      TurboTax is awful! They (and other tax companies) are the reason we don't have Return Free Filing in the United States. Companies like TurboTax try to trick people into paying more for their taxes and they make our whole tax system as complicated and expensive as possible. John Oliver did a whole segment on this.

    A big thing that has worked for me is delaying my purchase of "want" items. I keep a list in my notes app on my phone of all the things i want, like a new book or backpack, and then wait a few days to weeks and revisit the list. Most of the time I end up taking things off it rather than going through with a purchase. It also makes me think critically about the items I do own and how they could work instead of purchasing something new. It's helped prevent me from spending a lot of unnecessary money. My approach is simplifying my finances by simply not spending unnecessary money!

      This is actually a good strategy! Some of us resort to impulsive buying and without us knowing, we had already spent twice or thrice than we're supposed to or than our budgets would allow us..

    Here in the Netherlands all banking is paperless. You actually have to pay if you want to receive it in the mail 😅 it's amazing! And better for the planet 👌🌿

      Some banks/accounts will do that in the US or give you a discount on either the monthly fee or the interest rate if it's a loan. I wish it was more common!

      Fighting 7.5% inflation (more like 15%) with a 1% fed funds interest rate is like stopping a Forest fire with a bucket of water. Folks prepare accordingly. Make investment in other not to depend on the government for funds

    I’ve attempted to go paperless. But-I find with digital statements I’m less likely to see them and look at their contents? And I’ve definitely missed errors on them this way. I’m sticking with paper statements for now, because of this. I almost feel like many places want you to switch to paperless just so they can slip in minute errors that add up to billions for them over time.

      I do online banking completely, excluding the few oddball in-person needs. I check my accounts daily/few times per week, so I can see pending payments come through before they fully hit. That way, I can handle things as they come up, rather than end of the month, and I can balance expenses that way. I also keep my day-to-day accounts to just a few banks, which makes keeping track of them easier.

      This can be relatable to a lot of people. We are being robbed in an unobvious way because sometimes overpriced can come in its smallest amount such as centavos, but if we add it up to the total amount of people who have experienced this - we'll be surprised they are earning millions from it - from all their victims.

    • @Erin-rg3dw
      @Erin-rg3dw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@site_is_down Absolutely. Banks especially tack in all sorts of little fees. Each fee was generally only a couple dollars, but it adds up.

      I think that’s true. But i guess if you like these videos there might still be something you can take and use. Even learning English for some here by watching YT might lead somewhere. But appreciate what you have, wherever you are - a lot of ‘westerners’ are overweight and have health problems, or come from broken families. But yeah i agree there’s some kind of financial advantage here compared to some other places.

      My wife and I grew up in a 3rd world country, we were poor but we worked our way out of poverty by pursuing education. It requires hardwork, dedication, blood, sweat & tears. We became US immigrants because of work, we started our lives in the US on our early 20’s with 2 luggages full of old clothes & a $2000 debt. Nothing should stop u from achieving your dreams… Being in a 3rd world country shouldn’t be an excuse, u just need to look for opportunities…

    Stop the annoying background music. Practice what you preach by stopping noise pullotion. If I want music I listen to music. I don't need you to play background music while talking. That is not minimalism but an attack on my senses.

      Music is part of cinematography. Videos without music are often very awkward and too quiet. Everything from TV shows, movies, podcasts, and TH-cam videos use music to create a certain mood. Feel free to make your own videos if you don't like the way someone else makes theirs. But there is no need to attack someone who is trying to help you live a better life lol.
