Cormorants are super effective on any occasion and this is down to the profile as well as its general ability to be either a nymph or a lure. I have many flavours in my box but this one for early season is hard to match.

Thanks Lindsay for another very nice video and fly. Thanks for sharing.
No problem Lee👍
Great looking pattern. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome buddy 👍
Tip Top Lindsay best wishes from Northumberland
Cheers Bob👍
Nice fly Lyndsay. Thread body looks the part, will give you a bash
Cheers Peterm worth a go for sure.
Lovely pattern Lindsay. Wonderful instructions as always, thank you
Thanks so much 😊
Just another great fly 🇺🇸
Thanks Shawn.
The ultimate multipurpose pattern. Varieties and variations are almost limitless. As are the methods of using/presenting the fly. It just inspires confidence for all experience levels of anglers. The cherry on top for this version is just how much difference the dubbing loop thorax completes the fly. Working as a seamless thorax hackle combination. Splitting the thread works. Overall it adds up to less time than selecting preparing tying in a hackle. With an overall positive improvement of both durability and effectiveness.
Thanks Mick.
I like that
Not seen one with the dubbing on the head, nice
Give it a go 👍
Great pattern. Always looking for new cormorant patterns for the box and will definitely tie up a few of those.
Thank you! 😊
Wonderful as always!! Fished the other day....failed to prepare, and well, you can guess the rest. Was a wee bit of swearing.
We have all done it pal 🤣
I think your fly tying is brilliant thankyou 👍

Cracking Cormie Lindsay 🐟🎣
Thanks pal 👍
Greetings from sunny Australia Lindsay,I love the pattern. Can you give me more information regarding the dubbing and where it can be purchased.
cheers
Thanks, you can find Andrew Ellis on Facebook his company is called Troutstalkers. He does ship world wide though I am not sure what postage would be.
Tidy job mate 👌
Thanks pal.
Nice 👍
Cheers 👍
I fish lakes a ton and I have found that content from the UK and Canada are quite educational.
What makes this a cormorant? Is it because the wing is on top? VS a Dial Bach which has a "beard" instead of a "wing"?
It is not a true cormorant I suppose just one of the many varieties. I think what defines it for me is the profile and black wing.
Sorry for the silly questions, but I see a lot of cormorant patterns from TH-cam tiers in the UK. I'm not heard of it in the US, but it is obviously (as you folks say) a cracking fly judged on the abundance of tiers posting videos. #1 Is it fished in rivers or lochs or both? #2 It sounds as though it is fished as a nymph so does it represent a specific insect? Great video! Thanks in advance Lindsay.
Just saw some of the answers below. Sorry for the redundancy.
Not to worry Thomas, I am not quite sure why the fly is not used more in America. I have never tried it on a river myself, I use it on our stocked Stillwater.
Like the look Lindsay, thanks, stay safe, Big Davie
Cheers pal
Hi, is this fly usable in riverfishing or lake fishing ? I do riverfishing here in the Belgium Ardennes. Greetings
Not used it on the river, it’s designed for Stillwater fishing.
Thanks Lindsay, nice pattern! Being new to British fly patterns I'm curious as to what the cormorant imitates. It looks like a fry or small minnow but it is commonly fished static on a washing line. If I'd been given a cormorant fly last season I would have fished it as a small streamer, in shallow water with fairely fasy 6 to 12 inch strips (and may do a bit of that anyway). Cheers!
It is a very versatile fly.
Put a team of three on a Di3, and slow figure of eight. Usually deadly early season mate
It is considered to be a catch all fly. It can imitate a nymph trying to break through the surface. It is also fished in a lot of different methods. You can put a team of three of them (usually an attractor cormorant on the top dropper and two more natural ones. You can fish them in a slow figure of 8 with any line you wish or if you go a bit deeper you can give them a fairly fast retrieve. It is one of the very few flies there isn't an actual 'correct' way to fish it.
Hi Linsay i shall tie some of these, but could I ask why u put the dubbing in split thread as opposed to just dubbing it straight on the thread.
Thanks Dennis
Hi Dennis, thanks for watching I just think you get a much better finish rather than just dubbing it on.

I dont tie, where could I buy some? And what am I asking for?
Where are you based Jack? Just send the link to the video to any tier and they will be able to sort you out. I believe @stevecullen ties bespoke flies to order.
Nice video as always! Where do you get the junglecock
I just picked up a new one from AM Fly Tying at the BFFI £45 and will do me grand.
@@lindsayiflyfish thanks!
Hey there nice fly in the vice
Thanks pal.
Nice job ! You could rename your videos to "Tying with Sean Connery" and increase the views; you sound a lot like him.
🤣 a few folks have said that, make my wife laugh 😂
