TWO OF THEM RIGHT AT IT
What a boss ! Aitken and co just fouled him any time he was near !
Simply the best
Absolutely worshipped Davie when I was a youngster…couldn’t hit a coo on the arse with a shovel with his right foot but his left foot well that’s another story
'Penalty to Rangers' no surprise!!!
Surely there is much better footage of Davie Cooper⁉️
A uefa cup game v Finnish team Tallinn Coop ruled
he gave the ball away a lot
Davie cooper was a great player but a lot of poor play in this to be honest .they won that's the main thing 👌
No having a go but this is just him giving the baw away again n again n again
Not in the same class as Paul McStay.
This was him on an off day!
The boy was fuckin class.
Big Aitken - what a lump!
'Feed the bear'!!!
So many fouls
💙
In the 80s and 90s he was the Scottish Maradona#easy
And if we are getting close Brian Laudrup made junky look like a school boy so shut it
Lost the ball a lot in this game
And you have 40 years of hurt hiding behind one cup win
Emporors Clothes 😜
I didn't see anything remarkable in this clip.

Johnstone was pish
I'm a Bluenose, no apologies Johnston to be fair may have been more effective, but he had nowhere near the style, grace and class of Cooper.
Overrated.
Your a cert soap dodger ffs away and boilyour head 🇬🇧, go and listen to what Ruud Gullit said aboot him GENIUS
