The trick with this kit is to build up each half , making sure all the joins are properly lined up , then stick the halves together , trying to do it as a series of tubes is the road to loads of filler. Also , prime all parts inside and out black , that nasty white plastic just lets light shine through . Lastly , the nose and the horrible gap , 3D printing to the rescue or have the nose up. Only huge Concorde around and it looks damn good on that stand .
This seems to be a recurring comment so I really appreciate the words of wisdom 💜
You jolted my memory. I thought, didn't I buy a Concorde at a garage sale for about five dollars? Turned around and looked on my shelf. Yup, there it was. But it's a 1/144 scale. And it was made by USAirfix. In 1979. So I opened it for the first time. The decals are shot. The fuselage halves fit together pretty well. But the tip of the nose will need a little work. It's 17" long. Crazy. Good luck with that monster you have there.
It's....it's definately built now 😂💀🔥
Really looking forward to seeing your video-build of this unique kit 🙏
Thank you for taking the time to post these fabulous videos!
Love the cats, too 🤗
You're very welcome - make sure to subscribe 💜
I've just been handed this kit by a friend. Spent an hour or more trying to get decent fit of one of the engine bays. Conclusion=i need a lot more putty!!! It reminds me a lot of the 1964 airfix Catalina with how the parts are attached to the sprues with huge amounts of styrene. I wish I'd both a lot of luck😂
We're both gonna hate it aren't we! 👀😭😂
If you get a model kit that you just hate, the cats will love batting all the pieces across the floor.
Very true! 💜
@@MsModellerworth buying?
This was a Christmas Present for me (Parent's approval) back in 2005. Not the best ever kit to build, but, it is impressive in size. If you're ok with an imperfect but sizeable kit, it's a great build. If you're after a perfect kit, it's going to require a lot of work.
Just wait till you see mine 🙃💀
Somebody buy this woman some Tamiya extra thin please.
I have some, I just love Revelllllllllllllll
@@MsModeller its hideous stuff
Looks like a great kit, definitely looking forward to seeing you build it
You and me both! 💜
I had one of these a good 15 years ago, bought it from Hobbycraft on a clearance sale for £7.99! I ended up selling it on as simply too big for my available workspace. Not one of Airfix's finer moments to be sure, but with care and effort can be built up to be an impressive model.👍
£7.99! God I am jealous! 👀
Got one a few years ago still not started yet. From what I’ve been told it’s better to build the fuselage left and right halves first then join them together.
I believe the front undercarriage is in the wrong place(slightly too far forward IIRC).
Thanks - this is really helpful! 💜
Good luck with that challenging kit. You are braver than I am. It will be quite the eye catcher when done.
Bill
Long time no see! You're one of my og subs! I hope you enjoy the build process! 💜
I’ve heard it’s easier to build if you build each half of the fuselage in complete halves then if any gaps and miss alignment can be worked on the top and bottom of the fuselage once joined
Thank you for the tip 💜
excellent looking forward to watch this build
You and me both! 💜
I’ve got the Marivox kit of the 105g. Have you done a build video?
Coming real soon 😀
I opted to get the Revell version after seeing the comments on this kit. Looking forward to seeing your build and hoping the kit i have is better 🙏
Also got a Valkyrie to build and it looks even bigger than Concorde😮
You will find it is the same kit, Revell reboxed some Heller kits and the Helker/Airfix 72nd Concorde was one of them. Can be built into a prety impressve model. Prepare for using some filler, and LOTS of white paint. IIRC I used 2 cans of Halfords spray paint on it.
@@ADAMCOOPER-vx9sy oh darn it 🙈 (imagine much more expletives than that)🤣
Thank you both for the comments....yeahhhhh they're the same kit. We're all screwed 🤣
Concorde kits will always sell, even if the quality isn't the best, because the real aircraft was so historically significant and beautiful. I recently built the 144th scale Airfix model (I revisited it after more than 45 years because it was my second ever model kit when I was eight years old) and it does have its issues but with some work it can look pretty OK. Maybe it's time for the manufacturers to come up with an all new tool for Concorde rather than recycling tools that are close to 50 years old now. First time visiting the channel.
Hope you enjoyed and subbed! You're very right! People will always buy Concorde! 💜
I remember seeing that box in the newsagent when I got my first kit in 2006 when I still in primary school. Think it was £25 and was alongside the Avro Vulcan which was also £25
So cheap 🥲
I’ve heard that the Airfix Concord being a true nightmare..I would buy this kit in a snap if it wasn’t that bad..But I’ve not heard, watched or read anyone liking this kit..But your very right and Airfix should retool their concord..Then people like me who want a concord will buy it.!
Great video on this notorious model..Thanks and all the best..
Well, I hope you enjoy watching me trying to build it 🤣
@@MsModeller well on this build I’m not envious and I think your truly brave taking on this old Airfix horror..Again I wish Airfix would redo Concord..Thank you for your kind reply and all the best👍
The main problem is that Concorde has to be clean - A nice matt finish on a bad fitting military kit doesn't highlight imperfections as badly as a Civil scheme or a car- A semi-Gloss white finish will show every sink mark and seam
I have such dread about how this will go! 💜
Looking forward to you building this. I've made the Airfix 1/144 kit which is pretty dreadful.
me too!
Thanks both! 💜
Good luck with this kit. The bigger they are...
