A combination convection and microwave oven can make short work of jacket potatoes and those half-chickens as both also arrive pre-cooked and bagged."
You get what you pay for, they employ cooks (very little training) not chefs and microwaves do most of it. A family member went for a job as a waitress and was asked if she knew what a plate of carrots was! They offered her a job as a "chef" and that is 100% true. Defrost, heat up and plate. Cooking was frying an egg and grilling meat. Hopefully its changed now but I doubt it as margins are tight and every penny counts so cheapest way possible will always win.
That looked lovely. Good portion for a decent price, and so good to see places like this are still going instead of run of the mill coffee and light snack places.
Absolutely classic takes me back to my 20,s when I could have worked 7 days a week made love all weekend and had that for a breakfast starter ,nice proper hangover tea.
Absolute 10 out of 10 - transport cafes are always good value and great quality grub, otherwise the drivers just stop at a better cafe. So, if they're busy, you know they're good.

Hiya Lee! As I mentioned on the Tesco Vlog! Sainsburys used to make a great breakfast. They were expensive but that they don’t serve them anymore. The most you can get is a bap of some sort only. Ridiculous when they need to feed shoppers if needs be. Now that’s a brekkie butty. Much better to help the small businesses out I think! Have a safe trip to USA 👍🏻
We called in that Sainsbury's cafe once with the intention of having something to eat, but there was absolutely nothing they sold that we fancied, it was crap. Just had a coffee and left. I'll bet you were glad that the Sainsbury's was crap, Lee, or you might not have visted Bobbers Mill. Transport cafe's are the best. The food in this cafe looked great, and at reasonable prices, and breakfasts with tinned tomatoes, perfect. I'd visit this place, no question. I personally couldn't have tackled that door stop/step, far too much for me, but it looked amazing. 10/10 for me, just by looking at it.
I always say: If you see a cafe that is frequented by bikers and truckers you know you are going to get good, basic food and lots of it. My dad would have loved that sandwich as we always joked that his idea of a sandwich was to cut the loaf in half, butter it and add the filling.

I live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire where the local Sainsburys cafe still does the full English breakfast. I visited the Worksop one last week and was surprised to find they no longer did it, and the menu was the same as the 2 stores featured on this video
Perhaps you can try out something else off the menu, by the time you get back they might be serving Turkey roast dinners. Hope your USA trip goes well and look forward to the vlogs.
What a massive doorstep breakfast sandwich. Amazing pricing for all the menu. It's something the bread is so fresh, but I would have it toasted otherwise its too sloppy. Truly excellent place to eat. 10 for me. You Can't beat a transport cafe. Stay safe and enjoy your break!!

That looks the business. These little transport cafés nearly always do wholesome cheap and tasty because word gets round the travelling community and they go bust if they don’t match up. Same with the street hot dog, coffee and bagel stands in New York - if it ain’t good, it closes quickly.

Up here in Newcastle we used to get a half stottycake breakfast it was huge and have everything in it bacon egg tomato mushrooms sausage beans it was a hear attack in both hands

Where they hollowed out a large unsliced loaf, and stuffed it full of everything you'd find on a Full English Breakfast... Now that was an extremely large Breakfast!... There's also a cafe, roughly about seven miles across town from where i live, they make large B.E.S.T. Sandwiches...(Bacon... Egg... Sausage... Tomatoes) It's been many years since i last visited, as I've moved away from the area altogether... In the aftermath of several Lockdowns, i honestly don't know if they're still in business or not... But when i used to go there... they did serve everything on a Giant Soft Breadcake... that was almost the size of a Dinner Plate, it was huge!... Bacon x 4 Eggs x 4 Sausages x 4 and a thick layer of Chopped Tinned Tomatoes... They also offered customers the option to add extra items too... Like Mushrooms... Hash Browns... Black Pudding... Baked Beans... etc... So for an extra cost to add these other items... It would be just like having a Full English Breakfast served in a Giant Soft Breadcake...😆 But i'm very intrigued by that "Spreadable Sausage Meat", that you showed us on your Doorstep Breakfast Sandwich Lee... I know around the Christmas Holiday Season, some supermarkets, sell delicious... Pork, Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls, which can remain on the softer side, even after cooking... Was the Spreadable Sausage Meat anything like that Lee?... And the fact that this was all freshly made, with decent quality produce, and at a great price too... Excellent place that, singing waiters and all and big meals. Went there in 2016 for lunch when we were in NYC for a couple of nights on cruise ship Aurora from Southampton.

I take my brother to our local Sainsbury's cafe every week. Have done for years as with him having special needs the cafe is a large, open atmosphere and is usually quiet. Since they reopened post-lockdown, this is all they have become. No longer is the large kitchen used to prepare anything. The staff are never in the kitchen now. It is a total wasted space. Just these farty little sandwiches (same ones you can get on the main floor as part of a meal deal, just different packaging) and bacon barms they probably get delivered off the lorry pre-packed and thrown into a microwave upon purchase. Easy work I suppose. Funnily enough I was in there last Saturday and wondered whether you'd attempt a full English at one of their stores not knowing they'd changed it all. Now I see this video uploaded. Perhaps I should've pre-warned you 😂 Yes Sainsbury's very disappointing. But omg that breakfast sandwich! 🥪

When I worked from our office in Bilborough as a salesman, all the sales lads used to meet up there for brekkie.The saus and tom door steps were to die for. Mill Cafe is a hidden gem. Must go back again and take the mrs there. When you get to Vegas, get a local cabbie to take you to a diner the cabbies use. We did that when we were there and that is where the locals eat - just like Mill Cafe.Enjoy Nevada meduck. Score 11 out of 10

Chef Mike (Mike for Microwave, lol) is quite busy in some of those kitchens, lol. They might have giant air fryer/ovens these days as well.

That looked fantastic and everything well cooked nothing anaemic which you get at some places who don't cook bacon etc enough ... a good idea with the sausage meat... l thought it was stuffing or bread sauce lol

When I worked from our office in Bilborough as a salesman, all the sales lads used to meet up there for brekkie.The saus and tom door steps were to die for. Mill Cafe is a hidden gem. Must go back again and take the mrs there. When you get to Vegas, get a local cabbie to take you to a diner the cabbies use. We did that when we were there and that is where the locals eat - just like Mill Cafe.Enjoy Nevada meduck. Score 11 out of 10
