- I bought the newly released tasting pack from Ardnamurchan. This pack includes the AD Standard Release, Rum Cask, Sauternes Cask and the new Sherry Cask. Let's try all of these and see which cask play better with the beautiful Ardnamurchan spirit.

Great opportunity to compare these cask influences. I did a single cask matured in Oloroso, and it was young and hot, but the sherry worked... Cheers!
Man I just can't deal with too much Oloroso, it doesn't agree with me. I did like the Sherry one of this for some reason and I actually got a bottle of it yesterday 😅 More and more distilleries should do these packs for us to compare. Cheers 🥃
Hey I'd love to find this package of small bottles to try out the different expressions! I am not a rum fan at all so I would skip that one but I would try the Sherry and Sauternes expressions! I have had one Ardnamurchan - the cask strength expression - and I enjoyed it but wasn't blown away so I approach this whisky with a bit of hesitation. Sometimes it takes me time to get used to certain single malts. I'd have to explore more to see what I think about Ardnamurchan overall. I am intrigued with the Sherry Cask! I think the Sauternes might be too sweet for me. But I'd definitely love to try both in a package of small bottles - fab idea!! I think the price of this gift style pack is very reasonable! I understand what you're saying about Ardnamurchan and I do agree. I think we need to review these in their own respective categories, meaning; newly formed, young distilleries making young whisky without using STR casks to help with maturation. In this category, they're great and they do promise to make even better spirit as they age but yeah they're not the best whisky you're going to drink right now 😃

Loved this run down man! I also wasn't impressed by the Rum Cask but the standard AD, the Cask Strength and the Sherry Cask all are hitters for me! I've nearly rinsed my AD 01.21.01 and would do the same with the Sherry and Cask Strength if they were easier to replace. That Sauternes cask sounds really interesting. Cheers man!
Thanks dude! Yeah the Rum was a bit nothingy, I didn't get it at all but damn that sherry is good! I hope this pack makes it your way as well. The sauternes is beautiful and I think they have a few of those casks laying around so who knows we might get full sized bottles soon. Cheers!
If one of these sample packs come my way I’ll try and snag one. I don’t have FOMO yet with any Ardnamurchan because as you alluded… great juice but still have some aging to do.

Picking up my first bottle of Ardnamurchan (the regular AD) from the post office today. Everyone says it's beautifully constructed for a young malt, looking forward to it. I way prefer rum to rum finishes 😊 and often struggle with wine finishes, but will certainly try a sherried Ardnamurchan once they get a little older. Anyway, thanks for your great review.
Lucky you! I think you'll enjoy that bottle 😃 yeah I hear you, some finishes could be hit or miss and I'm not a massive sherry fan but Ardnamurchan Sherry cask is something else! Cheers, thanks for watching
Sauternes casks have really been hitting the spot for me lately. Very keen for this one and your impression is selling it more to me!
As far as I know they have not released this as a full size bottle but maybe if we rave enough about it, they will 😃

You definitely should try their cask strength bottlings too
I have and yeah they're good but I think at this age 50%abv tops feels good for me. I haven't tried the Paul Lenois one which I'm looking forward to 🥃
Great review , i have tried a few core expressions and thw aquavitae bottlings. Keen to try more but the rum and sherry are hard to find. The only rum finish i have is cu bocan 12 and its great.
Thanks! Yeah I missed the boat on Roy's bottles, I'm sure they're very good. I was in Edinburgh yesterday and found the last sherry bottle left on the third shop I visited! They had some Rum sitting around though. I haven't tried the Cu Bocan but peat and rum would probably be good 😋 Cheers 🥃

Thank you, glad you liked it! That's a great question. The first one to come to mind is the Balvenie Caribbean Rum, I also enjoy peat and rum combinations so the Glenfiddich Fire&Cane is pretty good for the price. As an entry whisky Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is decent as well. I hated the Teeling Small Batch but I do enjoy the Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Cask. Hope this helps 🥃
