    Yours truly, "The FIREman with A Name" is back in this exciting DLC pack! Mike at Smokebox has done another great job for sure and I'm glad that Dovetail Games put better, more appropriate music in the trailer for this DLC of a train that ran in the Old West.

    Since this video was made, the model has been updated with the addition of a water injector and some extra controls in the cab. You'll need to check the manual on disk (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN\Smokebox - UP119 Steam Locomotive Add-on Manual - EN.pdf). Make sure it's issue 3 (the store page for UP119 still links to an obsolete issue of the manual).

      Do you have like control manual like for the Jupiter?

    • @Smokebox
      @Smokebox 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aidanbailey8614 Yes, it's in the same folder and is called Smokebox - UP119 Steam Locomotive Add-on Manual - EN.pdf. Make sure it says Issue 3 at the bottom of the page (and if it doesn't, you should enable automatic updates so that it downloads issue 3).

    Driving these engines are quite tough and complex as compared to modern day engines.

    Identical to the Jupiter, still beautiful, the whistle should sound different though, it should be a 3 chime instead of a 1 chime

    Should make a train sim world game for the Warrnambool Line in Victoria Australia
    The route runs over 300km’s of track and has 35 year old EMDs running from Melbourne 2 Warrnambool with newer 13 year old vlocity DMU’s that go as far as Warrnambool this route also has heavy freight traffic.
    So I hope to see this line made on the near future :)

    Ouch, thats some rough driving. Most preserved locos wouldn't last a day being treated like that these days

      because of licensing.areas outside of usa cannot get these dlcs.if you purchased these dlcs before the license expired then these remain in your game

    3:45???
    After steam engine is broken :/

    • @Smokebox
      @Smokebox 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Locomotives didn't have any brakes in those days, except for a parking handbrake on the tender. The way to slow down was by using steam pressure in the cylinders to act against the oncoming piston head (sometimes called "compression braking"). It has to be done carefully, continually adjusting the throttle to manage the amount of steam going into the cylinders so that the pressure doesn't become excessive and cause bending of the rods or damage to the packing glands. In fact, that too is simulated in the model - if you apply to much reverse pressure for too long, the packing glands burst, steam pours out of the cylinders, you lose power and the scenario ends.

    • @armagonarmagon3980
      @armagonarmagon3980 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ightenhillsim This is how the locomotive would have looking in service as delivered from the factory. The railroad would have done its best to preserve the paint for a while. Remember that this was when railroads hired people to specifically wipe down and clean the locomotives after a run. A clean locomotive basically told anyone who saw it “This railroad knows how to run itself efficiently.” Also, keep in mind that this was basically a rolling advertisement for the company that built the locomotive, so they would want to put their best foot forward with something that attracted people’s attention.

    • @Smokebox
      @Smokebox 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The locomotive was also a source of pride for the crew that ran her. They would do their utmost to keep her looking clean at all times. The grungy appearance they give the locomotives in the spaghetti westerns and TV shows (such as Hell On Wheels) is entirely inaccurate.
