I shaved 9 days ago with electric clippers, so it wasn't a close shave. Today I bought the S9000 Prestige and shaved my 9+ day beard no problem at all. I was totally stunned by how good this shaver is. Love it!!!
Still the best, even today. The new prestige is not as good as this older one. Recommend to buy this one as it is still available in some stores. It beats out the new one. The square head shapes does not work as well as the round heads as well. To me the new norelco is a bit of a step backwards. Buy this one in this video. To get the closest shave , 1-don’t shave fast. To many of these videos i see them flying across there face with there shavers. Slow it down to give the blades time to cut. 2-go over your whole face to about 90-95% done. 3-important step. Flip open the head and tap out all the hair. Leaving it full will keep you from getting really close shave. Then finish. I finally figured this out and now my really old norelco gets closer shave then my Panasonic foil shaver…
@jim jr I have the upgraded arc5 and thinking if returning it for a norelco 9000 prestige. I used to have a norelco about 16 years ago and it did pretty good. Probably better than the arc 5, I think but don't remember. Seemed it did better. What's your thought? Which one you talking about?
Even before you was going to to say the shaver did a better job, it was evident immediately. The razor side didn’t shave as close to the skin. The shaver side looked immaculate and smooth all over. I don’t shave as I trim to keep a beard, but that is a top quality shaver. Great review
I started using the Philips One as a beard trimmer a few years back and now use it as a shaver and I'm quite impressed by it. I always thought that shavers were always going to be inadequate to a razor but looks like the 9000 series surpasses them.
I have always use Philips as they are the best but unfortunately the replacement shaver heads are exorbitant price to force people to buy a new shaver instead after a few years.
Thankyou. That seems like a close shave which is amazing. The one thing I would say is if you have a garbage can accessible, dump the hair in their 1st.
I am using Philip's S 9000 Prestige. I love the experience. I am allergic to shaving gels and foams and had to shift to electric shaver. No regrets at all.
Thanks guys! At my dermatologist's recommendation I am switching to an electric razor from a safety blade razor. He recommended one of the lower priced Philips Norelco shavers (under $100) but I decided to do some research and have ordered the one you recommended. Nice to see someone with a heavy beard (like mine) post such an informative and interesting review! Thanks!

Just a normal 3 series Philips shaver does a very good job too. It's got 5D and an amazing battery life. I think I got mine for under 5k much better than 85k .
SECRET: I just went to a shop to buy Shaving Head Replacement to my Philips series 7000, and they asked me to pay 90 AUD (Australian Dollars), all the device brand new cost 148 AUD, so I say to my self it's better of to buy a new device, so I looked on the best device Philips series S9000 which cost 499AUD, and this is the best shaving results, but I noticed that the Shaving head of S9000 fit exactly the Philips series 7000 and the Shaving Head Replacement to my Philips series S9000 cost just 10AUD more, so I bought this Shaving Head Replacement S9000 put it on my old Philips series 7000 and it's working the best, So I save almost 400AUD.
S9000 has 3 rotation speed mode as you show. If you compare the rotation speed of s9031 and s9000 prestige. What is the equvalent of s9031 speed on s9170. Does s9031 single mode operate at slow modarate or fast mode compared to 9170?
very nice review!! earned my like. from that shaver what i dont like is the edge though, its difficult to aim any edges because its perimeter border is too thick
It was either the original 9000 or the 9000 prestige which was £100 more on Amazon But I decided to go with original 9000 as it was cheaper and not much different to be honest I paid £230 which is still a lot for a shaver! to be honest so will have to see if it’s worth it
As a long time user of electric razors you never need to replace the blades if you don´t use water. Exposure to water and shaving cream is the reason regular blades gets dull and electric shaver manufacturers know this, thats why they want us all to clean it with water and use it wet. I only blow out the stubble of my electric razor and it runs just fine.
@@MrFooChops still working good, and still using the same one now, but i probably would need new blades, battery is still holding good too, it has wireless charger, it was not cheap, but i think well worth it, in the end i think is cheaper than razor blades, i like the electric shavers anyway.
