That's brilliant Jamie, thank you so much!!! I've been playing exactly 1 year now, (and 2 days ;) ) and had numerous attempts trying to play at least altissimo G or A. All the notes to palm F# were super easy but I've only ever managed to get to a bit flat altissimo G and even that with a fingering that is not listed in your pdf - that was through endless trials. I tried 3 different strengths of Legere Signature, which I normally play, and 3 different mouthpieces. No luck. A few weeks ago I bought a fibracell reed to try and while I loved the sound and how easy it was to play in low register with this reed, the high register was much more difficult than with Legere, not to mention altissimo. So I've written the fibracell off pretty much, until last week when I felt a bit adventurous and decided to try fibracell with a couple of other mouthpieces that I don't normally play because I found them more difficult with legere reed. That's when I had a true Eureka moment. I hit altissimo G and A form the very first attempt. Today, I tried your pdf chart and going chromatically I could easily play all the way to double C# (tried all with a tuner). Going back to my previous setup - Legere Signature with Vandoren mp and I still can't play any altissimo not even 1 in 50 attempts. So it turns out sometimes the equipment does make a difference, not everything is in your throat ;)
Cool, glad it's working out for you. Maybe that one set up could be a "gateway" into getting it going for you on any setup! You'll find that once you've "got it" you should be able to do it on anything (within reason - I can't play altissimo on a yamaha 4C with a 1.5 reed!)
thanks! your embouchure- tip at the bonus-video is so clear and so good! incredibly helpful for me! ❤ and the fingerings for high notes are working absolutely just now!!! much love to you!
Thank you! I can’t wait for the Tenor video. I was looking for a video like this for a long time. I’m sure these two videos will be one of your most watched videos.
Jamie the first high F sharp fingering is wrong it needs to have a side B flat key not a side C key. My friend tried the first fingering for high F sharp and it was very sharp on his alto saxophone. Great video on the altissimo fingering chart.
OMG, you're 100% right, it's just a typo. That's SO annoying. I can't change the video now, of course, but I'll change the free PDF and add a note in the description (I'll credit you). Honestly, between alto and tenor I was doing 144 separate graphics and I was kinda losing my mind anyway. I expecting the odd mistake. But the first fingering on the first note!!!! How many people are gonna be frustrated that they can't get the F#?! Nightmare. Thanks for the correction Jim, that's gonna bug me now!
Hey Jamie, I've got one that works really well for my alto for Altissimo G - It's Octave key + left hand 1 and 3 + right hand 4 + Eb pinky. Exactly like ur option 4 (which i feel gives the fattest tone) but responds much quicker than if i were to use right hand 6 instead of the Eb pinky!
Amazing! Can't wait to try some of these and the tenor ones next week. Also, love the list of credits; always encouraging to hear the same folks I subscribe to mentioned. Suggests I'm watching the right people!!
Sheesh! All the dogs in the neighborhood are here and also I keep running into the kitchen to turn off the tea kettle! Was wondering which of the fingerings are the ones you use? Couple other things - Marc Russo! Ted Nash’s “Studies in High Harmonics”, and Paul Perez (formerly in TOP and friend of Lenny) has a publication “Playing In the Attic”. This was another super useful video!
Thanks for those resources Kris, much appreciated. I vary which ones I use tbh, but usually (going from F# upwards) 1,4,2,1,2,5,5,1,1,2,3,1. That said, after this video I might change quite a bit.
At least one of these fingerings work on both my alto and bari for every note. Can even hit a Double A on Bari, only to the F on alto though. Dont need much more than that however. Thanks a lot, very helpful as a clarinetist.
Jamie you should search "Jeff Coffin altissimo" it's a short video where he talks about Bert Wilson's fingerings for altissimo and they're all really easy imo.
Checked it, it's great. Some of those "3rd octave key" fingerings are already in the set, plus in my altissimo video I demonstrate overblowing a 6th and a 4th, which is what those fingerings are. Thanks for watching!
Hey Jamie, do you have a tutorial like this for alto, but for the notes below, from high C# upwards to altissimo? There’s no tutorial online, and it would help bridge the gap, thanks!
Thnx for this! Will pass to my son who plays tenor. I play soprano sax... Will you be doing a chart for soprano sax or can I use the alto chart? Cheers... Charles
This is a great video, so helpful, thank you. Is it normal, in the beginning, to feel a bit of soreness in your throat after 10 to 15 minutes of practising altisimo notes?
Thank you for the instructions. However, Before I checked out this video, I watched your other good video on how to use your throat muscles to initiate the altissimo, I noticed you also mentioned fingering is of lesser importance. Why then you have provided so many variations in this video? Wouldn't just one be sufficient ?
Awesome! Waiting with bated breath for the tenor version. And my opinion: no way you can claim ownership of a particular fingering any more than you could claim ownership of the note it plays IMHO. 😂 PS: I think the kettle’s boiled! 🤣
I can not get a proper split-tone altissimo A. It always comes out very loud and clean. I don't have the same problem with G or F or F#. Any ideas? Is there any fingering more "suitable" for it? Thanks for the great videos!
Good question that! I think one of the main problems is that is a really stable altissimo note. I don't really have a great answer though. I could be a mixture of fingering and embouchure/vocal tract. I certainly find it easier to split the high A on Tenor for some reason. Even the "king of the splitters" Sanborn doesn't split that one as much as G or F#.
All right Jamie, you have some good homework for the week. I hope you don't have a lot of stiffness in your ribs, Hahaha !! Thanks, I'm going to put you some coffees !!
No entiendo mucho inglés. Pero quisiera comprarte material para aprender a improvisar y partituras de los mejores solos. Gran abrazo y felicidades por tu gran obra y el ser tan especial que sos.
Great stuff ! The neighbours are gonna love you very much for this .
Ha ha - they sure will! Cheers Keefie :-)
Respected sir. Thank you for your valuable lessons. We are greatly benefited by your lessons.
You’re welcome!

