This is so fun! I want to make one now but I'd put some small caster wheels on the bottom and trim to around the base to hide them yet add more decorative impact and put shelves in the middle section on the inside of the frames you built and use this baby for hideaway storage! Anytime furniture can double as storage is an apartment dream. Love your channel!!
Danie Berger may I suggest when it comes to arches and complicated shapes you might want to consider doing a paper cutout and place on top that way you see directly if its the way you want it.. might be a useful tip for the future
Some hideaway drawers would be cool too! Or if the front panels were doors, (with storage inside) but didn't look like doors when closed. So many ideas!
Really nice project but you should have put doors to make it like a cupboard.This piece has a pretty big storage room.Also you could put bigger ornaments to each side to make them handles for the doors.

I would love to try this project but I think I would make the opening square. Mostly because I don't think I could do the arch. 😆 You make it look so easy but pretty sure I would make a mess. Hi. Love the collaborations. Two things that would make this totally rock would be a plinth with built-in wheels that you could move it around and shelves in the back so you could use it for off seasonal storage. I.E. Christmas, Halloween, summer decorations.

This gorge. Really beautiful. Things I would have done differently? I would have made the showing side wall with an invisible hinge, and add shelves on the one side for extra books and records. Keeping all the records and media together without it showing. And I think I would have buffed the molding so it showed more. My flat is more Pre-raphaelite meets Ikea, so that would suit it better. For the living room that you made it for - it was perfect!

If I changed anything it might be to put the front panels on hinges and have shelves inside so this girl could store her books there, but I am sure that would be more expensive. such a smart solution to the media console problem. a small tweak i'd make if i created this faux fireplace would be making the negative space in the "columns" of the fireplace more suitable for hidden storage. i'd perhaps add shelves in the columns to store winter boots, hats, gloves, sweaters, etc. or better yet, instead of having the openings of the columns facing the wall, i'd rotate those openings 90 degrees and give them doors with hidden hinges. in this way i could access the afore mentioned hidden storage more easily. love your creativity and spirit. keep the good vibes flowing.

Love it! Great job, per usual 😉 If it was mine I would have put 2 sconces on the front of the fire place, right in the front on either side, above the 3 lines. It's a bit of "dead" space, that I think the right sconces would work great in.

As a designer myself, I appreciate the neo-classical molding detailing, but your fluted molding needed something horizontal to finish it off. I would have used some chair rail or door trim and wrapped it around the sides. Otherwise I like the placement of the acanthus leaves. You’re talented framer with a wood shop that one could envy. Keep it up!
That’s awesome! I love the concept of this. But the wasted empty spaces just hurts me. I guess it’s just up to preferences. If I was to make myself one, I would turn the sides of the faux fireplace into shelves. The front would look like a fireplace but the sides would be shelving for more storage. I’m just of the opinion that you can never have too many storage spaces. Lol.

I really liked this makeover! How creative and inspiring, so clever! When I originally watched Alexandra's companion vid I remember wishing the sides were hidden cupboard doors (so you could add shelves inside with maybe a mesh "vent" centred on the front-top or something for infrared remotes) or adding nooks into the front or sides that look like those Arts & Crafts fireplace built-ins for equipment. As always, great job girls!
I love this diy and will probably try and talk my boyfriend in to putting it in the living room. I would probably have done a fake brick of some kind and put a thick live edge mantle on top.

The only change I would have made is to utilize wasted space in the support columns by making the external sides into doors and adding shelves to it. Some kind of Bluetooth speaker adapter for the record player would be good too, then Callie could listen to music all over her apartment.
I guess it would depend on the electric fireplace that you own.... I would follow the manufactures recommendations for material clearance. It's a cool idea tho! :D or maybe just a screen in front with a projector in the back that projects a faux fire! WHA BAM!
Your Faux Fireplace is lovely.... but... if you were building it for someone who needed storage, I was/am confused as to why you left those side pillars empty, instead of making the sides into usable cabinet space instead of wasted unused space.... it still could have hidden the cables and cords.

you can also get light bulbs on amazon that are meant to flicker like flames. They're LEDs so they don't get hot and they're relatively inexpensive.
