We too just bought a house without a fireplace and am going through the same thing. The funny thing is we moved from CA where I always had a fireplace, to a state where it actually snows, and our house does not have a fireplace. 😊

We have just moved into a rental house in NW Florida, and we have chilly winters here. Oh, how fabulous an addition of a fireplace would be to any home! Thank you, NataLee, for showing us how we can do anything we can dream!
You are so inspiring. A lot of crafters I watch do crafts from DT, DG and/or Walmart and transform them. And they do come out beautiful. However, you not only do these types of crafts, you tackle renovations, builds, etc. You are not afraid to take on so much more. This is why I love your channel. It’s so versatile! And you always not only explain everything so well, you inspire us to not be intimidated and to go outside our comfort zone to try something new! This fireplace is a perfect example. (Dollee is growing. She needs safety glasses and a baby construction hat! lol!) you put a lot of work into this fireplace and a lot of details. It certainly paid off. It is absolutely gorgeous!! Something you will enjoy for years to come and hopefully some of us out here will have one to enjoy as well!

Years ago, I wimped out and purchased ready-made portable fireplaces that have a firebox and take clean-burning, ventless gel fuel, but I don't have your talent for design and build. It is so nice to have flame, actual or electrical, in rooms that don't have a fireplace, even if not renting. I can't wait to see your bedroom redo. You are the best!
There's no shame in that!!! I 've thought about doing a furniture flip on one of those too! I think there is just something magical about fire. Maybe I am a pyromaniac! LOL.

When you are measuring to rip off an amount from the plywood/board don’t forget to take the width of the blade into account. If you want 12” wide - put your mark at 12” (measure twice) and cut on the waste side of the line to get an accurate cut. You can lose almost 1/8” from the blade waste. Putting an X on the waste side helps you to remember what size to cut on. Just something to remember when cutting lumber with any saw - table, miter, or circular saw. Love the stuff you do and that you aren’t afraid to try something you have never done before.

Thanks for the idea! We will have to see when I can fit it into the schedule, but in the meantime,, all I would really do is add a triangle to the top of the mantle and maybe have a couple of cleats mounted on the wall to support the back of it. =)

I am in the process of redoing my living room wall similar to this. I found a faux fireplace plan with hidden doors for TV equipment since we aren't doing cabinets (we only have a living room, no family room). Our process was exhausting but all we have to do is some decorative trim and the final painting, then order the floating shelves. I'm so excited to complete something similar to yours from having seen you pull yours together! It is so inspiring! Thank you!

I am in the process of redoing my living room wall similar to this. I found a faux fireplace plan with hidden doors for TV equipment since we aren't doing cabinets (we only have a living room, no family room). Our process was exhausting but all we have to do is some decorative trim and the final painting, then order the floating shelves. I'm so excited to complete something similar to yours from having seen you pull yours together! It is so inspiring! Thank you!
