Here is a simple video showing you how to and what parts are needed to convert you tired old RX13 board to the newer RX18 which adds greater throttle response, sound and smoke

Currently doing this myself.
Picked up a very good condition, almost as new Tiger in the box for £35.
First thing I did was Chuck the RX-13 and now in the process of upgrading.
Also fixing the suspension, replacing the idlers and have drilled a hole in the side of the gearbox to give clearance for the suspension bolt which appears to pinch the gearbox.
Hello! I recently bought a used Heng Long Pantiger with a bad Rx13 board so I used your advice. One thing that stood out when I got the tank working again was that the Heng Long multifunction board you used in the video, did not want to produce sound or smoke. all the tank could do was move, turn , rotate the turret and shoot but no sound or smoke? it just keeps beeping and beeping and that's all you hear from the tank. I dont know if I am missing anything because I'm quite new to the hobby. Thanks

I am trying to wire up the new 7.0 in place of the connector you have here. There is a multi colored plug that goes from the original Heng Long board to the green board. It is wired to the CN8 SI terminal. Where does “this” one go on the new 7.0 board? They for some reason skip the CN8 designation. This is the “corner” plug on the old one.
I’m a noobie on this but I would hate to plug this in the wrong place. It looks like I need to re-wire the connectors for the 7.0 board anyway to connect to the main motors. Old has plugs and new 7.0 has tubular connectors out the side of the box.

I have a Tiger tank with a circuit like that too , I have the Sender radio with A B C in the corner . Will this work ? And did you have to take the wires of the circuit board and add plugs as well?
I have a old HL tiger 1 tank, instead of buying the rx18/transmitter/speaker/smoke machine/and receiver, im thinking of doing it all myself, so that means I will have proper tank contros, i.e left stick controls left track, right stick controls right track.

Hello mate ive just bought a kv1 heng long off some one and all i needed he said said was crystals so i bought 27.195 as it says that under neath but ive noticed this tanks got that board u have multi function one and speaker but i turn the tank on i hear the speaker but the lights just flash wondering if u can help me out

Two questions.
Do you still have the original board? (Unlikely since it's an 8 year old video) I accidentally ripped a cable off of mine and I don't know where to solder it back and can't find diagrams online, nor anyone else who has this old version of the tank.
2. How did you take the back panel off? I can only seem to get one side lose?

This motor/gearbox works well with steel tracks?I'm thinking of using bike chains for tracks,do you guess that would works?
Is there a way to cut that annoying starting to move (buzzing) sound when i push forward or backward on RC?

I couldnt see from the video but did you get the tracks turn the opposite direction when you turn the tank on the spot? It looked like it didnt. German tanks should have that feature.

Hello, i have a fried transistor on my rx13 board (at 0:43) i can clearly see the transistor in the upper right corner above the electrolitic capacitors and below the ceramic orange one.on the board the transisor is labbeled Q1.please tell me the code for that transistor so i can rfeplace it

Do most of the heng long's come with just the rx13?
The older ones did. Now the new ones are smoke and sound which have the RX18 board as standard.

Are the RX's Cppm? I see only 3 wires, I use CPPM on my quadcopter and I've trawled forums for more details on a tiger 1 (wanted t-34/85) i picked up on ebay, not opened tank, but I'd say by it's shyte responses it must be a RX13, so I've oredered a rx18, soooo, 2 questions,
I'm left handed so IF the RX18 uses PPM, i can fit a orange micro PPM reciever and use my "proper" 9xr pro radio, configure the channels to my cac handedness and join the world of RC tanks, (or moving camera platform)
I get the RX18 and use the Rx in the tank? or I have to buy more stuff... the Tx... bearing in mind I paid £55 for the Tiger, and a T-34/85 was £91......
My tank will not work at all. What should I do to find the problem? I have the Tiger 1 with no sound or smoke.
hi, recently fix my rc leopard 2A6 tank with a new airsoft unit, but now the recoil in the tracks is not working how do u slove it, but still the moter in the airsoft unit is working. be help if someone knew. Thx.
last time i got my airsoft unit, is missing a delayer that small thing that looks like a tiny tongs, once the piston pulled to the back it makes it contact therefore triggers the track recoil and sound
Hey dude. Cheers for the video. I've whipped out the tank after a few years to have a play, but the crystals appear to be broken, because the tank won't respond to the controller key button, but it still turns on and the lights flash. Given that I can't seem to find any of the RX-13 crystals anymore, I would likely have to do this full upgrade yes? Is it also still possible to use my current speaker thats already in it?

Yeah I would throw the RX18 in it, much better. You can use the standard speaker plugs straight into the newer boards.

I have bought a Heng Long PanzerKampfwagen III with no-smoke, and no-sound. It does have Airsoft. Evidently this uses the old RX-13 board, which does not have easily-replaceable crystals.
I want to play with this tank with another RC tank I bought my son (by Huan Qi), but evidently they are on the same frequency. So, I want to change the frequency of my Heng Long Panzer III.
It looks like to do this I will need to replace my receiver in the tank with the RX18, and likewise get a new transmitter.
Question: Where can I buy the necessary components?

I'm trying to upgrade the receiver of my RX18 because my uncle who gave it to me to keep, misplaced it. So I'm giving it a receiver that allows me to use an app on my phone

It is very odd mark that both quit at the same time. Recharge both the main batteries and make re you are using the correct remote for each tank... try swapping.
