    Man if I still had my Q2 I would be so stoked on the updates! The highlight weighted metering combined with the iDR looks so good! Looks like you can finally get a decent preview on your LCD screen. The Auto WB examples at the end also looked very good. Very nice!

    Thanks Tobis, love your videos on the Q2. Bought one myself last year and overall very happy with it. But I agree with your previous points that JPEG was a bit weak, so I will definitely try this update now. Only thing is I wish JPEG's kept a bit more resolution as the difference in detail vs. RAW is very apparent. I would personally rather spend less time in Lightroom but for the Q2 it's worth it especially for landscape shots.

    Nice video and I like your enthusiasm. It’s a fantastic camera.
    Can you do a Q2 macro vs a Q2 non macro comparison? I’m sure I’ve got better close up shots without switching to macro.

    thanks for the update. for future comparison videos, you may want to consider having images side by side at some point in the comparison in order to better appreciate the differences between them.

    Thanks for the videos. I have had an X100V for about a year and am very pleased with it. Like you, I mostly shoot jpegs. About 6 months ago, I bought a Q2 Mono, which I am in love with. I have been fighting the urge to buy a colour Q2 also. Now that another month has gone by, do you have any further comments about the Q2 with jpegs and the firmware update? Your response would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

    The highlight weighted metering and iDR is a godsend. I tried the Q2 at the Leica store and didn't change any of the factory settings. It was shooting in RAW, and everything was just under and/or overexposed. So dissapointing, but 4.0 with iDR and HWM looks like I can reconsider the camera again :) thank you

    I disagree on the firmware update support. this camera being from 2019 shouldn't mean its exempt from updates. iPhones have update support up to 7 years out, and many features are handed down with some not because of hardware limitations. mind you a Q2 is x5 the price of an iPhone so id expect a MUCH longer support cycle

    • @TobisTings
      @TobisTings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I never meant to say that it shouldn't be this way - quite the opposite. But at least in my experience most camera manufactures simply do not offer the same level of long term support for their cameras as Apple does for their iphone. Thats exactly why I wanted to mention it and commend Leica for doing it this way because its simply not the industry standard in the camera sector. I would love to see more camera makers continue to add new features even years after a camera has been released.

    • @jordohayes
      @jordohayes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @RemmyMusic. You should know that there are a lot of camera companies who don’t offer firmware updates. Camera companies lack the resources that Apple has. For Leica to do this should be rewarded.

    • @RemmyMusic1
      @RemmyMusic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jordohayes im surprised its not backed by the law to support hardware with software for at least X number of years. Especially in the EU

    • @jordohayes
      @jordohayes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RemmyMusic1 Putting into law what "support" would cover, especially over time be impossible. Ex: Would just offering an update on a bug be sufficient vs providing new features/massive improvements? The resources alone to support legacy hardware would be a nightmare for most companies as they need to focus on the next product to stay alive.

    how is the continuous autofocus and tracking? I rented a Q2 for a weekend about a year ago and it was very jittery. made me nervous it wasn't focusing correctly and was distracting. how has your experience been here?

    • @TobisTings
      @TobisTings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works well enough in my experience, but I get the same feeling of nervousness that you described. Thats why I use it in single shot AF for 95% of the time. Seems to work for the most part and I just switch to C-AF when I want to shoot a moving subject.

    I’m thinking about going for a Q2… I’d love to have something a little better than my x100v, full frame with a Leica lens is very nice. 28 is a little wide for me though… I’m more of 35mm guy, but I could live with it 😉. I think I’ll wait a bit for the Q3 though.

    Despite its fantastic build quality with a actually proper mechanical lens(and not focus by wire), and the ability for proper manual/zone focusing(and depth of field marking), the Leica q2 loses an 2 important categories for me(for me):
    - Size
    - Low quality JPG engine
    Fuji X100V wins both categories for me(for me).

    After decades of wanting I finally bought a leica the Q2. I shoot a variety of brands and formats very happy with fujifilm the X100f and the Xpro2 are awesome cameras. The Q2 I got on Saturday as the shop was charging the battery I took my X-pro2 for walk and found a street protest. The camera did the business loved the results here if interested th-cam.com/video/jfVvFt1ENfA/w-d-xo.html. Even though I love the fujis I have to say my first impressions of the Q2 are that I'm not too happy with the noise at 3200, I've just done the update, and will test high iso more as I get used to the camera the other thing I love is the build quality it feels absolutely bullet proof which I love as I'm very heavy on my gear. Liked and subbed Tobis cheers XX
