I had seen the original trailer for Splatoon and was not a fan of what I saw; I described it as "TF2 with squids and paintball". But as time went on, they began to appear in more and more places. They got places in Smash and Mario Kart, they infiltrated my favorite animator's TH-cam channels, Gametal did a Calamari Inkantation cover; no matter where I ran, the squid kids always found me. I eventually gave up and decided to see what they had to offer, and I have been hopelessly hooked on these games ever since; even if I was too poor to actually play them. As someone who resisted for over two years, I can say that this video paints how it felt perfectly. Nice work.

We lived in harmony for a while, but some humans grew enraged at the squids because some of them were inseparable, but the squid virus tore relationships apart. Soon, people were trying to cure the squids, but to no avail. Then came the incidents. If you touched their ink, you would immediately become a squid. People would inadvertently wander into the war zones, and become squids themselves. Our population slowly dwindled, until you and I became the last humans on Earth. Wait, what's that noise?
