Great to hear you enjoyed our Sherry Cask Release Geoff. Hopefully meet you in Taipei in November?
Cheers
Hey Connal. Just gave you a follow on IG. I'd love to meet in Nov. Let me know! 🥃
8.8 in my book. I was so proud when I got this one lol
Hah nice find, buddy. Glad you're enjoying! 🥃
Great review Geoff. I was lucky enough to have Ardnamurchan visit our local shop a couple of weeks back. Sampled this & absolutely loved it, so obviously had to buy a bottle!
Awesome! 🥃
Whisky is a funny thing, I thought the Sherry was submerged by the peat. But I realise this is exactly what most people are after. Ardnamurchan already gaining legend status, can’t wait to try their spirit as it ages.
This!
Just found your channel and love it. Hard honesty with a great sense of humor. Thanks!
Hah that's awesome. Welcome and thanks for watching! 🥃
Sounds good! I will have the AD 09/22 Cask strength tonight :-)
Nice review Goeff. I must say i waiting for this one and im glad you got it. Im happy to have this bottle as well. Really nice whisky. Im Ardna fan and i like what they doing.its bit tricky with PX in this one but they proof they can do a good whisky based on young distilate. Just waiting for them 1st 10yo expression. I think it gonna be belter. Cheers 👍😁🥂🙋🏻♂️
I think I heard somewhere that they don't plan on getting into age statements. Don't hold me to that, though. Might just be a rumour. Regardless, they definitely have a bright future when older stock becomes available to them. 🥃
Hi Geoff.I've enjoyed Ardnarmurchen from the very first release (and before everybody was talking about them) I've had problems getting a bottle of the Sherry Cask release (I'm a Brit living in Germany) but luckily I was recently back home in Wales and got a bottle there.I'm a big Sherry and peat fan so the heavy sherry notes and light peat influence is just my sort of dram.
Glad you got your bottle mate and you liked it!
I also managed to get my hands on them in Berlin finally! Cheers Mate 🥃🥃
Nice find. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. It seems like it's a big hit with pretty much everyone! 🥃
Nice review Geoff! I just picked up my first bottle of the AD/ and it made me an instant fan. I will definitely be picking up more from Ardnamurchan.
Nice! 🥃
Loving my bottle of this. Massively thick and oily mouth feel. Love the subtle peat influence. Not quite on the level of the cask strength but well worth buying.
Well said. Agree! 🥃
I was so looking for your thoughts on this! I jumped on the hype train and I was able to get one of the last bottles available here in Germany. They're all sold out now. And I have to say I enjoy it quite a lot! I'm excited to try, the AD 9.22
The CS 9.22 is gorgeous. Glad you scored a bottle of this! 🥃
Hi mr. Geoff ) Until i honored this distillery ))) You said so deliciously i think mayby buy it ? Gaumarjos !
Hey buddy. You should definitely try it! Gaumarjos! 🥃
Nice one Geoff I'm glad to see your take on it. Sounds like I will not be hunting for this as I love what they do with their standard AD releases. Cheers!
You'll enjoy this one, buddy! 🥃
YES! We were a relatively late comers to the Ardnamurchan, but yeah, consistently great quality we find, supply is not too bad also and pricing- i suppose is good, fair. The PL, champagne finish is particular favourite but I can’t get my hands on any….. 😅
I've got a bottle of the PL on the go and it's incredible! 🥃
Thx Geoff, another great & fun video; totally agree that Ardnamurchan generally and this single malt in particular is overpriced being such a young whisky. Btw, fyi, Ardnamurchan is misspelled on the screen in your background :)
Ups 😋
Ardnamurchan is Gaelic for Port wine, so your joke landed better than you thought! Thorough review, as always 👍
I picked this up last weekend in Callendar - shop had 8 bottles on the shelf. Really enjoying it especially compared to some of the other young spirit that other new distilleries are producing with active casks - this knits together better than most.
Nice! 🥃
Excellent, and a touch of honesty too
I am trying to not spend $125 on my FOMO.
Hah fair enough. Is it sold in your market? 🥃
@@Gwhisky I'm an hour north of Manhattan. So northern NJ, downstate NY and the west end of Ct and there are literally only half dozen stores out of the hundreds that have a decent selection and realistic prices. Mostly the Glenfiddich and Glenlivet on the shelves. It drives me crazy, the lack of variety.
The standard Ardnamurchin is rare.
