I shoot nikon and fuji so happy days for me with this channel at the moment!🥳
I'm so glad you're taking a look a Nikon. The images are impressive even on the old cameras.
I've been a Nikon shooter for years. I fooled around with Fuji for 18 months or so. I just sold all my Fuji stuff and bought a Canon R6. I still have my Z6, Z50, D800, and D500 Nikons. That little 50 f/1.8G lens is great especially for around $200. The 24-70 is not operational at its storage size and I get it, that can be annoying having to move it to the functional position before shooting but just think of the space saved by the design. Having it collapse down to smaller than it needs to be to operate save lots of space in your bag. Probably enough to throw that nifty 50 in there. Love your channel even though I sold my Fuji stuff.
That 70-200 is magic, you will love it!
The Z 70-200 2.8s is spectacular, as is the Z 24-70 2.8s...which is truly one of the best lenses I’ve ever used. Shot both during a wedding yesterday with my Z7 II and Z5. Nikon isn’t done yet! Glad I hung in there and made the transition to Z mirrorless from the DSLR f-mount. Love your content!
Nikon shooter for over 30 years. I also love my Fujifilms too. Welcome to the Z!
Always love your videos, so entertaining. I am like a parent having 2 kids, Fuji XT2 and Nikon Z7, love them both for different qualities. Enjoy the Z6 II you’ll love it.
Was a Canon film shooter, but have been shooting Nikon digital and did some Fujifilm. I love the Nikon colors and the system is just intuitive for me. Got a Z6 last year and picked up a used Z7 earlier this year to go with my D810. Hope you have fun with the Nikons.
I shot Nikons professionally for almost 40 years and never once had a problem.
And…? Thats not really saying anything.
@@obiromaniankenobi1136 Never had a Canon in the shop, eh?
I guess it is kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to stream new series online?
@Tatum Miller try flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Colten Troy yup, been watching on instaflixxer for since april myself :)
Nikon files are magical.
Agreed ;)
The impression is the same as when I first shot with Nikon.. damnn.. the color, the contrast, they were so good
Great video Omar, I’m a Fujifilm/Nikon kind of guy. This video was very interesting, keep up the good work !! You rule !!
Fuji Xt2 was my first mirrorless camera but Nikon D700 was my first full frame. I still have my fuji but I'm back with Nikon and rocking the Z6II. That 70-200 is just brilliant on this camera.
Been watching you for awhile and really enjoyed your content. Being a long time Nikon guy, this is exciting to see you doing this!
I love Nikon colors. Lovely skin tones handles shadows and contrast well especially in blacks. I just hope that they continue developing the Z system and also let third party lens manufacturers in like their DSLR system. A Tamron 17-70/2.8 with a Z50 would make an awesome light travel/street photography system. Add a Tokina 11-16/2.8 and you've got wide covered too.
I switched to Fujifilm to travel light and compact with the xt30... then I got the Xt4 which was huge in comparison but I thought it was a good compromise... now I have a Nikon Z6ii with the monster 50mm f1.2 welded on it and I don’t know how I got here lol. Great camera though with amazing low light performance and iso noise control (I put mine on low iso noise control and love the results, not too much noise, no waxy skin). Have fun Omar and keep up the great videos!
There are so many good cameras to love out there! My xt3 is my workhorse but I have really enjoyed shooting with the Nikon Df and Pentax K-1. I know Pentax has become something of a punchline in the industry at this point, but their colors are drop dead gorgeous and the files are super pushable.
If they weren't so luxuriously expensive and hard to find in Vietnam I would have bought one. Their cameras pack so much features, more than any brands I'm aware of.
I find editing D700 images to be so joyful.
Couldn't agree more!
Omar, welcome to Nikon family! D700 is in my arsenal too. I couldn't depart with it. It's a tank of a camera and I love It's images too.
Omar has just created new friends 🤣 in the Nikon cabin... U so kind lol 😆
Loved my Nikons.
They were always ready when I needed them.
Lenses are sweet.
105 my favorite...
It was a war, people were either Cannon or Nikon.
Thanks for this topic Omar.
I am a nikon Z and a fuji shooter so this channel is all that I need now!!
