    Got me one and I say honestly it’s by far the best Taurus pistol out there and it’s got a good trigger and a much more solid fit and feel than other models. Glad I ordered one.

    The TS9 has been available here in the Philippines since 2019, initially selected as the official duty sidearm of the Philippine National Police before it later became available in the local civilian market. The manual trigger safety can indeed be quite stiff out of the box, but it works just fine after activating it a few times.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've felt the Bubits safety on the BB6 and Canik TP9, this appeara to be just a piece of filler plastic and not an actual safety

      @@GBGuns I think the manual safety on your gun is defective, you should talk to the vendor about it. Or not, since it's just a redundancy.

    Ts9 in Brazil is the go entry for us Brazilian in the IPSC/shooting sport, and the g2c got very popular due the price and size for concealed carry (only option for civilians). Great all around out of the box. For optics, most of the times we change the back sights for a sight plate for it.

    Thank you! Great review! READ THIS PLEASE, SEE BELOW REGARDING YOUR MANUAL SAFETY. I have yet to read your article on this pistol. Mine did come with a manual. I believe your pistol should have as well. The fact that your pistol has a scratch and is missing the manual shows your pistol had been out of the box and handled a bit for some reason. The gap under your "safety" indicates handling as well. See the following.
    The ambidextrous slide stop/release and the manual safety are optional. My pistol is identical to yours. If you look at the tag on your box (there should be a tag), it will say "NON-MAN SAFETY". That's a polymer insert to cover the space where the safety would go. I spoke to Taurus and was told they aren't currently making any with the manual safety. AFAIK all the pistols that came to the US have no manual safety and have the ambi slide stop/release. I have seen a few of these blank inserts slightly bent, with a gap underneath like yours, probably from users trying to operate the safety. I RECOMMEND NOT TRYING TO FORCE IT AS YOU COULD FURTHER BEND IT OR MAYBE EVEN BREAK IT.
    The TS-9 is much more like the BB6 than it is like the Kimber. The TS-9 shares the modular striker assembly design with the BB6, as you demonstrated, while the Kimber uses a more common design similar to Glock et al, with a striker riding in a machined channel within the slide. Any pistol that has this was touched by Bubits design. If the Walther has it as you said, the patent was likely licensed from Bubits. As I understand it, the design allows the machining of the slide to be simplified. It can be done with a single type of milling machine instead of two or more types.
    The indent on the rear cover is the same as the BB6. Depress it with a punch to remove the cover and pull out the striker module. This is when you will realize that this pistol is almost identical to the BB6 in design and features if you take the BB6 slide apart as well. I have a video from Bubits himself showing exactly how that comes apart on the BB6 as well as explaining the design benefits. Yes, Bubits did intend to have no open space under that rear cover, like the BB6. Yes, it is intended to keep crud out. You will notice that there are no open slots on the bottom edge of the slide all the way around it. This is done with the same intention. I have a video of him talking about that as well.
    Incidentally I dry fired the heck out of mine for days before shooting it. The trigger definitely benefitted immensely from this, so my trigger was much better by the time I took the pistol to the range.
    Thank you again for the wonderful review. Your work is excellent and well appreciated.

      The safety delete kinda reminds me of the original Steyr M9, with the non-safety version still retaining quite a bit evidence of the safety. Bubits does seem to have a thing for trigger blocking safeties.

    The hole in the slide plate is where the pin is accessed to remove the slide plate. That pin has the striker spring riding on it! Push in the pin and remove the plate. Caution that pin is under pressure! Also according to Taurus the trigger safety has been made in operable in USA. Probably because someone would do something stupid and get hurt and want to sue!

    Another advantage of the side ejection port: would help keep crud off an optic, and virtually guarantee brass wouldn't impact the front lense, too.
    Speaking of which, if they see fit to offer a TORO version of this, I may get more interested in it.

    • @JD-tn5lz
      @JD-tn5lz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have one firearm with a side ejection port. It is NOT a benefit.
      It is ever so slightly (maybe one in a thousand) more prone to stovepipe than any of my other firearms and because it does that to the side, it doesn't immediately block the front sight post...so it's just that extra half moment to see and clear.
      No, small ejection port and side ejection is a bad bad bad idea.

