He is really serious about you and cares deeply about you only if he decides to introduce you first to his close friends /buddies and then at a second stage to his family (the latter is really huge).....
In that case you have passed the "test" as a girlfriend and he can safely introduce you to his social circle without being afraid getting embarrassed by his choice. You can't imagine how important is for us men (for our dignity and status) to feel proud when we introduce our partner to dear friends and family

There are a LOT of guys out there that would still offer their help to a woman as a part of a strategy to sleep with that woman....without really caring about her :)