Thanks for sharing... I have always used Nikon gear including film cameras... Love their products & no need to change...I only have D500 & D7100 but very happy with results.. Cheers...
Where are my Nikon shooters?? :)
Shooting with a D5500! But tempted to upgrading to the X-S10 for smaller size and better video. Z6 is nice too, but more expensive and a bit larger.
I have used every system except for Nikon XD. But from what I know, Nikon photo colors are amazing. I wasn't a big fan of their DSLR camera ergonomics so havent explored their recent offerings.
I actually started on Nikon, got some great shots on my old DSLR that I'm proud of to this day. Switched to Fujifilm near the end of 2020 though.
I usually shoot Nikon, but (mainly for holiday reasons) I've added Fujifilm and then YT suggested your channel a few months ago.
Was shooting Nikon D40X 10 years ago and was happy with colors and picture quality!!
I used to be canon for the longest time, then I switched over to Sony and I haven’t looked back. I feel you in the exact same way in how the colors come out, always love having a new camera! Great video
I love your analysis as newcomer to this loved brand of mine. I started with a D5100 in 2011 and I got psyched, went to the D7000 for nicer controls and handling then D7100, D600 (my first FF) and now a Z6 II.
Im a happy shooter but never settled with lenses lol
Don’t forget to install the update that is scheduled to be released tomorrow! It includes improved AF performance.
No way...didn't know thanks!
I love the files out of my Nikon Z6! The autofocus wants to fight with you sometimes, but when it hits the colors and image are beautiful!
COLORS.....(drooling).
I've had the Z6 for just over 10 months now. I just shot a baptism inside a dimly lit church using just the Z70-200 2.8 and the Z24-70 4 / S lenses.
I liked the results, that 70-200 (a heavy, expensive hunk of glass) is very crisp and sharp. You will like the results.
I've been shooting Nikons since the start of the 1970's, as a teen my first Nikon was an F2 (film) I believe Nikon glass is tops.
I recently got rid of my entire DSLR collection and switched to the Z series. It took Nikon a bit to get into mirror-less, I think they have done a heck of a job.
Welcome to Nikon I think you will like them.
Oh wow Omar, you are in for a real treat!
Word of advice: watch Ricci Talks’s tutorial on Nikon Z autofocus modes, it will really help understand the system. If you want it setup for back button focus, I recommend going with the Dynamic Area (the single point with nine smaller points around it) in in continuous AF, it gives you the ability to quickly get single focus by tapping and releasing the back button, continuous focus by holding down the back button, or manual focus by just turning the ring on the camera.
You would also be well served with the Fringer EF-NZ adapter to use your Canon L glass on the Z6II. If you have time before you return it to B&H, try to get it, it works really well and I know you have more EF stuff than Nikon F lenses. Also, you don’t need to wait for the Z battery to charge, you can use the batteries from the D600 and D700 as backups or spares.
That 70-200mm 2.8 S is amazing, I just got it last month and it lives on my camera 90% of the time these days.
Have fun, happy shooting!
Holy cow this was super helpful! Thanks so much. Saved me 11 hours.
I’m really glad it helped!
Really looking forward to seeing your thoughts on all this system in the next few days, take care Omar!
I've gone from Nikon DSLR to Fuji mirrorless recently. Looking forward to picking up a Z6 II one day though. The Fuji is fun but prefer Nikon. Enjoyed your video Omar.
I just recently switched from Nikon to a Sony A7iii in going full frame and mirrorless. Love the AF and the lens selection of the Sony, but I miss the jpegs and usability of my Nikons. I could really see myself switching back to Nikon when/if third party lenses start coming out.
Viltrox makes a bunch of well regarded Z lenses.
I think Nikon reason for having their lens direction is for faster lens swaps while in the field. It's actually tighty righty, lefty loosy if you don't turn the body toward you.
Wow that nikon Z looks really nice to use. Coming from an X-T body, I think the ergonomics look like that really thought about use cases. Front functions are great! All these fingers and we have to press everything with one thumb? 😂
Love the fuji content but also love getting shown around various tools so I get a more complete view of what's out there! It was great how you pointed out the difference in ergonomics, those hard to press fuji buttons really are kind of an annoyance at times.
