- Mt Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia (3,726m/12,224ft), part of the Mount Rinjani National Park. It is an active volcano with last eruptions in 2010 and 2015. Enjoy the stunning views of the park during three days trekking to the top.
Day 1 - Senaru village to Crater Rim; Day 2 - Crater Rim - Segara Anak Lake - Rinjani Basecamp at Crater Rim; Day 3 - Basecamp - Mount Rinjani - Sembalun village.

I climbed Rinjani back in 2015. It was one of the best things I've ever done. This video was a lovely reminder of my own adventure there 😀
You've got to love Indonesia for its great mountains that give truly rewarding hiking and climbing experiences. What attracts me most perhaps is the fast change and contrast between the hot lowland rainforest and the cold rocky crater rims.
Hundreds of volcanoes in Indonesia....many are devoid of tourists and similarly beautiful, not like Bromo, Ijen and Rinjani that are already touristy. Mt. Raung in Java is even closer than Ijen to Bali, it takes advanced climbing skill and you will be rewarded by a view of giant misty crater, even bigger than Bromo's crater. Much of Indonesia is still raw nature.
Raung? That's another challenge and skill of climbing and hiking. :D

I have to say the same...but for me the top was mt merapi..I did it August 2017 and Inwill never forget that sunrise after the long walk...in that moment for the first time of my life I felt the power of nature.I felt recharged even if I was destroyed..I am italian and I went on very high mountains since I am kid but that moment was amazing. I was in February 2018 on Anak Krakatau...slept on Sebesi islan thinking about that now is very sad...

Was there in 2016. Hard but rewarding. The guides and porters from Senaru village were fantastic. Authorities must improve the support infrastructure of this amazing mountain ie..proper resting huts, signages and above all rubbish collection.Not only you get to swim at the crater lake but at ground level there's Tiu Kelep waterfall that you can soak up as well

I feel I'm there in a hologram, so well do you photograph...for once I'm glad I have a decent monitor...I did spend a month in Indonesia myself and did Borobodur as well...but that was 30 years ago, and I didn't know how to focus on abstractions as you do.

A great video and a tough climb, it was well worth the effort. (Easy for me to say!)I loved all those tents lining the ridge below the summit, I expect it would still be dark when people were getting up and doing their morning chores!Keep finding great places Milosh.
Many thanks Drew! Yeah, we began the climb at 3am, which was a little early, but allowed us not to rush to the summit, as there was enough time to get there by Sunrise. As it was dark during the climb I filmed the descent, but still there were people coming up, maybe they did not want to get up early :)
