@@Allisillusion-z3f it’s a restricted area, however, they are taking volunteers into the area. What you’re allowed to do is reach out to the “Spokes of Hope” organization and I believe they have instructions on how to register for volunteer work on their site.

I wish that the lumber mills that are below me here in central Mississippi would donate some lumber to all of the people in North Carolina to build new houses and help with the rebuild of the businesses in North Carolina but I guess I’m wishing for a miracle
Wish i was physically able to help there because i would sure already be there. Thank you to you and all the people helping our fellow Americans. That's what this country is and should always be about. Prayers for all. I will be bringing my family up there when it gets back up and running. The best of that town is soon to come. I went there about 10 or 11 days afterward and police were blocking access to the town( believe they still are from some directions) unless you have recognized legitimate business there. You cannot just go in there just to look/ passing through to somewhere else, and to get in the way. Folks that live there do not need that. Having to be doing work....work that they need.
So if its not accessible by car even if you get out of your car and walk around, find a way over the hill in there on foot, someone is going to stop and ask you how you even got here with the road blocked from car, what are you even doing here on foot or bicycle huh?
Not only homes but businesses were also affected!! Good to see some of the merchandise was salvageable but will be some time before customers will be able to return!!😢
Agreed, If they can get the main road rebuilt, they can probably start opening up a bit after utilities are in. The work on the river can go on while Chimney Rock is open. Just a mile back in Lake Lure, the little cafe and the Mexican restaurant are open for business.
Man that old condemend structure must be pretty stout built to take a blow like that and stay in tact. Good job to whoever built it. Water will tear up stuff you would never think it would. There will be more videos however they may not necessarily be in the chimney rock liquor area, but they will be in Western North Carolina and cities like Rutherfordton, Forest city etc …. Basically anywhere else they need help.
We were able to get some of the racks out. I missed the last 30 minutes as I didn't go back after lunch. I don't know if they got more racks out. It would have had to fit through that window and some of them were too big for that.
Not judging you sir but even with more modern construction. If it would been undermined like the other half of it it would have failed too. Just saying. I have been there and it's amazing how the most pretty country takes a beating like that. Prayers for all. Glad too see they love it Enough to rebuild it. If I was healthy enough and had the funds I would be up there looking for a heavy equipment operator job to donate my time to. I just ain't able to do really physical work due to my health. I have a 35 year construction past employment

Get with the lumber mill. Ask them to contact orgs and maybe local road clearers. They have so many trees down. There maybe somewhere that would like to see them taken away to be sawed into lumber they can rebuild with to be donated toward the efforts. They could send a logging truck and loader. Don't disrespect any property or permissions you don't have. It could be a win win in some areas? The longer remnants could be stacked and left to cut for firewood for winter. Avoid areas it could be contaminated.-John's wife

I can see that, the newer side was fortunate. I would expect that they will get all of these buildings inspected for occupancy once they are ready.
