@@smnbrgss i first came across the franchise watching the penguins show as a kid, gotta say it was pretty great. 10/10 would watch a spy comedy about penguins in a zoo again.

I love this movie. In the German dubbed version, the penguins are voiced by a rap group that started out in the 80s, got famous in 90s and is still performing. The group consists of one 90s heartthrob they jokingly call a diva (voicing Skipper), one very philosophical thinker (Kowalski), one who often gets surprising ideas and can be very cute/childish (Private) and lastly the guy who doesn’t rap but is a DJ/producer and is famous for talking the least during interviews (Rico). As a child and even today, I thought/think that was a brilliant casting choice.
Need him to watch The Adventures of TinTin so badly. Such a great motion capture/animation movie and as usual, Andy Serkis is absolutely amazing in that.
3:02 The actor who plays Skipper the Penguin is TOM MCGRATH, the director and creator of the Madagascar Franchise, directed Megamind and The Boss Baby. Private is played by Christopher Knights, a Storyboard Artist at DreamWorks. Kowlaski is played by Chris Miller, who directed Shrek the Third, plays the Magic Mirror in the Shrek Franchise. Rico is played by Jeffrey Katzenburger, in the first Madagascar and is played by John DiMaggio in the rest of the movies excluding The Penguins of Madagascar Spin-Off Movie.
Madagascar 2 is a really good sequel. I saw Bolt as a movie recommendation in the comments which i highly recommend knowing what you seem to enjoy. Also Treasure Planet is a touching story and good recommendation.
I wasn’t even in Manhattan, I was in a smaller city in Pennsylvania not too long ago for a concert and just the city noise from that was too chaotic for me to sleep 😭 The honking, fast driving cars, people yelling, music… nah. Gimme my peaceful, quiet nights.

My parents were born and raised in NYC and I’ve had relatives on both sides of my family living and working there my whole life. From extended visits, it’s lots of traffic sounds with honking, garbage trucks, loud delivery truck/bus braking and starting sounds, and other traffic/vehicle engine and door slamming sounds, emergency vehicle sirens, car alarms, construction, helicopters, occasional shouting or loud conversations that all create a low buzz when it’s quieter or a boisterous cacophony during mid to late day busy/loud stretches. At street level you get people talking to each other or to themselves on the phone and also to themselves but not on the phone in tons of different languages from both residents and tourists. If you want to get a taste there are videos on here with hours of sounds from open windows or of NYC at night.
The "I'm a monster" and "I don't want to hurt you" from Alex really makes me realize that Ben Stiller's actually not that bad of a serious voice actor told. Like yes, his comedy voice acting is gold, but he can handle the dark stuff too, and it's really good.

There are so many gags and Easter eggs I forgot about, or missed the first time I saw this movie. The Wild Kingdom TV show theme, the reference to Cast Away with Tom Hanks, the reference to Planet of the Apes, and the Jersey comments are just a few. Typical New Yorkers. And Yes, New York is the noisiest place on Earth.
I love your reactions. Obvious you love movies and you have a good heart. You make me smile and provide much needed perspective in these challenging times.
To get more information everyone should watch “All hail, King Julien” series and it explains a little bit more about King Julian, Maurice and Mort lives before Alex and the gang arrived. It also explains why Mort is obsessed with King Julian’s feet.
I really enjoyed your reaction ((: I needed those laughs this week so thanks for that haha, it was so fun to visit one of my all-time favorite childhood movies and see someone else experience it for the first time
yeah this movie is so good XD it hits a whole way when you realize and feel so bad for Alex when they are on the island and he has not eaten for like 3 days and they are all confused on why he is acting the way he does- and also the realization of "oh gosh...Alex can easily out run Marty" the comedy is also so good
As someone who grew up in the “ wild” in Connecticut but now lives in Manhattan, it really isn’t that bad and you get used to the noise that exists . Most people think it’s like you see in the movies the crowded, noisy Midtown or Times Square and other tourist hot spots. Many ( certainly not all ) neighborhoods where people live are quieter and less crowded unless you live on a low floor near a bar . Both my office ( near grand central) and apartment have thick walls and windows so it’s pretty quiet. Central Park is huge wonderful oasis . Friends are often surprised when I show them how different neighborhoods can be from the craziness they are used to when they have visited in the past.
7:33, I’m not a New Yorker but I do live in Toronto which is basically the Canadian equivalent and yes, it is very loud at night. Not enough to prevent sleep but still crazy enough. The police siren was pretty accurate 🤡
Fun fact about my childhood with this movie. Madagascar was the very first movie I’ve seen in the theaters. I was 5 years old at the time and now I’m 21 years old and I still love this movie with all my heart and it will always be a special movie for me because of that very reason
Now idk how popular the Madagascar trilogy was. But in my opinion, Madagascar 2 was the most popular, then part 1 and then part 3. So definitely watch Madagascar 2. And if you haven't watched How To Train Your Dragon, then it's a MUST watch.

They look like a combination of a cougar, a weasel and a bit of a rat. There's only 2,500 of them, that's sad.

Madagascar has sometimes been nicknamed the eight continent because almost all of its flora and fauna is exclusive to that island.

It's so funny that Ross voices Melman, the voice suits the character so much😂