    It seems like the right side slide lock was sticking way up during most of the review. I saw that inserting the mag made even the left side slide lock lift a little but it was still pretty much in line with the slide stop cutout, but the right side looked like it was lifted. The takedown is weird…seems like you need an extra hand. It’s different and good to see Taurus bring new (kind of) guns to market…but the QC doesn’t seem as good as the US made Taurus stuff, maybe? Guess it’s a sample size of 1.

      "Initially exclusively accessible to international military and law enforcement clientele, the Taurus TS9 successfully surpassed the demanding NATO testing protocols. It stands as the preferred pistol for Brazil's most elite special operations units and is in service with law enforcement and military groups globally." - Hook & Barrel Magazine
      There won't be many available here in the US anyway. These are over production pistols. I agree after seeing all the features that its not a pistol I would want either. But it is interesting and innovative.

    Aqui no Brasil.

Oh, just an FYI, according to the latest issue of COMBAT HANDGUNS Tisas is releasing another budget 2011(ish) model. Part of their Night Stalker series, this one lists for $960. CH seemed to like it, but then again, they seem to like everything. (Thank God for TH-cam!)

    NO manual!!! HAHAHAHA!!! Taurus being Taurus! My 92 came without the loader (I don't care, I don't like them). The ejection port looks like "For range only, don't buy this crap!". I fired one on two ocasions, not bad, but I don't want it.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What's wrong with the ejection port?

    • @garetz2011
      @garetz2011 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GBGuns it's too small, if something goes wrong while feeding it's too hard to insert a finger there. In my first session with a TS9, january 2021, I had two feeding problems. With my G2C I also had two failures to feed but was much easier to solve them due to the large port.
      I have a problem with reliability, maybe that's why I have a five shot 38 as my primary gun (jacketed bullets only, since lead between barrel and cylinder can jam the gun - I have a second 38 revolver with misalignment problems and that gun jams with soft lead bullets, I will fix this 34 yrars old problem as soon as possible).
      I read somewhere that one of the firrst modifications on the 1911 prototype was a port enlargement to improve ejection. I don't have reasons to doubt.
      I have a PT92 and that gun has no port. Taurus advertised the small port as an advantage to prevent lint and sand from entering. Since they make the 92... wich one is the crappy one? Large or small?
      As a brazilian, I don't trust anything from taurus.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can be reassured that this gun was not designed by Taurus, it's one of Bubits' designs and he's a well-established and accomplished engineer having designed for Walther, Caracal, Steyr, Glock, and others. This is also a completely different action type than a 1911 or a Beretta 92 so the energy required to operate efficiently is different.

    • @garetz2011
      @garetz2011 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GBGuns I know, when TS9s became popular in Brazil many shooters posted links to BB Tech reviews. Wilhelm Bubits designed a pistol with a tiny ejection port... ok, but I don't want one. There is video of Bubits calling his action "Bubits action". I like the hollow back portion on the slide with an insert with smaller parts, but I don't care for the action. There is a lot of guns with barrels going up and down, they are a little bit boring. I was looking for a grand power with rotating barrel (you reviewed many of them) but the commies ruined shooting sports here and I decided to buy the cheapest good gun available: taurus pt92.
      I got my g2c on a prize draw, the gun is good, but I didn't want it too. Another gun for our government to steal.

    Good video but an easy NO on this one. Seems that Taurus stepped back into their old habit of slopping a pistol together. That's too bad because it seemed like they had turned a corner. Plus it's a 9mm, so it's only a plinking round as far as I'm concerned.
    Other thing, and call me a pedant. It's a big issue for me.
    Not that it happens often, but I shoot alot and I shoot in adverse conditions in rural Alaska.
    The one other firearm that I own that has an abbreviated side ejection port has a serious issue with unreliable ejection, like, maybe one out of a thousand. Not only does it seem to occur more frequently because of the small port, the fact that the brass isn't right there blocking my view of the front sight slows down the clearance.
    Again, if one out of a thousand (or maybe less) is okay with a shooter, then GTG for him or her. Just that it's ever so slightly slower to clear is significant to me.
    Good video, thanks for dealing with that pistole. Hopefully the workmanship on this one is a one-off and Taurus isn't backsliding.

      @JD-tn5lz Once again I disagree since this pistol has been out long before Taurus got new management in the US. Nor is this pistol a Taurus USA made pistol. It is a Taurus Brazilian made pistol. Stop repeating this because its false.
