Very nice! Brings back many memories ! My brother and I both got brand new 1981 VW's ! he got a red Scirocco S and I got a Yellow Rabbit L 2door ! His car was sweet ! Black and white hounds tooth fabric seats...mine were 100 percent naugahyde ! LOL
Imagine doing the same in a garden, at summer... without garage and proper tools. I had to do it + polished intake & exhaust channels last summer on my Golf Mk3. :( I know it sounds weird, but the car works like a charm since then.
Just a thought here.. Taking the dye off the seat is one thing but getting concentricity is another. I'm sure it'll seat when ran but maybe some lapping would have helped.
to benefit from a larger valve you have to cut the seat opening a bit more than a 45 degree on it usually this is done by a serdi machine I don't know those are still around since the new CNC machines

Allegedly aligned a corner in a saddle. Did you fix the angle on the valve? Honestly, I have never seen any sense in all these "corners" of the saddle. I always just grind the valve and everything works perfectly perfectly.
You don't want to sink the valve in the head. Only remove what you need to get all the pitting and imperfections off the seat. The shims should be adjusted to compensate for the resurfaced seat.
That head dont need bigest Valves. Just a Port of few hours. You need better cams, big turbo, inyectors, Exhaust manifold etc.. There u have the hidden hp u looking for and not on the valves
Really, Why not Vaseline??? It's petroleum jelly. I would rather have Vaseline on my hands and feller gauges than "engine lube." I will prime the motor with a drill before I first fire it up. I used assembly lube on the lobes after I put the head on the block.
I ported the head, opened up the throat and bowls. I guess I could have did video of the porting. There is a ton of port and polish videos on here. I wanted to focus on the valves.
I have the same engine on my VW Gol GTi (Not Golf), you can check my channel to see it! its a 2.0L whith 82,5mm diameter and 92,8mm stroke (i dunno if its that the word). 33mm intake and 40mm exaust in the head. Youre changing the original injection to go carburator?
Hold what? I have very good compression and my cotact surface is on point exactly at speck. Can you give me a good reason not to use Vaseline (petroleum jelly)?

Yes...you need the Serdi to bore the seat to .9 of the new oversize intake valve. Go to .85 on the exhaust side when using an oversize exhaust valve.

Nice job but port job is necessary in this head if you want more power is good head i use 41mm x 35mm with small guides and port polish

Too wide contact surface... It won't hold very much.
And dont use Vaseline to install camshafts, use engine assembly lube

Yes, I put a 1.8 jh head on a 2.0 block to replace the 1.5 I had in my 1975 Scirocco. The plan is to go turbo.
what size valves were installed?
41mm intake and 34mm exhaust. One millimeter over. The stems are 7mm and taper down to 6.5. Stock was 40mm 30mm with 8mm stems.
Stock was 40mm intake 33mm exhaust.