I'm very happy with my Nikon gear. I shot Canon and Minolta when I shot film. I switched to Nikon when I went digital in 2006 for purely ergonomic reasons and have been quite happy.
Welcome to the Z-family ❤️
Nikon got me into the game with my D70 and Nikkor 24-120...I took that thing everywhere I went did so much street photography and then got into fashion with it. Now clearly it’s a desk ornament, but I still shoot with my FF XT-one all the time ;)
Though I did just order an XS10 yesterday to complement my daily camera the EOS R
The D600 was my upgrade to the D7000, and I remember loving that every button and dial meant for shooting was placed so incredibly well - except ISO, which was off in no-man’s land on the lower-left backside - that I didn’t need to look at the camera to control anything. Unfortunately, the D600 wasn’t great at autofocusing. Frame coverage was so incredibly small, and C-AF accuracy was such a gamble for bird photography that it made the D500 I bought a few years later feel worlds better (and the ISO and resolution wasn’t so far off that I didn’t feel like I sacrificed anything either).
Excited to see more content about/with this camera !
My favorite TH-cam face AND both my favorite camera brands in one channel? 🥳🤪🤩
Pro tip. Set the record button as the button that handles changing AF modes, it's a lot more comfortable than using the front Fn button for that. Also you got some really good cameras. I would keep the D700 and D600...also use that 70-200 that B&H sent you that lens is excellent.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, excellent content. Stay safe Omar.
I shoot with the Nikon Z6 as well as the Fuji xt2. The only thing it is missing in my opinion is the vari-angle lcd that the fuji has, it would be nice like you said if it had a single button press quick access to eye af. You can work it pretty fast if you hold down one of the front custom buttons and then using the front dial you can quickly change focus type. So you can go from the auto area that has eye af to a center focus point fairly quickly. Enjoy the camera.
Very interesting and entertaining video. Glad to see someone is giving the Zs (Zed in the Queen's English) a little love. I shoot Fuji now but began with Nikon film cameras so, it's like, you never forget your first love. Will be very interested in what you think about the Zs (Zeds?). If I ever feel a need for full frame, I would look at the Nikons. Right now I have a Nikon F to Fuji X adaptor, on my XT 3 and I shoot an old film Nikon D 60mm micro for some great macro shots. Maybe, someday, you can check out the new Pentax and cut them some slack, goodness knows they could use it. Keep up the great work!
the Nikon F mount is so versatile tho.
you can find a quite modern camera that have this mount, and still mount your 80's vintage lenses to it. I've recently put 2 and 2 together and saw that I can use my dad's lenses he had in 1983 or what ever with his Nikon FE, and they work natively with relatively modern Nkon camera bodies, that's very nice !
HA! I'm a Nikon shooter and your videos pushed me into picking up a Fuji Xe3 and a few small primes as a second system a year and a half ago. The Z6II is my current workhorse. Enjoy the system and the amazing glass they have.
Cool. Loving the Nikon files.
The D700...I wanted one for over a decade and finally got one last year. I had a few good old lenses for it. Recently I decided I needed a hybrid and you *almost* had me sold on Fujifilm (gorgeous images) but with the adapter I could use my older Nikkor lenses. Didn't get one of the expensive models, got the Z30. I'm not a professional photographer so I can't justify it and wouldn't begin to use all the features, so the Z30 won out. I love it. It brought me the same excitement as the D90, which I got instead of the D700 years ago and it was a pretty revolutionary entry level DSLR back when. Anyway, thanks for the nod to Nikon. There's just nothing quite like them for me.
I think this is the first time I have ever heard you use the word Nikon.😂. The D700 was my first FF camera and shot many a weddings with it. Great video as always!
Love my X-T30 but the jpegs my 15 year old 10MP D80 produces are still magical
Love my Z6ii, but… the problem with those two beautiful front function buttons is that they limit what you can assign to them. Panasonic, for example, lets you put practically any function on any button.
Let's be honest, jpegs straight of Fujis cameras are excellent. I used to have D7000, D600, a7rII, and now XT2, I didn't miss anything of the D600.
