Color is all about lighting, it's like how hazel eyes are brown and green, and depending on the lighting they look more brown or more green in certain lights. His hair is being backlit so the light is shining through his hair and creating a reddish hue, If the light was shining directly on him from your pov his hair would look darker.

It’s just the lighting. He has dark brown hair with a lot of auburn red in it. (I’ve seen him in person). Adorable either way.
