Hi Jeff. I noticed that some thangka's show the central figure's practice implements: ghanta, dorje, and damaru. Do you know what is the earliest representation of these objects as practice implements?

For the vajra and bell they can be found in late Gandharan, Swat Valley and Kashmiri art.