When you do some challenging fast paced action shots, make sure to use the 70-200, that is the king of fast focus.
I just happened upon your channel today and loved this video. Obviously, I'm a wee bit biased as a Nikon shooter (just recently moved from the D850 to the Z7 II and couldn't be happier). Like you I grew up with Canon but I switched in 2014 to Nikon. I just love the colours out of camera and more importantly, love the feeling most of their lenses invoke. I had to laugh at your comment about the plastic/sterile feel of today's images. They often look TOO sharp for me and one of the main reasons I'm sticking with Nikon...
Thanks for the video :) oh and nice Tudor!
Im originally a nikon guy then went to fuji because of the bang for the buck value when it comes to camera and lens. Maybe someday i can have both fuji and nikon.
Same.
The Nikon D600 was my first really good camera.
You WILL LOVE The camera and the amazing Z lenses . I shoot Fuji X-T3 and Nikon Z6 and man the Z S lenses ARE GLORIOUS. The X-T3 stays in the box most time since my 2 year Z6 is with me. You should try the 1.8 S prime lenses
I have both 85mm and 35mm. Amazing lenses. I think DXOmark ranked the new 85mm 1.8s 3rd best lens.
Happy that I discovered this channel.
The Z6II is a killer machine, and that’s coming from a Canon fanboy.
haaaaaa 11.47 how quick you change those settings Omar, fantastic :)
OK Omar, I literally started salivating when you unboxed that body.... I still love my Nikon D750. Will never sell it. I started digital with the D300 in 2007 and also love my F100 35mm and all my lenses. I’m leaning more towards the z50 and if you happen to get your hands on that one (takes a regular SD card), I’d love to know what you think!
Congrats. I moved from Fuji xt2 to z6, then z6ii. Would recommend updating to todays firmware eye af and subject tracking seems improved. Defo check out the time-lapse feature , you can shoot Raw files and have time-lapse movie simultaneously. For all round lens check out z24-200mm. I never used my z24-70 once I got this. Also z20mm 1.8 for any blue hour or astro shots, its incredible. Enjoy.
Appreciate it!
I find Fuji to be crazy expensive for what it offers. Now you can get a full frame Z5 for sub 1000 USD! How much is an XT4 now?
As a non-Nikon shooter I need to say this. The full-frame Z line (yeah 6 Mk II) looks more interesting to me from an industrial design perspective than the similarly-priced Canons do. There's an old-school, angular and current Fuji-esque aspect to them, right?
hahaha, I can remember that Canon Nikon times. Most people used Canon, Nikon was also a pretty solid option, and I had a Pentax xD ... like the kid in the corner no one wants to speak with. But hey, it was my first DSLR camera and I had fun times with it
Thanks to you i still like my NOIR camera ;) (xt10 with a neewer 25mm manual lens) and my xt30. Only subscribed to 1 channel, Omar your the best!
I started with a Nikon FE2 (film) when I was about 12. Bought an F70 with my first earned money, and later a D70 which was great and still makes great photos (wonderful with lightroom too). I actually switched to a Fuji x t-20 after watching Omar’s channel and while I love my little Fuji camera, there was definitely something about my old Nikon pics that I haven’t been able to get at with the Fuji. I still have the old Nikon stuff - might actually buy a d700 now, for old-time’s sake...
🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know why but 7:58 made me laugh pretty good. I wanna sample that for a song.
can’t wait to see next episodes 😀 i love fuji also like nikon too
Nice I expect your comments about the Z 6 !
Interesting video . Used Nikon back in the day and they produce great images . Most cameras today do a decent job. If ever you want to try a different body and it works for you then consider it. Lens choices are important . What are you photographing ?
Keep producing the great images .
Hope you enjoyed the new camera! Remember to update the camera soon with the new 1.20 firmware!
I have heard good things about the original Canon 5D so I'm super curious about this one too. ✌️
Love Nikon cameras. I have to many of them as a collector and photographer!
There are still quite a lot of Nikon cameras of fairly recent vintage which are very much worth owning.
But I'm telling you, Fuji now has the best of the best in both the DX format, and also the medium format arena of digital cameras.
