      Yeah i was originally supplied with shocks that were too long. I had to drive to brisbane for them to destroke them.
      I havent broke one since. Just this time the superpro swaybar link stripped again. And tore the boot all the way around.
      I prefer to just put a whole CV in it and be done with it.
      Im removing the swaybar from the front once again.

    Before you put the cap back on over the cv, do you need to put in any grease ?

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not really Jordan, a little on the spline just to stop corrosion. or even anti seize. the wheel bearings are sealed units. But on the back side make sure you do put some grease where the seal is on the CV :) Happy Days

  • @Land_Cruiser_40
    @Land_Cruiser_40 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    10:22 You don't change the inner seal? You don't even clean the seal? Won't that keep leaking oil there?

      it will leak if you get dirt in there, it will not leak if it's clean or just has oil on it.

    Hey mate what size tyre you got ?

  • @pistolpeds
    @pistolpeds 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How did you lock the rotor to crack the hub nut if the cv let go ? Did you have someone to stand on the foot brake ? Why did you not crack the hub nut when the tyre was on the ground ?

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah doing it on the ground is definitely ideal. Just a stuff up on my behalf really.
      But you can put a strong screwdriver down ontop of the caliper. Into the brake disc vents. That will lock it solid in one direction. Or have someone on the brake like you said 👍🏼

    Lock center diff, and it's gonna drive without a darn front CV.. eventually remove the other.

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      florin baiduc yes very true! But you must install both ends of the CV!
      One to plug the Diff oil.
      Then other to hold the wheel on and wheel bearing together.
      You can remove the actual shaft by cutting the boots and dissasembling it! :)
      The shaft doesnt matter if its taken out, cut it in half if you have to.

      Umm Kapsars i think. I havent properly sheared one yet. But i did destroy the inner joint completely on a genuine one.

      Aaron Offroader do you have a diff drop. I have changed 2on my sons hilux . Both times on a steep track and using the winch to car like you explained, its a great idea. I also cut some dead tree as a jack stand. But not everyone has a chain saw. But you just gave me an idea on why his are breaking, maybe his shocks are overtraveling. Cheers and great video mate👍

  • @hoaniwitana9759

    If having to drive home with removed cv....: You will have to remove remove other cv. Ill explain why.
    To move off with missing cv you need to engage diff lock. Hence power will be going to front and rear differential. As the diff is now missing one side connection to ground it'll will be transmitting your full engines rpm through the satelite gears to the missing cv side! You will burn out your satelite gears or/and shims etc.
    Hence forth, solutution to running with missing cv is as follows.
    1) Remove broken cv. Engage front difflock. Run vehicle without a centre difflock home. Plug hole in side of diff. Note if you have twin lockers you will need to switch your piping at the solenoids as arbs need rear locker on before front is engaged???
    2) remove both cvs and run home with centre difflock engaged. I imagine you would need to stop oil from coming out of the diff. Not sure how thats going to happen.
    3) remove cv and front.propshaft. engage centre diff lock.
    4)if having to travel home with missing cv its best to remove both cvs ad remove front prop. Run vehicle with centre diff lock engage.
    That way the front diff will be not turning. With some rags on the sides you shouldnt loose much oil or dirt entering diff...
    I think the main problem heading home without a cv in the diff is you destrying the diff and oil coming out. You need a solution to that. Reason for removing cv is it maybe super exploded or snapped .
    Best solution in my opinion is learn what how to swap your cvs in the field or run solid axle front end 4wd.

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matt Luszczak hey man. I agree with most of this but the most important part has been missed.
      If you drive without the outer end of the CV in your wheel bearing will pull out of the housing and you will loose a wheel and probably crash. So if you have one busted CV ild rather risk the Diff Damage or take out the front driveshaft. What you do is cut the cv boots off the broken CV dissasembe it taking the middle shaft out of the CV leaving you with 2 seperate ends. Pull everything out of each end then install the ends back into the vehicle. One clips into the diff and stops any oil or contamination issues. And the other outer one holds the wheel bearing together. Assembly as normal (just with no Shaft or inner Bearings of CV) off you go safely 👍🏼
