Love the content, we have very similar views on the knives we like. Just to pick you up on something I think the Fällkniven knives are actually made in Japan, a Swedish company, made in Japan. The quality is first class.

Grea video, I was really glad to find it. I picked up an F1 at a pawn shop about ten years ago. I was able to trade the owner the equivalent of about $100 for the knife.

The SRK was the go to knife with Swwedish soldiers in UN missions in the early 90s. It was also one of the knives conseidered as a replacement for the Mora knife the pilots used, but Fallkniven won that contract. So, your theory is backwards. SRK existed before F1 and A1. The S1 was initially planned for the Amphibious units/ Marines, but that contract was cancelled so they remodelled it as a "Forest knife". (S for skog, forest in swedish).

My 80 year old grandfather got ahold of my f1 while skinning some whitetails this past year. I didn't think I was gonna get it back. Had to use my backup knife, a mora kansbol while he used the f1. He said the fallkniven was the best skinning knife he's ever used lol.

The sheath is meant to be a functional no care item, particularly in wet environments. Now the sheath has a locking lever so the knife can't fall out, even under impact. I just bought the Fallkniven Scout, next size down from the F1, for when I'm fly fishing. It's small size allows it to fit well in my fishing vest YET it's robust enough to do tough work. 3.1 inch blade which is 0.189 (4.8 mm) thick. It is beefy. The Scout is made from Elmax, a stainless with good edge retention. The ones in the video are laminated CoS steel, also very good stuff. Laminating the CoS steel makes it even stronger. They also use VG10w and now VG Wolf (VG 7) steel. Don't forget about the convex grind to the blade also, one of it's best features!

The video is a review of regular versions of fallkniven and are VG10. CoS are only offered in Pro and X lineup.

Hey man, how do you feel about the sheath? lol. Be safe brother, great video. I wasn’t expecting to see the Cold Steel’s in there. That’s interesting. Of course they do San Mai blades too on their more expensive tantos, and have been since the 80’s.

Nice items brother! I would not mind having one of those knives my self. By the way since you are cutting way back on meat due to your gallbladder issues, you look a lot slimmer. I had to get my gallbladder out a year ago cause I was getting stones as well. So keep it up brother I will be praying for your health and your family. God bless!!!

This is scary. Last night I was taking photos on my phone of my Fallkniven Pro series (F1, S1 A1) and then today this video came up as a recommendation. Do people still believe technology isn't spying on us?

Coldsteel srk goes back 1990 I'm sure they are older. The srk was originally made in America at Camillus.
Coldsteel does have San mi and 3v.
Maybe research before saying stupid stuff.
I'm 100% sure coldsteel has better steel at a better price.
The F1 was made public 1996.

The Fallkniven and the higher end Cold a steel knife lines were originally made in the same factory in Japan. They both used nearly the same steels originally (VG 1 vs VG 10).
Not 100 percent sure but I’m pretty sure the SRK predates the A1 by several years.

    • @samthai818

You are absolutely correct! The SRK is the original by a few years. I was amazed with the incorrect information in this video.

I love both of these knives and they make a pretty good pair.

I think a better question is did FALLKNIVEN steal the designs from cold steel. This debate has been going around for decades especially with the SAN Mai versions of the cold steel, which I’m informed were made in the same factory as the FALLKNIVEN knives. Personally I own both.

The F1 X is definitely superior to the above. Only problem beside the price is availability.

It’s ok I say it the same Fallkniven, that’s how the Europeans say it. And apparently Fallkniven stole the idea from Cold Steel. That’s what they say anyway. Fallkniven is just a better built one. $and yes they are made in Japan from Japanese steel.

Hello brother Breaker. One more thing we share, our passion for Fällkniven knives. It is a Swedish brand and as a former officer in the Swedish military, I just love those knives. Have you tried the X-series? Similar knives (F1-A1), but even more sturdy, with better steel, scales, better sheathes and better edge retention?

    • @knivesarecoolandaxestoo2946
      @knivesarecoolandaxestoo2946  ปีที่แล้ว

I have not tried the x-series. I just got the GARM dagger though. So cool! But, I wish it had a cooler leather sheath instead of the square zytel shealth.

Put the cold steal and the fallkniven in their respective sheaths then submerge and freeze them in water and see which knife releases from its sheath the easiest(or at all) 🧐 Ugly… not awesome looking. Functional… 100%

@@knivesarecoolandaxestoo2946 Also, if you use the F1 as a hunting knife, that ugly zytel sheath can be thrown in a washing machine and be clean. I use the leather sheaths in summer and zytel in winther.

  • @samthai818

I have the A1X and the S1X made in CoS. Better steel vs the VG10 and a better sheath. I also have all iterations of the SRK and for half(CPM-3V)to a 3rd(VG10) of the price to a regular Fallkniven VG10, I would rather own the Coldsteel! I do agree that the sheaths of the Coldsteel is superior to the Fallknivens. That gimmicky bs about the excessive rattle of Fallkniven is to prevent frozen stuck knives is just stupid. I have hunted in negative temps for 25y and have never ever had a stuck knife! Regardless a little grease on the blade would prevent that if you were so concerned, fallkniven made up the excuse and fanboys ate it up. Another negative regarding the sheath on VG10 Fallknivens is the knife will fall out if you are only relying on friction alone.
