this is one minute of nature on repeat for an hour

Pretty perceptive, but it's actually several loops of various lengths mixed together. This is how we create our soundscapes, so that they can be any length, but all stay varied for the whole duration.

@@TheAmbientWarriorThanks for the reply your right in one sense as the bird noises appear varied but if you look at the waveform it repeats every minute and the wind seems to have a repeated pattern based on the waveform, why is that?

    • @TheAmbientWarrior

@@karldilkington2716 No problem! So, each individual recording is repeating, some continually, some are set to play a certain many times per hour. But since they are all of varied lengths and many are staggered throughout the hour, the effect is a more-or-less organic feeling mix of the same sounds that never repeats the same way the whole time through. This is to simulate recording the background noise of a single spot without actually recording there, or picking up unwanted extra sounds like planes overhead, people's conversations, or distant traffic.
If memory serves correct, one or two of the wind sounds (I believe there are 3 total in this one) play and loop continuously, therefore it's the easiest to detect. And when looking at the waveform, the wind effects tend to dominate the visualization as they're usually the most noisy overall. But the exact pattern is never quite the same. Thank you for your observant and insightful questions!

@@TheAmbientWarrior Well thanks for the detailed response you explained it really well, it's a nice conversation to have during these strange times but I certainly do have too much time on my hands!

@@karldilkington2716 Thanks for the interest! I haven't made these videos in a while due to certain current constraints in my personal life, but they are a passion project of mine so I enjoy explaining the process. Though you're right, we certainly all have more time on our hands lately, so perhaps it'd be worth endeavoring to return to this project if I can. Regardless, I hope the current selection will suffice during these strange times. Cheers!

Great video, but if I could give a bit of advice, maybe you could use some microphone foam so the wind doesn't break the immersion.