I use the 9000 normal one, but probably because i got a strong beard, he never shaves me close, also a proper razor would shave you much closer then any electric shaver, also, after you clean your 9000 and you don`t leave it dry it will smell really bad...
Excellent review. One question I had though is, I'm thinking of getting this shaver and have downloaded the user manual. And in it it says that it is recommended you perform a thorough clean of this shaver at least once a month which involves taking each of the individual cutters and components off of the shaving head to clean it, and then putting it back together. Do you NEED to do that, or can you just get away with cleaning it like you did in this review?
hey this comment seems a bit late as the video is old but i am thinking of getting this shaver. my beard isnt very dense and grows slightly below average. however due to sensitive skin all razors (double edge and cartridge) end up failing me no matter how much i prepare my skin for it. my question is, would this be a good choice to use everyday? or alternative days?
Always nice to see comments on older videos 😉 this can definitely be used every (alternative) day but my question is will there be enough growth for it to ‘lift & cut’ and also considering your sensitive skin that you won’t be irritating it before it heals. I’d suggest taking a look at this video too before you make your decision: th-cam.com/video/fEcSg7K4lSw/w-d-xo.html

Bought this Norelco from Offer Up Open Box Brand New, but I noticed at home that one of the heads mini arrows or those like slim metal sticks that blocks the knives from cutting you is broken so the gap is a little bit bigger than the original gap from each arrow.. I used it and I did not cut myself but I'm not sure if I better buy a new head. Help.
What's the difference between this and the earlier 9000 shavers? Seems like they use the same head and blades on every model? I have the s9711 is it worth "upgrading"?
We haven't tested that one yet. But the main difference seems to be wireless charging. So if you're happy with your current model, we don't see a reason to upgrade.
You should have compared it to the regular Norelco triple head with new blades to see if there was any difference. Who cares what a razor will do....most people here are gonna be electric shaver users. I have the 9900 Pro, and I don't see any improvement in shave quality over my old Norelco that doesn't have to be washed out and dried after each use. I never would have bought it if I'd Known that it was gonna be a pain in the ass to clean!
hello guys, i have one doubt, i am from Brazil and recently watched your video about norelco, as i would have to import this product would be very expensive, here we have the philips aquatouch s5050 version, the cut of both machines are the same or the norelco s9000 would give a better cut?, the diference in price and is only about the technology on the charger ?
In my opinion, a Gillette Mach Three, is not a TRADITIONAL razor. It is a CONTEMPORARY cartridge type disposable razor. A better example example of a Traditional razor would have been any DE(and I mean contemporary model found on the shelf worldwide) razor that uses a single blade. There is a considerable difference in the quality of the shave between the Disposable and DE, Point being, a comparison between the Philips Norelco and a DE would have been a better challenge. It would have been a battle between Old & New, Inexpensive & Expensive, Preparation vs No Preparation. Just my 2 cents. A Note about ingrown hairskk
Point noted about traditional razor being the straight razor. But we intended this video to be for the masses since the market is dominated by electric shavers and multi-blade wet razors.
Rygaros , i’m Not agree with you ! I use for 35 years always a Braun shaver. But The noise is much more louder than from a Philips shaver. It hurt My ears 😏 And The Braun shaver takes much longer to shave Off my beard. The last 2 years i use a Philips shaver and its so much better than a Braun shaver. Its shave quicker and more silenty 👍😃 I never going back anymore to a Braun shaver
Rygaros , but The sound hurt My ears so bad 😏 That’s why I never wanna buy a Braun shaver anymore ! Who cares when the engine is stronger and goes well a year longer, if It hurt Youre ears so much and take longer to shave yourself. I rader buy a second New Philips shaver.
Rygaros , indeed The noise from The Braun engine shaver is very loud 👎😏 much to loud ! When you shave close to The area at you ears It feels oncomfortabel. The Philips shaver engine is much more silence 👍😃 and comfortabel 👍😃 I wish I could hear you The difference ! Go to a Store and find Out yourself 🤗
Depens what razor you used if you used one of those gillette 5 blade or 3 blade its a shit shave.. the best shave you will get is with a safety razor and a good sharp razor in it.. mach3 is so bad its unbelievable.. here in india you get good and great safety razors in a very reasonable price.. i was in netherlands for some months recently and before that in england got a couple of years.. they just did not have a safety razor and you can only buy the expensive ones which is well not worth it and you dont get it in stores.. so try the safety razor and see how close a shave you can get .. in india its probably $1 and that too the gillette original one..
