So many memories there, I listened to the final on the radio with my dad, unrestrained joy at the final whistle. I missed the trophy parade at Ibrox because it was my BB company's annual display that night. That was hard to take, but duty and all that 😄
Willie Waddell was interviewed years later and he said the quality of the teams Rangers beat to win that tournament, was amazing; Rennes, Sporting, Torino, Bayern, Moscow Dynamo. A magnificent achievement and Rangers' finest achievement.
Watched the final in my aunts house because she had a coloured tv , when the first goal went in my brother jumped up off the couch and came crashing down breaking the couch.
S Millar I was 8 at the time tbh I don’t remember anything of the game apart from winning and my brother breaking the couch. We could have stayed at home & watched it on our B&W tv and my brother could have broken our own couch.
The game wasn't shown live because of Scotland v Wales (i think) at Hampden that night, which i attended. This was typical of the SFA's disdain towards a club who were in Spain enhancing Scotland's reputation in world football.
No surprise, same as 2008 they forced us to play 4 matches in a week only giving the players one day's rest before the final. When every other football association in the world would do whatever they could to help their countrys teams win a major competition. Had it been celtic that year they'd have postponed the fixtures whether the only clubs liked it or not.