Un genio. Gracias maestro!!! No hay otro sitio mejor en la web que el tuyo.
Thanks! 🤩
Have been playing sax for 3 months and im super glad I found a way to get to G! Thanks! Great video!
Awesome! 👍🏻

Thanks Diamond Dust!! I hope you enjoy this Sunday ;-)
Thank you so much! I was able to learn several new notes in just one evening!
Wonderful!
I have been looking for this for a LONG time. I play mostly old horns, a couple of them don't even have a front "F" key. I owe you a coffee Jaime.
You're very welcome Fred, and thank you so much for the coffee!
Brilliant!!! So many variations for one note. I knew one or two, but five or six…. Thank you
Anytime 😎
You nailed it! Cant wait for the tenor fingerings, looking for better connected altissimmo throughout. ⭐
Awesome! Thank you!
Realy this vdo is very helpfull every one. Thanks sir

Thanks for sharing! I think I calculated I found something like 30+ fingerings each for F# and G, so that comes as no surprise!! lol
Hi Jamie I'm in agreement with Ben D except I use the right hand side Bb also and it kicks in really well
Nice one thanks Steve :-)
Highly appreciated ...did some practice on Saturday morning ...neighborhood is awake now 🤣
Yeh I bet! 😂
Thank you for this. I am just kind of getting into the Altissimo Register and this has helped a lot.
You’re very welcome Lewis!
Thank you very very much. You are the one!

That's great to hear Francis!
Hi Jamie, thx for the vid this week since i am kind of a beginner at alto sax, this was VERY helpful!!
Thx again
Stay safe☺
Glad it was helpful Brandi!
@@GetYourSaxTogether 😉😀
I got to D and I couldn't go any higher. This video was very helpful
Glad it helped!
I finally found it.....I'm playing the sax interlude on "No ordinary worship" by Kelontae Gavin this Sunday....really helpful🔥🔥
Glad I could help!
Super video!
Thank you very much!

this is great, although I wonder if you can play the next ten notes.
You played all the way to F7, but the saxophone can go all the way to Eb8.
I wonder if I can… 🤔

Different fingerings work better for different people depending on your Reed, mouthpiece, sax and personal physiology.
What's a good combination for f to g in like a jazz style? There are so many it's overwhelming me!
Just try them all and see which one you prefer?
Thanks bro.🙏

Hey do you know what’s the best finger for like going from g sharp to A and G runs
Join my inner circle for that stuff. That’s where I can serve you best.
I can not get a proper split-tone altissimo A. It always comes out very loud and clean. I don't have the same problem with G or F or F#. Any ideas? Is there any fingering more "suitable" for it? Thanks for the great videos!

Many. But not ones that I can explain in a TH-cam comment!
Thank you 🙏🏽
You are so welcome
Thanks a million.
You're welcome Deryck
Hi Jamie, will you be doing altissimo for Tenor Saxophone soon? Thank you for your hard work.
Coming up this Sunday Royston! Hope you enjoy it. ;-)
@@GetYourSaxTogether Fantastic as always.. Thank you again for all your hard work...
Royston Gold Anytime!
Cant reach double altissimo f but i can over blow the front altissimo fing to get d d# and e help?
What do you need help with?
One of those Eb's wanted to go to a G!
Yeh, the harmonics are much closer in the altissimo, you can usually get multiple notes for each fingering!
@@GetYourSaxTogether that helps me though. It lets me know that I can extend the range into that "inadvertent" note.
ricaard Sure thing.

LOL - Thanks Angel 👍
This is awrsome
Thanks Emma ;-)
Hi great video. Ivve heard people mention the "Ta" key "dont use the palm key use the Ta key" but not sure what they mean by it. Csn you explain?
I guess it means the front F key. That’s the key above your B finger that you always ignored!
Quick question: Some of the fingerings have a key greyed (G#1, A3 & E1). What do these mean? Optional?
yeah optional
What is 8va mean?
One octave higher.
shandar
👍🏻
Duoble high g?
Lots of options there but check out SirValorSax channel.
No, you cannot copyright fingerings..it's like copyrighting chords or progressions.
Wait.
Thanks Algo1 ;-)
No one seems to speak of altissimo on soprano sax - is that because only the dog will hear them?
It's very difficult to play altissimo on soprano and quite specialised. Try here - you may find some help www.wfg.woodwind.org/sax/
👌
👍🏻
I kno your lips were bleeding by the time you got to the double F
🤣
👍

🤩🤩🤩🤩
;-)
Why do people like to puff their cheeks when getting to super high notes?
I don’t know really. Something to do with resonance probably.