I saw last year's CS for $89 and an indie 6 year old sherry Ardnamurchin for $119 online. I let the shopping cart sit on the website from DC, for many weeks and watched all my overpriced bottles sell out. 👍. I check their "latest arrivals" daily to see what's going on. Last week was a bunch of Kilchoman.
I think Washington DC is the best market. People in the business tell me the regulations and taxes are very relaxed compared to other states. I can't get deliveries from California to NY. They can only deliver within NY, or from DC or from nationwide online sellers.
"It's Bourbon Night" did a hunting video in DC recently, and their first (or second) stop is the good one. They weren't buying scotch though.
I might be waiting for Ardnamurchin to drop a 10 year old, for $200 🤣🤣. Age does matter. Price is most important but I don't need to collect new make spirit. I'm not buying any more GlenAllachie until it's all Billy Walker's and we'll aged. There's a 4 year old peated available for well over $100. They call it a "future edition"
I'll just get another 46.8%. Those regular bottles from Ardnamurchin are probably the best. Mine is down to the label after a few months, you got me to pour a dram with your video and it was much better than I remember. The flavors that are worth talking about actually showed up. The neck pours seemed really closed up. Now I can say that I'm impressed.
Cheers
I picked up a bottle of Ardnamurchan AD/02.22 cask strength the other day. I look forward to trying it next month on my birthday.
It's a beauty. Enjoy! 🥃
Hey Geoff,
Sounds like a good one for cocktails.
Never tried the Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask and definitely don't think I would like it even if I would have, so ALL HAIL GLENALLACHIE 12!!!! ⚡💥
.....................( I know...shame 🔔...)
Really enjoyed the review and was excited to hear your thoughts in depth!
Im definitely on the hype train with this one....hope it indeed wont end like Springbank...🤞
Thanks for that note on the salami- that really hit home especially with a specific Hungarian one hah! Cannot unsmell it now 😂
So let me leave you with one in exchange that I got and you haven't mentioned - slightly salty but mostly sweet tomato soup.
Looking forward to further videos and reviews!
Cheers my friend 🥃🥃
Slightly salty sweet tomato soup? Hah cool. I'll check for than with my next dram. Cheers, my friend! 🥃
Sounds good. I've really liked the sherry influence in the AD batches that I've had so will probably enjoy this too as a change. It is still in stock at some places here but probably not for long.
The availability issue is worrying. We don't need another much loved distillery that can only be bought at auction... Fingers crossed that their warehouses are well stocked! Cheers Geoff 🥃
I think the UK is one of the few places that still has any of these bottles left. If you're interested, you might want to grab one soon. I'm actually quite curious how you'd feel about this one. Cheers Shane! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Tempting, tempting! We shall see 🙂
Surprised by the lack of smoke - thought this was 50/50 peated/unpeated but maybe the sherry has dominated that….thanks for the review, seems to be more popular for review on german/dutch whiskytube!
Maybe they're the only ones with access to it outside of the UK? Got mine in Austria. 🥃
I've bought a bottle of this but I'm ready to wait until it becomes "whisky weather" (ie a bit more cold & miserable) before I crack it open. Quite happy that it's not too smoky - I like peated whisky but I don't want the flavour to be smoke-dominant, although I'm wondering if I'll want this to have a touch more from how you're describing it LOL.
Hah you just might. Very subtle smoke! But the sherry is very nice and overall it's a well-structured whisky. Hope you enjoy. 🥃
Wondering bout that salami mouthfeel… jokes aside though I’m almost sensing that you wanted to like this more than you did?
@@Gwhisky opened it and love it. Think I prefer this to Springbank 10 (which contains peat but it's barely perceptible to me). Already thinking about a back-up bottle, and what a 10-year age expression will taste like.
Cheers Jeff and all you guys aboard, Carpe Diem ( make the most of your youth) but don't give up on the reviews😊
Thanks! Appreciate the words of wisdom, and don't worry, no plans on stopping! 🥃
Now there is a AD/ Peated Sherry Cask release 2023 50.0% ABV. Just released in Sweden and still available 😉
Hi Geoff, really nice review.
Liquid salami and pepperoni?? Sounds great....
It is! 🥃
Hey Geoff, nice to see this review so fast. 🤩
Have you had the chance to try the Madeira cask release? if yes how does it compare? Cheers🥃🥃
I've ordered 2 bottles of it, but I'm not sure when it'll come in. Hopefully soon. Cheers! 🥃
@@Gwhisky hopefully🤞 Any chance for a comparison of those two or even to their cs? I would be very much interested even though anyone could guess your favourite in advance 😉🥃🥃
When all the bottles are in I hope to do a full ardna lineup comparison. 😉
@@Gwhisky cannae wait🥳
Great vid again.