Only three brands really matter in this day and age - Canon, then Nikon, and then especially FUJI, which in particular truly comprehends color theory.
Dude you are a funny guy, I can't believe I haven't seen your videos before but also I cant believe you haven't held a Z before oh well it's a first for both of us! I bought the Z6 when it came out and now I have the Z6ii having previously owned the D700, D750 and the D4!
The Z6ii is an awesome camera and make sure you update your firmware to 1.30 as that came out today. When I'm shooting events and weddings I toggle between the Eye autofocus and the Selective focusing on the F1 and F2 and sometimes use the tracking.
Yeah Nikon have been slow to the party but they are there now and this camera is a joy to use. Let me know how you get on and or if you need any help with the camera. Cheers Buddy and I'm looking forward to your next video about Z.
Thanks for the kind words! Will try the toggle
I use Canon, Fuji, and Nikon. I do love the sensors from the D700 era, they have such magical looks to it (the first 5D, the 1Ds Mark II). BUT, I urge you to check out the Fujifilm S5 if you haven’t. That camera’s sensor is pure crack.
Nikon was my first camera on the 80ss and my perspective is the best for sports,,, If you keep that camera for 3 days you will love it!! And I am shooting with Fujifilm and if I could get back to Nikon. I Will Get Back!!!!
Pick up an old one!! (but the Z6 original has also dropped in price).
I am totally agree with you dear , even the structure of the pixels is very close to film and yes sharper too ... I do have still Nikon D3 and D 800 even top of owning Fujifilm GFX and fujifilm X both bodies ...
Thanks sharing your experience, I'm a longtime Nikon Shooter D50, D700, D610, D810 waiting on Fuji or what Nikon does in 2021
Hi
Switched back to Nikon a while ago just couldn’t accept the skin tones on Fuji
Totally miss the feel of my Fuji camera but love Nikon colours
As an old coot that's been shooting Nikon since my first FM, in 1981, you'll have to excuse me if this discovery is kinda funny to me. Incidentally, I just re-bought a pristine FM and I still have anF90X. Of course, you can decide on the "look" you get out of those with film choice. I still have one of my D600s (the one I drowned in seawater) and a D800. However, the latter rarely sees the light of day since I bought 2 Z6s. But I guess what you just discovered is Nikon "colour science," among other virtues of the brand. Happy shooting,
if you get the chance, try the D700 with the micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8 - an absolutely stunning combo
This video made me feel guilty. I have a D700 sitting unused since I went "full Fuji", but not because the Nikon was bad. I just embraced the mirrorless concept and the petite Fujifilm bodies.
Looking through years of folders of D700 images reminded me how great the camera is... yes, even in 2021. This video was the kick in the butt that I needed to dust off the Nikon.
When I started photography I too used canon. But the Nikon df… in silver was such a beautiful camera. Not well reviewed but my personal favorite Nikon dslr
Omar great video as always! Couple of suggestions from long time nikon hobbyist, nikons own software has a little bit more solid color raw rendering especially for d700 you might wanna check that; very old apsc d200 is from another era with CCD sensor, files don't have much DR but rendering is different; AFAIK that d600 battery should work fine with z6 except in camera charging.
BTW Man it's 2021 what the heck is camera fanboyism (referring to some comments)
Bought Nikon D700 when it came, i used it in every condition for 5 years. Worked like a charm. Tried sony, olympus, fuji and now back in Nikon camp with Z6. Nikon makes the best cameras for people😁
welcome to my world- Omar- great video.... I grew up with Nikon.... and discovered you when I added Fuji to my camera table (last November).... but the table has a D700... yup.... still use it- so much fun... and a z6ii.... and a z50.. (you should check out the z50)..... and plenty of glass- (oh, just order a Viltrox 20mm Z lens)............and then I discovered Fuji... X100V.... and of course when the XT3 was on sale for like 999- yup.... and then... and then- I just pick up a previously owned XE-1 from B&H... similar to D700- simple and easy- trying it for black and white..... I think what we are seeing here- regarding the early cameras- D700 and the XE1 or 2 (which you have)- is they had a great basic processor and 12 mg was really all you needed... (for most of us... wait- like all of us.... except maybe a pro...)... anyway- I love all my cameras- I know-... but- picking out a camera and a lens for an afternoon of shooting is part of the fun... what will it be today- and the old Nikon glass... oh my- you need to buy a 135 ai - I use that with my D700- wow- manual shooting with the D700.... so much fun- but then one day, it's ..... let's take the X100V out- and same thing- can't wait to see the photos from the XE1.. just got it a day ago... any secrets? cheers from the CIty by the Bay!