The Airfix Concorde was a kit that taught me how to model. It was one of the first times I used tape, rubber bands and spring clips to hold things together while they set. That was back in the 1970s. It was also the first time I used spray paint (Car paint from a garage). A worthy experience, but not my best kit when finished.
Thanks for the info! 💜
@@MsModeller I only do it for your Algorithm. All the Best.
I built Revell version. The wings have no support to fuselage is the main problem. Mine needed a lot of filling. But makes a great model. Have it on display in my flying school. Many comment on it. Also no glass in passenger windows. Also main windows slight too narrow. Not sure if Airfix version better.
Mine i fitted all nav. lights and after burners with sound.
The Revell, Heller, and Airfix versions are all the same, so I'm worried. Butttt the glass is fine - Glue n Glaze to the rescue! 💜
You are so beautiful; love your hands and smile, in fact talking about the model definitely its not a kit for all modellers, its challenging but the results are great I think huge models have an special magic that small ones doesn't have, concorde its one of the most important planes in the history of aviation that's why it has to be huge and very detailed
I'm very excited to see it when I finish it! 😊
The worst kits are the best for honing your skills.. when I started modelling again after a 20 year break, I did 2 Revell Memphis Belle kits back to back on purpose because it is renowned for being such an awful kit.. really wanted to practice all my techniques 😂
Completely get it. It's all about getting the right balance 💜
OMG its a 1:72 concorde!!! good video again!
OMG it's Roarex 💜
Trumpet 1/32 Me262 was my worst ever. The nose didn’t even come close to sealing up nicely when I went to put the two halves of the body together. There was like a 6mm gap at the front. The cockpit was just built too wide. Such a waste of time and money.
That sounds devastating! 😭
It doesn't look terrible . . . . But perhaps the problems will pop up more in the build. £100+ definitely seems steep for that on the second hand market
It doesn't look terrible, but all the comments 🥲
I want to build it a one time. But with a functional nose and window. This might require installation of small magnets instead of scratchbuilding some rails...
Beyond my capabilities but v interesting 💜
Test fit, test fit and test fit again and I'm sure it will go together fine.
We'll find out soon! 💜
I was lucky enough to get one of these brand new for £20
What a steal 💜
I stick my big models on my model room wall with command strips.
Good idea 💜
I have built this kit and it fought me all the way.A proper dog.
Exactly what I expect! 💜
worst kits ive ever seen are the Revell 1/72 P-51D Mustang.
its a real rivet monster, so old and bad, i just threw it in the garbage and bought the newer airfix kit.
but by far the worst kit i ever built, was the Cooperativa 1/72 Lavochkin La-15, that thing was a nightmare, more flash then moulded parts!
Well, you didn't say this was the worst sooooooooooooo that's a positive at least 🤣
Looking forward to this
I'm not 🤣
Be interesting to see 👀it built.
I'm already hating the build 😂
@@MsModeller Y'all gonna be filming 🎥 it?
@@steve1315 yeah, it'll be a video when it's done 😊 and streamed it today
Hi Try Trumpeter kits they are marvellous!
I've done some on my website before 😊
Its a heller kit reboxed by airfix and revell. If memory serves me right they actually say in the instructions that you need filler to fix the gaps😂😂😂
Oh god! I'm scared 🤣
It's been a while since I chatted on your channel, so hi again. Anyway, I heard nothing good of this kit. I have seen a couple that were built nice but it takes a lot of good non shrinking filler and maybe window decals. I want one but there was a hope that some other company would tool a new one. These are about $120+ Cdn and not worth it. I just make $20 an hour. I'm hoping to find an abandoned one for nothing. I have two 1/100 Concordes which will suffice until then. I'd crush the 1/72 model but I like like Concordes to much.
Hello again! Lovely to see you back! I'm terrified of this kit and I'm dreading starting it this weekend! 💜
@@MsModeller I'm just going off what I've seen on ARC and Brit. They do turn out nice but need work. If I could get one cheap enough I would get one.
Most interested in the accuracy of the nose.
I would say this is just generally not a super accurate model 😂🙃
It's huge ,I would be in a panic with this kit ,I think it's not for a newbie 😅😅😅😅
I'm screwed then \🤣
Cute cats!!!
🥺
If this is as bad as their tsr-2 eek 😦
I have that to do too 🤐
@@MsModeller oh no! It’s AWFUL 😢
Model kits and cats a very bad mix
But an easy way to clear the stash 😂🙃
Airfix used to be number one but now they are crap... I'll never buy airfix again!
I’ve just got back into the hobby, I’ve bought a few of the latest Airfix kits, 1/48 Chipmunk, 1/72 Hawker Typhoon and a 1/48 Spitfire, I can’t fault those kits, they’re far superior in quality and detail than I remember from being a 13 year old building them.
@@Jimmythefish577 I built the 1/24 stuka airfix super kit JU87-B2 great kit the 1/24 harrier GR1 was crap kit just a shell! but was heavy.
@@davidcurrie8564I’m looking forward to the 1/24 Hurricane, not sure how well it’ll turn out, I might build a few others before attempting that big ol beastie. I’ve not built a kit in probably 35 years, lots of new things to learn, like airbrushing!
@@Jimmythefish577 I Built that one years ago not a bad kit but was one of airfix's super kits rubber moulded tires full cockpit etc dunno what they are like now? try the 1/24 Trumpeter kits they are marvellous!
Their vintage releases are the same quality (just a bit more tidied) as they were. But Airfix are very transparent about what are old kits and what are new kits. Their newest releases are by far some of the best on the market!
