Creator of the mod here! Thanks for the video, it was very entertaining. I have since updated the mod. Unfortunately, Scipii was rather unreliable for a duration, but that has since been fixed. Oh, and the Very Hard AI got very hard...er. Great video!

@@MsSirAndy Ahh I see, a supporter of the potential role of Alexander should go to a Slav. There has been some strife in recent years on whether the role of Alexander in the potential 2nd movie should go to a Slav or Greek. I see as highly unlikely that the sequel will ever reach production stage.

Rome 2 launch was a disaster, but CA really put it back together since then. It's really sad those who hasn't played after the launch remember Rome 2 as 'the bad total war' when it's really one of the most successful titles in terms of sales, active player base and general experience.

Yeah, 100% agree with you, however my problem is, is that I can't afford a computer good enough to run it at 60FPS, however even without 60FPS the game is still a bunch of fun. Honestly such a fun game with lots of potential if you play it correctly.

rome 1 never left! best total war ever.
When you didn't like the UI and the basic dumbed down town-building system and the combat that makes ranged underpowered, this still does not do it, Rome1 will be hard to make a mod for, it was really good, just a tad unstable. Any Rome1 guys wanting to play Rome1 while doing other stuff, get the program DXWnd and import the medieval TW profile and modify it to point to rome exe instead, full-screen adjustable window mode and it hardly ever crashes! wonderful.
Athens and Egypt are the funnest factions for me to play because they have everything, from swordsmen to great archers to amazing pikes and cavalry. Besides Rome itself they have some of the biggest collections of unit types you can mix.
Back to his roots I see.

Vigile (Militia Spearmen) are fine. I always have them or auxilia in my armies to take the charge, and possibly flank with heavy infantry, even late game.
I'm right there with you on sparta, i think part of it is their total lack of melee infantry and shock cavalry, which just turns any offensive action with them into a slow grindfest. yet for some reason they remain oddly popular as an attacking faction in online siege battles, so i guess some folks are into that, personally i prefer Syracuse or Massalia if i'm going Hellenistic

Legio translates to Levy, and likely refers to the fact that pre Marian troops were essentially militias who maintained their own gear and served out of a sense of civic duty. Similar to, though perhaps distinct from, medieval levies where you were required to serve your lord and generally weren’t expected to be paid except when looting a settlement.

Hi Alex and other lovers of Total War while this is a nice Mod that needs a little more work if I might reccomend the Familiae Romanae:Roman Houses Mod which Splits the Roman's into the four factions with accompanying starting families and far more detail than the version in the video. Also I reccomend the AAA: Aging generals mod if you get tired of seeing 88 year old generals that look like they are 30.
Sparta is my favorite faction
I mean all people wanted out of Rome 2 was the same game but with a few tweaks and a graphical update and instead they mucked it up. So this is great it’s closer to what people originally wanted

Im new to your channel. have you tried Divide Et Impera? im having a blast with it. its Rome 2 as it should have been
1.26 and its a and b patchs really made me want to play it, I even started as Rome which I usually don't just to see how it sails

I was just playing Rome 2 and I was like man this aint the same as Rome 1. I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets but it did have me feeling nostalgic.

There is an even better mod for Attilla total war called Ancient empires, the same concept a little more accurate to the period. Check it out if you haven't already
Medieval 2 is the best!! Rome is a very close second though.

I tried it but not as Rome & the very hard settings should probably only be used if you are a Rome faction ; SPQR gets a full stack of Triarii almost instantly ; my first run as Greek States I forgot that I had numerous other provinces besides Athens!! Second run as Gaul much more successful

If you have problem recording Rome 1 because low fps just disable anti-aliasing . I dont have any problem with recording Rome 1 with OBS .