I had many Nikons in the past. I started with a Nikon D3, what a great camera, it was a solid tank. Then I bought a D700, but I much preferred the D3. The main problems with the D700 were the very, very noisy shutter and the slow FPS without its grip. So I bought the grip for the D700 and it made it larger than my D3. Color wise I always preferred my D3 as well, I found the D700 too warm an oversaturated (although raw files were easily corrected). The D3 offered faster FPS, better ISO and double card slot. The D700 had a built-in flash. Eventually I sold them both about 3 years ago. I don't really miss them, as today's gear is way smaller, faster and colors can be easily corrected. I just sold my A7III, and went smaller with an A7C, only because of the form factor and better color science (I much prefer the A7C color science than the A7III).
3:03 that's what it's like for me every time I look at photos out of my old M9. Filmic look, I also remember the same when using the files out of my Nikon D700/610. With Fuji, it often is the other way around: look fantastic on the EVF, and are a bit of a disappointment when you import them. I think is has something to do with pixel pitch, pixel size and sensor size overall: The difference between Fuji and Full-frame is not factor 1,5 (that's just for commercials), full frame is actually 2.33 times larger.
Same reason nobody would rent an apartment saying "the living room has a diagonal of 30 feet", you'd want to know square footage 😉
Have fun with it. Curious to see your thoughts.
That Nikon 50mm 1.8 is still such a workhorse.
I’ve had two D810 bodies for about 5 years along with plenty of the latest lenses. I see no need to upgrade anything. Camera gear is very pricey in my country Australia. Not only the cost of the new gear but also the big loss you take on the old gear. You can learn a fair bit about the Nikon system from Steve Perry. That 50mm lens is extremely good but not wide open. Try to stop it down to f4 at least.
I love my Nikons (d7000 and d600). I will NEVER sell them. I just bought a XT-3 after I have fizzled with the XT-1 for a year. I love your videos.
I'm still using my 1DXll and a D850... Can't seem to make a switch to mirrorless systems just yet... I tried almost everything from Sony, Canon, Nikon and Fuji, from the usual a1's, a9's to the R5 and R6, I tried everything and the only camera in the current mirrorless market that produced images up to my standards or up to the standards of my 1DXll, was the GFX100 but that camera has a lot of major drawbacks, as it is not designed for the fields of photography I base my work on - on top of costing 10 grand for the body alone. Nikons Z6ll and Canons R5 are getting somewhere but that's still not it... I recently heard about the R3, R1 and the Z9, so I will keep my eyes on those, however if they end up costing more than 5,000 EUR, I won't be switching to mirrorless anytime soon...
I took a little inspiration from you. And picked up from a local seller a Canon EOS-1 D mrk iii. 10.5 megapixel aps-h sensor. My battery comes today, can't wait to try it out. Will it be $100 well spent?
I have a D600 still ......its no slouch .....I bought my dream lens for it the 80-200 F2.8 .....ED baby screw drive ....slower AF than my FUJI but you need to realize this was the SH*t ....however weight wise I side sling it because the old CHIROPRACTOR visits would be weekly if I shot this daily ........anyways its a blast to go out with the D600 and the 28mm F2.8 to do street of which I have as well ....and no CHIMPING needed the 24 MP have enough Dynamic range to edit well .....anyways that my story ....GREAT VID DUDE
Omar, if interested, check out the TH-cam channel of Allen Blasdell. He’s a British wedding photographer who was a Nikon dslr user, switched to Sony to try mirrorless for two years, but recently switched back to Nikon dslrs for his sense they deliver more appealing image quality.
I really like it that your checking out other brands.