Agreed that safety razors give a closer shave and cheaper to own as well. However the majority of shavers still use cartridge based ones, hence the reason it was used in this comparison. Which safety razor model do you use?
I have a pretty old Philips shaver, the kind James Bond used once, but not wireless. :D 8845. Around 17 years old, but in principle pretty much the same. There's a grill, and a spinning blades underneath. Maybe new heads are so thin that the blades can cut pretty close to the skin, but I sincerely doubt 9000 series can compare to the razor. The 8845 sure can't, and its grill is super thin. You didn't shave in the opposite direction after the first pass down the hair. I have never heard someone getting an ingrown hair by doing that, nor have I experienced it in my let's say 15 years of shaving. And that made it an unfair comparison because this is the way one shaves with a razor. I have pretty much the same density beard as you. To add one more point, multiple passes on the neck with the shaver REALLY irritate my skin, and in addition the shaver doesn't shave as good as a razor so you have to use it every day and the irritation is so bad, this is just not viable. That's why I barely ever used it in these 17 years. And this one is way too expensive to try.
Stupid that they changed from the pop up trimmer on the back of the shaver to having to change the entire head to have a trimmer. Seems like a complete backwards move in progress.
buy this good shaver and then you get major problems with getting some parts for shaving head. There is no blades replacement. got this for 450EUR and now cant get simple blades... :( this is horrible, no good abut philips after sales!
It is cheaper to buy Philips because of you buy Fusion 5 on sale l, it is 60€ for 18 blades which is aroundv 3 months for me. Eaven if i buy 2 bottlles of fome per month i Save 20 € a year.

Rygaros , i’m Not agree with you !
I use for 35 years always a Braun shaver.
But The noise is much more louder than from a Philips shaver.
It hurt My ears 😏
And The Braun shaver takes much longer to shave Off my beard.
The last 2 years i use a Philips shaver and its so much better than a Braun shaver.
Its shave quicker and more silenty 👍😃
I never going back anymore to a Braun shaver
@@fairyland125 it sounds more cause the braun engine is much stronger
Rygaros , but The sound hurt My ears so bad 😏
That’s why I never wanna buy a Braun shaver anymore !
Who cares when the engine is stronger and goes well a year longer, if It hurt Youre ears so much and take longer to shave yourself.
I rader buy a second New Philips shaver.
@@fairyland125 lol hurt your ears...come on man
Rygaros , indeed The noise from The Braun engine shaver is very loud 👎😏 much to loud !
When you shave close to The area at you ears It feels oncomfortabel.
The Philips shaver engine is much more silence 👍😃 and comfortabel 👍😃

Tanks for the info, I'm from barcelona I don't know if we can win
Replacing the cutting heads in my 6000 was such a nightmare I will never buy a Phillips/Norelco product again. Do not buy this razor!
Did I win???
And this one is way too expensive to try.
useful video thanks
Damm same mistake as your other video, Take in the feedback guys!!
DJ_Italian You’re the first one giving this feedback. Again - what headphones, speakers are you using?
Stupid that they changed from the pop up trimmer on the back of the shaver to having to change the entire head to have a trimmer. Seems like a complete backwards move in progress.
buy this good shaver and then you get major problems with getting some parts for shaving head. There is no blades replacement. got this for 450EUR and now cant get simple blades... :( this is horrible, no good abut philips after sales!
Braun everyday. Foils shave much closer
Who gives a rip if a razor is a fingerprint magnet??
lol you guys are funny. good vid tho
It is cheaper to buy Philips because of you buy Fusion 5 on sale l, it is 60€ for 18 blades which is aroundv 3 months for me. Eaven if i buy 2 bottlles of fome per month i Save 20 € a year.