Just opened a bottle of it 2 days ago. Was a bit disappointed. Opened the Maclean nose blended just before the AD sherry and found it a bit better at the neckpour especially the finish. I hope it will open up like you said it will cause the finish was way to short even to the point of non-existing.
I wasn't impressed at first, and it got much better over time. Hopefully you'll have the same experience. For me it's a big step up from the Maclean's Nose. 🥃
@@Gwhiskywell i hope so and i am counting on it it will happen. Have a lot of bottles which developed very good after a disappointed start. Cheers!
@@Gwhisky it has opened up beautifully (already after a couple of days). I had a couple of drams last week and it is for a very young whisky very dimensional. I even picked up some green herbal notes in the background. Really liking the stuff. Glad i bought 2 bottles.
@@lucienvisser5405 Awesome! 🥃
Great information, btw in your tv screen says Arndamurchan instead of Ardnamurchan, I thought I was wrong it was a good visual quiz, muchas gracias, btw, where the saltiness comes from? Top notch Muchas gracias 🤘
Hah yeah I messed up the spelling. The saltiness comes from Ardnamurchan being a coastal distillery. Some distilleries get a salty sea maritime note in them as a result of their coastal locations. 🥃
@@Gwhisky muchas gracias 🤘
Killed my bottle within two weeks after purchase. I have a 2nd. Looking for a 3rd and probably a 4th...😅
Hah nice. 🥃
Its only 15.000 bottles worldwide so you need to be quick. Hope they release another batches at affordable prices 🤞😁🥂🙋🏻♂️
How can you finish this bottle in 2 weeks? You have alcohol problems. Mine last a half a year or a whole year 🙃
Haha, I was on holiday and whisky is for sharing😉
This sounds up my alley, so it's not overhyped then?
A lot of people love it, so maybe not? I'd be more hyped about some of their other releases, but I suppose this one has the broadest appeal. It's good! 🥃
Hello Geoff,
I caught one.
I opened it.
I like it but....
its a bit young,
its a bit hot.
its still a fun Whisky and i try to get another Bottle😅.
Thanks for sharing your Thoughts and Opinion about this one.
Greetings from Germany 😎🤘
Hopefully yours opens up with time. I felt similar about mine when it was freshly popped. Cheers buddy! 🥃
@@Gwhisky I hope that , so i drank a bit and putted in back to grow🤗
🥃
Arnda….what? 😂
Don’t believe everything that’s on the television!
Armda...gerkin 😅🥂🙋🏻♂️
Oops. I never learned to reed or right.
Hey what's with that hand gesture you make when you're tasting?
Lol it's completely meaningless. I'm just a dramatic sipper. 😉
You’ve got it misspelled on screen behind you in the vid.
Lol oops! 🥃
I tried this at the distillery and it put me off almost immediately.
Ouch!
Why did it put you off
Hard to say. Astringent, sharp, the sherry was not well integrated. But your bottling is obviously different, better. I’ll give it another try if I find it.
What happened when there is a mix of Olorosso and PX ??
The PX adds additional sweetness to the traditional dried fruit and baking spice profile you get from Olorosso casks. My guess is that the distillery chose to add the PX to mask the youth of this whisky and to balance out the more savory flavors presented in the distillate.
@@christophermcdonald2901 thanks
Sold out😢
Eesh. Yeah, not surprised. 🥃
First to like and comment🎉
Yessir! 🥃
No Ardnamurchan whisky's available on Taobao right?
I have no idea what whisky is sold on Taobao. 🥃
Quite a few actually. Do you purchase yours online in Taiwan? I'm curious@@Gwhisky
@@Shane4Bass I order a few from local shops. I don't know of Taobao shops here but yes I do buy online.
You might want to try a spell check 😂
I know
Well... useless review this time, Geoff.
Reason 1: hype all the way, so this will finds its way to those who love sherry matured whisky.
Reason 2, not excited myself.
But all in all... keep up the decent reviews. Useless, but decent 😊.
Slàinte mhath
Funny. Useless, but decent = exactly how my gf describes me. 😉🥃
Tried the AD:/11 CK.114 px sherry one, it's decent
