Hi Paul and Phil, Wow!! this is great watching two top train personalities here on one video. Growing up in Sydney, I was well into both trams and trains. My dad took me on the city circle underground to my request several times. I virtually got to know just about every inch of it. I always loved going across the Sydney Harbour Bridge both by train and tram. I was very sorry to see the Sydney trams all eventually go, though I wasn't able to attend the last day of them running in 1961, due to recovering from being in hospital for selective surgery around that time. My first visit to Melbourne was with my dad on holiday in early 1967. At the time, we rode many of the Melbourne trams as well as traveling on the trams in Ballarat and Bendigo. Sadly my dad passed away in early 1978. Later, after getting married, my wife and I finally moved to Melbourne in June 1981 and we have been here ever since. Sydney has changed so much since 1981. Many parts I see now on video, I can barely recognise. Anyway, take care and all the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your memories of Sydney. Yes it's very different now. I'm so pleased that Melbourne kept its trams! It's always a joy to take a ride on a tram when I'm in Melbourne.
So, Paul and Phil, now I've watched both of your videos, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. I know it's not a railway-related question, Paul, but I was surprised that you didn't ask Phil about his day job as a landscape gardener. I would've been nice to know more about the non-railway Phil. Keep up the good work, Paul.
Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed both our videos. Yes that would have been a great question! Perhaps another time. And if you're interested, my day job is a System Trainer, but I do this part-time now. Yes will do!
Hi Paul. I watched Phil's interview of you last night and loved it! Your interview of Phil has been equally interesting and informative .It was great to put faces to those behind the camera. Keep vlogging!
Thanks for this extra chat with you too. I already watched Phil's version. Well done. I would love to get on a mailing list for notification of special days etc. My situation is a bit different as I don''t drive and a carer goes with me and "Wally," my walker everywhere these days. Thanks again hope I meet you two someday. You have both given me more ideas for my more meagre, unprofessional ""Vlogging" efforts.
Glad you enjoyed it Geoff. Let me know on Messenger or email where you live in Sydney, and perhaps I can meet you locally one day. in the meantime, keep Vlogging and you'll find that each video is slightly better than the last one!
Thank you both of you. I caught up a lot with the network development that I missed out last 20 years of not catching the train. Now I have gone back and using public transport just to soak in the experience.
@@TransportVlog Going back to use the train is like catching up with a long lost friend. Before getting a driver's licence, train was my main mode of transport. There have been many network changes. For example trains to Liverpool via Granville used to come from the North Shore and depart from platform 18. Liverpool via Regents Park was a regular service from 19. There was the Bankstown Circle etc.
I very much enjoyed this Paul! This video reminds me of when I first found your channel, you were at around 400-500 subscribers and it’s just incredible to see how you’ve grown to 10,000 now. I hope to see more like this in the future. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! I found this video which was when I'd reached 100 subscribers and I was excited then! - th-cam.com/video/fmfu-ddv5uY/w-d-xo.html. Maybe I could do a similar chat with you in the future? - It would be lovely to talk about your guard for the day experience! If that interests you, do get in touch.
@@TransportVlog Yeah, we could potentially do that sometime in the future. I will have a think about it, maybe when I’m a little more known in the “Sydney train fan community” we could do something like that. I will reach out soon. 😊
27:17 *WITNESS!* Anyways, I really enjoyed this interview with you and Phil, Paul! Got to learn so much and have a few laughs too! It’s so refreshing to have something like this in the Sydney Trains community! I’d love to see some more interviews from other people in the Sydney Trains community too!
Hi Matthew! Well remembered! I vaguely remembered us peering through into the Chalmers Street lower concourse through a gap in the fencing! And glad you enjoyed this video. Yes definitely planning to do more collabs. Sharath @buildingbeautifully is likely to be next!
@@TransportVlog If you’re still thinking of people to collab with, and feel comfortable doing it. I’d be happy to do something with you! Something like this would be wonderful as we need more positivity like this in the community!
Great video paul with Sydney trains vlogs that is Phil.& Sydney rail has become so popular in Sydney that transport enthusiasts want to know or learn about our transport systems that they come watch your channel & Sydney trains vlogs to know what our trains/buses and other transports is really like & to get some insight into the changes into the rail network & other things transport related.& so paul I like to say well done for doing a wonderful video once again.& shout out to Sydney trains vlogs for a good video that he's done on his channel too it is amazing.
Hi Paul and Phil. I think this is a great idea because so many young people have been inspired by Phil but have never seen him. We often watch videos and admire the people who have produced them but don't know the "real" person behind the camera. Great collaboration 👌
Thanks John. Phil does appear on camera every now and again in his videos, and that was how I recognised him when we met at Central Walk last year. I agree its great to see the person behind the camera, which is why you always see a little bit of me in each of my videos. But it does come with challenges, and it does take a lot more time, and sometimes its too noisy or windy!

I think I was at the Castle hill preview with Phil. I drove over and then after the preview we went out to Kellyville to check out the metro's travelling on the elevated line.
Hi Paul, I thing this was great idea of both yours do this video but I thing you should do interview Ranger82, Tsets Transport, Building Beautifully and see what kind they have in the TH-cam channel
Yes already in touch with Sharath at Building Beautifully and Elliot reached out to me today, so yes, these collabs will happen! I haven't met Chris yet, although we do chat on email.
Hi Paul, I heard the k sets and v sets are retiring today, and h sets will be running k set services is that true? If not could you do a video filming k sets in various locations or something or a video to farewell to k sets? Thanks
The K sets and V sets will be going, but not just yet! This will happen once the NIF / Mariyung trains are in service, the H sets will then be transferred to Sydney Trains and this will allow the K sets to be withdrawn. The lines that the H sets will run on is undecided as yet, but I'm hoping it will be the T1 services or perhaps the T4. We'll have to wait and see!
