Hello I like your work been following for a while.... their's one important note I have to say. Can you please please do a series on Japanese samurai armor complete builds including different style knot works. Thanks hopefully other people like my self would have a huge interest seeing this style come to life sooner than later.... much love for your craft....
Oh yes!!!! I'd like to make my own samurai armor but the images on Google aren't what i'm looking for. I'm not that creative to think of it myself so i'm very excited to see how he would do it.
That's all good to hear.. I've seen versions of star wars as samurai etc. Ass long ass it has plate armor and knot works all good that's what resembles samurai in my opinion
@@Princearmory And if your original fantasy set was any indication (two style options, one simple, the other with more fantasy flair), I see no reason why a Samurai/fantasy set couldn't be customized by its user to be more historically correct.
It's highly doubtful I would ever make something like this but it is totally fascinating to see an artist at work. Showing tools and techniques but also remembering no-one starts with all the tools is wonderfully refreshing (too many 'experts' seem to think anyone following them will have finances to buy 'everything') I've subscribed to help your You Tube algorithm.
You got some really nice recognition! I remember when I first saw your first video, while ago, only thousands of subs, now at 100k, I'm very happy for ya bro, well deserving
It would be super helpful if you provided the measurements or sizes of the pieces used in the example. I get different sizes when trying to print the PDF or trying to use the SVG files. I understand the pattern is scalable, but it would help to have a start point.
I wanted to draw your attention to the patterns I bought for the paldrons and chest plate. Some of the rivet holes are missing on the template and are also misaligned on a couple pieces. Just wanted to let you know. But other than that they come together beautifully thank you so much
Hello, I got interested in one of your past tutorials. I wanted to make the tiger dragon helmet but the last two videos weren't out yet. I was wondering if you were still going to put those out.
By what i learned, leather armor is relatively effective at protecting from slashes and hacking, and can absorve some blunt damage. However, it can't be repaired like bronze or steel armor. Simply stitching and gluing a cut will leave it as a weak point. Creating replacement armor pieces can help, but can be costly.
Yeah, I made mini versions of some armor pieces in the past for some amusing displays at renfest. And some of our students have resized them for dolls and small kids too.
Lazer is sweet but does it ruin the edges? Too "crispy"? Can you still burnish or do you have to sand it down some first? I'm a noob and can't wait to start building some of your patterns. Think this pauldron will be my first of many.
Awesome! DO you not burnish the edges on these? Do you reckon its worth doing that? I'm hand cutting so my edges are a little messier. Or do you think a Fieibings Edge Kote will suffice?
@@Princearmory Thank you for the response. When I write functional I should clarify. I mean is it fighting worthy or how much protection would it provide?
@@Wolfedog It's functional, and if you're making it yourself it is obviously completely up to you what you end up with. You can use thicker leather for more protection, as well as harden the leather if you're really wanting it to be solid. If you're actually planning on fighting in it, you should consider padding under the armor to reduce bruising.
@@Wolfedog I wear a suit of the fantasy armour that I built every week at my LARP, it provides good protection and mobility plus it looks awesome as well
@@Wolfedog That depends on how you build it man. If you use thin leather, not so much, if you use thicker leather and harden it, then quit a bit. There is a balancing act for each person to find their own preference. Some students are adapting the patterns and making them with steel too.
Yeah I have a big soft spot for video game inspired projects and as our patreon and youtube memberships grow it is something i hope to do a lot more of. I will probably stick to the games I'm familiar with myself but anything is fair game.
Sorry i'm dumb.. is there a way to make leather waterproof like post work and customization.. I'd love to wear some of this stuff but it rains to much here.
I have seen folks wax dip their pieces, darkhorse armory does this some. Most pieces get a acrylic top sealant , Resoline is the most common it seems. I think any leather shoe waterproofing conditioners work good too. I'm a hobbyist beekeeper so I like to slick and seal my edges with real beeswax. The non grain underside, flesh side is trickier with water proofing. You can glass panel slick it with Tokenole or wax I believe to help with weatherproofing but it makes the leather a bit thinner all that rubbing and compacting. You can probably also "hot stuff" the leather by adding wax and using a heat gun to melt into the leather, adds some weight of course. Black Raven Academy in the UK has their own blend of water based stains he claims has a built in wax for water protection but he also still recommends using sealants. I'm still a noob but this is what I've learned so far from my studies.
I really want to make the war blade from turok 2 I feel I have the ability to make it it has leather on it and I want to see how to work with leather I want use steel plates to make it I want to see how you apply leather to metal that's the part I'm not understanding
Buyer beware. Unless you have the same software or Adobe + printer settings- your pieces will not scale correctly. I even tried converting to SVG in Inkscape but no luck. After multiple emails, posts and messages he would not do the simple favor of providing the correct dimensions. In the end, you're better off making your own patterns. Suggestion: be more explanatory and take more time to show what you are doing.
'it's a bit of an illness' 😂😂😂 it's good to have you back
:D
Good to see you back properly 🙂👍🏻
Good to be back!
Great seeing new videos again.
Agreed lol
Glad to see a new video of your absolutely stunning work 👏🏻💙👏🏻💙👏🏻💙👏🏻💙👏🏻

There is a high likelihood of a samurai series on the horizon but it will be with a fantasy flavor like all my work, not historically accurate.

Thank you!

What measurements did you use for the pauldrons? If I can get the width of the top piece correct, I can figure out the others.
What acrylic finish and dye do you recommend for the poor man
Still gotta buckle down and make the chest piece that I bought the template for months ago
Yeah, definitely do!

I wonder if these techniques could be used to create armour for 1/3 scale statues?
Yeah, I made mini versions of some armor pieces in the past for some amusing displays at renfest. And some of our students have resized them for dolls and small kids too.
Are you going to release a template for your tiger dragon leather helmet?
What dye and acrylic did you use
Hey, what rivette set do you use? I can't seem to get mine to work right. I'm using Chicago screws in all my builds
What kind of rivets are you using?

Any chances of a fantasy "Predator" style armour?

To some extent the laser does it, it's just not as slick
I was curious how hard is it to make functional leather armor? Do you need a lot of tools or experence?
The fantasy armor series can walk you through making a full suit of armor with very little experience needed and provides many options for tools

Did anyone find the paint drying boxes or something similar yet? :D
yes, Here is the affiliate link.amzn.to/3sorZvW
Thanks very much! Sadly they are unavailable, at least for me :( will check at a later time again
Is there Somebody making a Saint Seiya Cloth (Armor)?
We're not, but I'm sure someone has.
It would be nice too see you hand cut all of your work, without the laser cutter, as long as it doesn't cut into your personal life.
Watch the other tutorials, not every tutorial will be the same.
Nice job excellent now give it to me 🤨
I just did! I gave you the ability to make it at least!
@@Princearmory yes that ability went straight to my brain 😁
